WP:GAN reviews

Hi Ankit Maity. I see that you have starting helping with the backlog of Reviewing Good Article Nominations at Unreviewed good article nominations at Wikipedia:Contribution Team/Backlogs/Participants and progress#Meta which is great, but can I suggest you follow the instructions at WP:GAN and WP:WIAGA.

Some of your actions at GAN review appear very strange:

Pyrotec (talk) 12:33, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

I want to resign because I will not be active lately. Thanks.--Ankit Maity 14:42, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
I was not asking that you resign. There is a process for doing reviews and it was more of a suggestion that you follow the process when you do reviews. When the process is followed it gives others editors, such as myself, and nominators less leverage in asking for a new review. Your Talk:Perl/GA2 review is good so far and you appear to have followed the review process. I'm not objecting to you putting it On Hold, but if no pictures can be found you can't use that as a reason for failing it. Pyrotec (talk) 16:35, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
I am not resigning because of you. I have my activity week so I will not be active lately. Got it??? And the pictures, the layout are not too good and the article is flooded with words. Thanks.--Ankit Maity 02:17, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

GA reviews

I have reverted your fail of Operation Titstorm and pass of Famine in India because both were woefully inadequate. You can't summarily fail articles unless they have plain and serious issues, detailed here (which Titstorm didn't) and you can't summarily pass 35kb articles on controversial topics without a thorough review. Please read WP:RGA and WP:GA? before passing or failing any more articles and in future, be sure to give clear reasons for your decision on the review page. Your copy editing

Hi there! I noticed you added an article to your list on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Backlog elimination drives/March 2011 page, but I believe you may have misunderstood how the drive works. You can only get credit for copy editing articles that have the {{copyedit}} tag on them. Articles with that tag show up on our list, located here. The article you edited, The Heritage School, Kolkata, did not appear to have that tag on it before you began editing it.

Also, to get the word count, you must check the page size before you begin copy editing. In the case of this article, you would need to get the word count from February 28, from this version, which is 455 words, rather than the number 3,442 which appears to be the number of words you added to the article over the last two days. Copy editing is not adding new content to an article. It is the process of correcting grammar, spelling, and punctuation problems with already existing content. Finally, the content you added appears to have a significant amount of original research and unsourced claims, in addition to containing grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors of its own. This type of content is generally not considered appropriate for Wikipedia, unless it has citations.

I hope this doesn't seem too unfriendly, but I wanted to help you out before you did too much work in the wrong direction. I can see that you are doing your work sincerely, and with good intentions, but you should research some of the links I've provided above before continuing with your efforts. Cheers. Just a quick and friendly heads up that this was not vandalism. Per the film's IMDb entry, Mark McGarry is listed as a producer. The IP's edit was correct. Big Bird (talkcontribs) 14:22, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to List of coffee beverages, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you! -- Ankit Maity 12:39, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Ankit, you have made an error. You reverted me and reintroduced the vandalism that I had removed. —Stephen (talk) 12:58, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
Actually I accidentaly reverted your edits on STiKi and thus it is not vandalism. Sorry.--Ankit Maity 13:14, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
Ankit, anyone reverting vandalism should check to see that they are not introducing vandalism at the same time. Of course it's unintentional--and a hazard of doing lots of good anti-vandal work--but you should be particularly careful about reverting established users (those with accounts), and check all prior versions for obvious problems. Sometimes you might have to leave STiki and look at the page itself, or just mark it 'pass' and leave it for someone who can look at it again. I also think you should leave a note on your userpage or talkpage explaining the tendency/possibility for mistakes to be made doing patrolling, and apologizing in advance. Ocaasi (talk) 13:50, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Reviewer granted

Wikipedia Reviewer.svg

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged revisions, underwent a two-month trial which ended on 15 August 2010. Its continued use is still being discussed by the community, you are free to participate in such discussions. Many articles still have pending changes protection applied, however, and the ability to review pending changes continues to be of use.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under level 1 pending changes and edits made by non-reviewers to level 2 pending changes protected articles (usually high traffic articles). Pending changes was applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't grant you status nor change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Coffee // have a cup // essay // 19:46, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

Guild of Copy Editors March 2011 backlog elimination drive

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors March 2011 Backlog elimination drive! Here is your mid-drive newsletter.

Participation
GOCE March 2011 backlog elimination drive progress graphs

So far, 79 people have signed up for this drive. Of these, 64 have participated. Interest is high due to a link to our event from the Watchlist page, and many new and first-time copy editors have joined us for the drive. If you signed up for the drive but haven't participated yet, it's not too late! Try to copy edit at least a few articles. Remember, if you have rollover words from the last drive, you will lose them if you do not participate in this drive. If you haven't signed up for the drive yet, you can sign up now. Many thanks to those editors who have been helping out at the Requests page. We have assisted in the promotion of seven articles to Good article status so far this month.

Progress report

We have already achieved our target of reducing the overall backlog by 10%; however, we have more work to do with the 2009 backlog. We have almost eliminated May 2009 and we only have some 700 articles left from 2009. It is excellent progress, so let's concentrate our fire power on the remaining months from 2009. Thank you for participating in the March 2011 drive. We anticipate it will be another big success!

