Orphaned non-free media (File:Fenerbahçe.svg)

Thanks for uploading File:Fenerbahçe.svg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:14, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Coaster

Why do you think I am vandalizing the marijuana article? I am simply adding pictures of medical marijuana so people know what it looks like. Coaster420 (talk) 07:50, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

It would help if you explained why you were changing all the images on the talkpage or in the edit summary before you did it. It's kind of an important change. --Kraftlos (Talk| Contrib) 07:52, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
I assumed, because you were previously warned, and as there was no edit summary for such a change, that it was vandalism. Obviously, I wasn't sure, and I was trying to undo your edit with an edit summary, explaining that I would ask you what the changes were for, discuss it on the talk page if necessary, and to leave and edit summary on your next edit. Unfortunately, Huggle issued a warning instead of me being able to leave you a message. I am editing on a slower computer than usual, and I don't know why it did that, when I clicked the advanced button. I can't blame the computer, though. Anyway, it would be appreciated if you did leave an edit summary on all of your edits, but especially the major ones, so others will know your reasons for the changes. Cheers. – Alex43223 T | C | E 08:08, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Edit warning

Are you aware you reverted a newbies test edit to the sandbox as a vandalism move and warned them telling them to go try the sandbox for testing? See User talk:Johnnyboytoy

Just wanted to make sure you knew of this == Cabe6403 (TalkSign!) 02:45, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I am aware. Huggle does not include a "sandbox reversion" warning, and as I considered removing a line that stated explicitly to test your editing skills below this line to be vandalism. I was not aware that the specific warning he received told him to go back to the sandbox, although I hoped that a notice that his edit had been reverted would tell him that he should read the notification right there on the page before he edits. I have left a message notifying him of why he received the warning. Cheers. – Alex43223 T | C | E 02:58, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
Fair enough, I still think WP:BITE applies here though. He's new and those where his very first edits. In my opinion all that needed to be done was a simple "hey dude, thanks for joining the 'pedia. Just so you know, try edit below line x" rather than an actual warning. If huggle doesn't have such a function then take the 30 seconds it takes to write a custom message. Plus the sandbox gets refreshed every 12 hours anyway so it doesn't really matter -- Cabe6403(TalkSign!) 03:16, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
I agree, I should have initially left him a message, which I intended to do. I am still getting used to Huggle, and, while it's a great tool, it has its flaws, even though it is up to each individual user to do the actual job. This is why I left him a message explaining it later, as I intended to do in the first place. Usually, when such content is removed from the sandbox, I simply add it back myself. In this case, I hit the wrong button, and it is my mistake. Cheers. – Alex43223 T |C | E 03:27, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Issues of Notability and COI

Hello Alex, I have submitted an autobiography as an article in response to several requests for my resume from various sectors of society here in the Philippines. While done in good faith, my lack of familiarity of the rules caused the nomination of the article Benito T. de Leon for deletion on issues of WP:Notability and WP:COI. Noting that the article is about myself, it would just perhaps be best for other editors to debate on it. May I solicit your advise how to proceed from here. Thanks very much for your assistance.-Sultan-Commander (talk) 07:47, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

I just read your prompt and encouraging response Alex. Thanks very much.-Sultan-Commander (talk) 09:08, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

I have posted a comment at Wikipedia talk:About the SandboxIceblock (talk) 17:16, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Land Down Under (engine)

A tag has been placed on Land Down Under (engine), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these adminsto request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. 16x9 (talk) 19:20, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Land Down Under (engine)

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Land Down Under (engine), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

no content. is not notable

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. 16x9 (talk) 22:38, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be foundhere.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 04:43, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Adopt-a-user reminder

Hello, I have completed a general cleanup of the adopter information page for the adopt-a-user project, located here. During my cleanup, I have removed several inactive and retired users. In order to provide interested adoptees with an easy location to find adopters, it is essential that the page be up-to-date with the latest information possible. Thus:

  • If you are no longer interested in being an adopter, please remove yourself from the list.
  • If you are still interested, please check the list to see if any information needs to be updated or added - especially your availability. Thank you.
  • You are receiving this message because you are listed as an adopter here.

"Deprecated" changes???

On Wikipedia a person must self-identify with a particular denomination before being categorized; and the only way to know if they self-identify is a source indicating that the person is currently Catholic (or Baptist, or atheist, or whatever). That standard is frequently violated because many people think they can put anything about a person's religous beliefs in an article without reliable sourcing. That is what is unsourced in the article. If someone grows up an atheist but is now a Christian (see William J. Murray), do we put that person in the "Atheists" category?" MANY people grow up in a particular denomination (or lack thereof in Murray's case) but do not end up claiming that perspective when they are adults. This is a simple matter of following one of the very cornerstones of Wikipedia: "The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth." Tony Meléndez may very well be a Catholic right now, but the article doesn't state that. If you want to restore the category, please find a sourced statement to that effect. And remember, the responsibility for sourcing is on the person who adds or restores information. Thank you. Cresix (talk) 16:12, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

An update from adopt a user

Hi there Alex43223! You may be wondering, what have I done to sound the alarm this time? Nothing. I'm messaging you in regards to the adopt-a-user program, which currently has a backlog of users wishing to be adopted. This doesn't make much sense, as we have a considerable list of users offer adoption, so there shouldn't be any backlog. I've begun to eliminate this backlog myself through a matching program, but I need your help to make it work. Of course, adoptees and adopters don't have to go through there, but I believe it helps eliminate the backlog because someone is actively matching pairs.

On the list of adopters, I have modified the middle column to say "Interests." It's easier working with other users that have similar interests, so if it's not too much to ask, could you add your interests in the middle column? For example, if I was interested in hurricanes, computers, business, and ... reptiles? I would place those in the middle column. Counter-vandalism and the like can also be included (maintenance should be used as the general term). The more interests, the better, since adoptees can learn more about you and choose the one they feel most comfortable working with. The information about when you're most active and other stuff can go into the "Notes" section to the right.

Finally, I've gone around and asked adoptees (and will in the future) to fill in a short survey so adopters can take the initiative and contact users they feel comfortable working with. We all know that most adoptees just place the adopt me template on their user page and leave it - so it's up to us to approach them and offer adoption. So, please take a look at the survey, adopt those that fit your interests, and maybe watchlist it so you can see the interests of adoptees and adopt one that fits your interests in the future.

Once again, thank you for participating in the adopt-a-user program! If you wish to respond to this post, please message me on my talk page.
