Image copyright problem with Image:Jimwife5.jpeg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Jimwife5.jpeg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Code sm.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Code sm.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because your account is being used only for vandalism. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Eagles 24/7 (C) 22:04, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Daniel Tosh does not own the Daniel Tosh article. You knew very well that vandalizing the page could result in a block based on the template at the top that says it is semi-protected due to vandalism. Eagles 24/7 (C) 22:11, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

{{Unblock|Daniel Tosh said on tonight's tosh.0 that he wanted people to edit his page. I felt that since it was his page, this would be okay. If you look at the other pages I've worked on, this is the only thing I've done wrong. Please consider unblocking my account. I know what I did was wrong, but don't you think that an indefinite ban for a first time offense is a little much? I didn't change or erase any information on the page. I've even fixed pages that were vandalized and hadn't been caught. By all means, you can leave me banned, but I would really like this ban to expire sometime. I'm sorry. Thanks, AmericanXplorer13 (talk) 22:07, 20 October 2010 (UTC)}}[reply]

I do agree with Eagles - vandalizing an article at any time, even if the subject of the article tells you to, is not acceptable here. However, I do also agree with you that an indefinite block seems more than unnecessary at this point, especially given that you have made constructive edits in the past. I'm willing to unblock you, (granted that Eagles is ok with it), with the understanding that you not vandalize any further articles. Regardless of what the TV says. Hersfold (t/a/c) 02:15, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Eagles247 has agreed to allow you to be unblocked. However, as I said, please be aware than vandalism, whatever the reasons for it, is not acceptable here, and any more vandalism will result in another indefinite block without further warning. You should be able to edit now, but please let me know if you have any problems.

Request handled by: Hersfold (t/a/c)

Unblocking administrator: Please check for active autoblocks on this user after accepting the unblock request.

moss image[edit]

Hello - I'm not a moss or plant expert, so I can't give you any info on species etc, but it looks to me like you have a single species of moss which is sporulating. The rest of the items appear to be leaf litter and a sprouting vascular plant of some sort. Regards. de Bivort 17:38, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Green Iguana[edit]

That is an outstanding picture. It really captures a lot of character in the animal. Let me know if you need my support in getting it featured. Great work. It would make a great infobox picture on either the Iguana page or the Green iguana page.--Mike - Μολὼν λαβέ 07:28, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello![edit]

Hi AmericanXplorer 13! Thanks for supporting my featured picture candidate, although judging by the recent barrage of opposition I'm guessing it's going to get shot down :(. I read your profile and I found that we share many similarities! I also own a Canon EOS Rebel XS (although I sold the 18-55 kit lens and bought myself a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 VC). I also like 3D Computer Graphics, and I have also used Autodesk 3ds Max although I now primarily use Rhinoceros 3D for modeling. I'm also 17 years old, which seems to be more or less the same age as you (since your username contains "13" and you said you have been on Wikipedia for over 4 years), although after skipping some grades I'm currently studying in university. The Signpost's "F and A" page[edit]

Hi, I wonder whether you'd be prepared to judge the new FPs for next week. It would just require up to about 140 words nominating your choice and giving your technical/subjective reasons for it. Here's an example. Please let me know, and you want to do it, I'll link you to the draft when it's done, Saturday. Tony (talk) 14:23, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, how's next week? But it might be postponed if there aren't enough, or if people are too preoccupied with the holiday. I could let you know. Tony (talk) 03:41, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There are enough already, but if there aren't too many extras, that would work. Tony (talk) 03:50, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
But given that last year there were quite a lot in the week before the holiday, I'm trying to find another person for this week, assuming you can do next week. Tony (talk) 04:00, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The "window" of promotions is from the Saturday to the Friday before publication, midnight end UTC. So it would mean doing it Saturday or Sunday US east-coast time, possibly Monday if early in your day. Is that possible? Tony (talk) 05:41, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I meant Saturday 25 or Sunday 26 December. Tony (talk) 11:51, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, there are only six promotions, so what about a combined judgement next weekend? Hehe, sorry, it's not usually this convoluted. Tony (talk) 03:36, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good! --AmericanXplorer13 (talk) 04:36, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Proof" of Pythagorean theorem[edit]

I reverted your animation in two places. I can't see how it's a proof, or anything but an illustration that 5 squared is equal to 3 squared plus 4 squared. Dicklyon (talk) 05:35, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Indeed, definitely not a "proof". The word "demonstrates" might be better. I have reworded the image description and the caption in pythagorean triple. However, the picture is, in my opinion, somewhat useful to introduce the concept to people unfamiliar with mathematics. Relevant discussion here. Purpy Pupple (talk) 06:18, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Bioluminescence[edit]

Howdy! Thanks for the nomination. I didn't have a set of diopters in my kit then, and just couldn't get close enough, so the 1MP image is a heavy crop. You can see the original here:

http://resourceroom.org/IMG_5643_denoise.jpg

http://resourceroom.org/IMG_5643.cr2

I think it's a flawed image, to be honest, but I hope to get something feature-worthy next time around.

Here are a few others: http://resourceroom.org/Foxfire

And yes, the exposure really was eight minutes. You basically prep the camera, start the exposure, spend eight minutes motionless, wait another eight minutes for the camera to finish its "dark" frame, see what you got, and try it again. It glows for about a month each fall, and you can take around 20 shots before the sun rises.

All the best,

Ebola[edit]

Hi AmericanXplorer13 did not want to post this on talk.. I live in Africa and we use African time here.. When they say Thursday they don't mention which Thursday. Could be any week. lol Got to love Africa.. Greetings BrianGroen (talk) 18:48, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ebola map[edit]

That's a great map you've made. Have you changed it to show Texas yet? When you do, will you add it to this article? I would appreciate it. SW3 5DL (talk) 15:35, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I meant to say Liberia. Sorry. Also, can you fix the map here and add your map, too? SW3 5DL (talk) 20:11, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Some baklava for you![edit]

Great job on updating the map. I just saw it on the U.S. article. And especially as you've got classes. Well done, you. Thanks. SW3 5DL (talk) 21:07, 8 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Research[edit]

Please don't bite the newcomers. It would be entirely possible to "research" this edit, including the Spanish language reference, and conclude that the right count is two dead Spanish monks plus one infected nurse (which is an objection to your edit summary, not to your edit). Art LaPella (talk) 05:09, 9 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, it's been a long day with unnecessary edits. Those deaths are not counted as Spanish because they were not infected in Spain. They would be counted in the casualties from Africa, I believe. We're using the numbers from the WHO reports. AmericanXplorer13 (talk) 05:24, 9 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Adding Inaccurate Info[edit]

If you want to make significant changes, make sure you know what you're doing. Your revision added inaccurate casualty totals and restored an outdated map that had been amended after more up-to-date info became available. -- Veggies (talk) 22:14, 1 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Editing the Ebola map[edit]

I am attempting to update this .svg file using Illustrator CS6, and have run into two issues: First, vast areas of the map do not appear to be ungroupable (e.g., most of the countries in Africa are unselectable individually). Secondly, uploading SVG files to Wikimedia generates an error code (and this seems to occur independent of the generating application). Do you have any suggestions?--Раціональне анархіст (talk) 09:13, 5 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