HI

Hi, I am Vaibhav from Delhi. Can you please tell me what is the minimum number of edits needed for reviewing rights. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vibhijain (talkcontribs) 10:58, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Hi, Vaibhav currently there is no limit of edits to get the reviewer rights. But it depends on your experience and how unique they are. You can add yours here. But I just want to tell you that when I had 434 edits my reviewer rights was declined by Tiptoety and I again refiled it after a few months as Tiptoety told when I had 605 edits it was accepted by Coffee.--Ankit Maity 13:05, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Ankit Maity/Archive index

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ankit Maity/Archive index requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 05:50, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion criteria

Please review speedy deletion criterion WP:A7 before placing further tags. I've just removed two of your recent speedy nominations, which were clearly inappropriate. One concerned a music album, even though creative works like albums, novels, etc are expressly listed as ineligible in the A7 writeup. The other involved a galaxy, which doesn't remotely fit into the categories of subjects identified as eligible for A7 deletion. Speedy deletion criteria are deliberately restrictive, and in case of any question as to eligibility, it's better practice to use standard deletion processes like PROD or AFD. Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors March 2011 Backlog elimination drive. Thank you for participating in the March 2011 drive! This newsletter summarizes the March drive and other recent events.

Participation
GOCE March 2011 backlog elimination drive progress graphs

There were 99 signups for the drive; of these, 70 participated. Interest was high mainly due to a link to our event from the Watchlist page. We had a record-breaking 84 articles listed on the Requests page in March; 11 of these have been promoted to Good article status so far. Several of our recent efforts have received Featured Article status as well, and the GOCE is becoming a solid resource for the Wikipedia community. Many thanks to editors who have been helping out at the Requests page and by copy editing articles from the backlog.

Progress report

Remarkable progress was made in reducing the backlog this month, as we now have fewer than 500 articles remaining from 2009. We are well under the 4,000-article mark for the total number remaining in the queue. Since our backlog drives began in May 2010 with 8,323 articles, we have cleared more than 53% of the backlog. A complete list of results and barnstars awarded can be found here. Barnstars will be distributed over the next week. If you enjoyed participating in our event, you may also like to join the Wikification drives, which are held on alternate months to our drives. Their April drive has started.

Your addition to The Heritage School, Kolkata has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other websites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of article content such as sentences or images. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. John of Reading (talk) 11:28, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

I just want to say it's not copyrighted material for me because I study in this school and I have permission from my teachers and my teachers told it can be used anywhere for educational and non-commercial purposes.--Ankit Maity Talkcontribs 12:22, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
Material published at Wikipedia has to be released under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 License and the GFDL. A release only for "educational and non-commercial purposes" is not enough, as Wikipedia allows its content to be re-used even for commercial purposes. If the school is prepared to release the text under those licenses, there are some formal steps to go through. The page you need is this one.
And even then, it is arguably not appropriate for all that material to appear in the article - see WP:PRIMARY and WP:NOTDIR. -- John of Reading (talk) 12:51, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
It's me again! Is your message at Talk:The Heritage School, Kolkata intended to be a copyright release? The instructions at WP:IOWN talk about the site of the original publication. That's the school website, not the Wikipedia article. The school website still says "© 2005 The Heritage School. All Rights Reserved." -- John of Reading (talk) 15:10, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
That thing I have done a lot before.--Ankit Maity Talkcontribs 15:13, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
Oh, I see. It's not needed. Every page at Wikipedia has a license statement in the small print at the foot of the page. -- John of Reading (talk) 15:20, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
Oh, thanks. But you know one thing I always make minor mistakes in my encyclopedia work. That's why I always get warnings but never blocks. It happens with everyone you know. I don't know why I am so careless you know. --Ankit Maity Talkcontribs 15:23, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

So far, 54 people have signed up for the drive, and 33 are actively participating. If you signed up for the drive but have not participated yet, it's not too late! If you have not signed up for the drive yet, you can sign up now. If you have questions about getting started, feel free to talk to us. Many thanks to those editors who have been helping out at the Requests page. We currently have 17 articles awaiting edit.

Progress report

We are making slow progress on achieving our target of reducing the overall backlog by 15%; in order to accomplish this goal we will need to complete about 400 more articles. However, we are making good progress on the 2009 backlog, as we have eliminated over half of the articles from 2009 that were present at the start of the drive. I bet your pardon...?

I do not appreciate your reverts and accusations of "vandalism" - perhaps you might learn the difference between regular rows and header rows in wikitables, and review the results, before attacking my edits in future with your spam/bot-like remarks on my talk page. Ma®©usBritish (talk) 12:43, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

I am really ashamed of myself. Sorry, but my edits can be kept right.--Ankit Maity Talkcontribs 12:48, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
I would suggest that "sTiki" - whatever it is - is not correctly identifying that changing "| row" to "! header" is acceptable in a wikitable design, to make the table header a different colour. Perhaps you should recommend the coder of that software deal with it, to prevent repeat reverts of genuine edits. Ma®©usBritish (talk) 12:54, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

GOCE drive invitation

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors
Writing Magnifying.PNG

The latest GOCE backlog elimination drive is under way! It began on 1 July and so far 18 people have signed up to help us reduce the number of articles in need of copyediting.

This drive will give a 50% bonus for articles edited from the GOCE requests page. Although we have cleared the backlog of 2009 articles there are still 3,935 articles needing copyediting and any help, no matter how small, would be appreciated.

We are appealing to all GOCE members, and any other editors who wish to participate, to come and help us reduce the number of articles needing copyediting, as well as the backlog of requests. If you have not signed up yet, why not take a look at the current signatories and help us by adding your name and copyediting a few articles. Barnstars will be given to anyone who edits more than 4,000 words, with special awards for the top 5 in the categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words".

Invitation from the Guild of Copy Editors
Writing Magnifying.PNG

The Guild of Copy Editors invites you to participate in their September 2011 Backlog elimination drive, a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy editing backlog. The drive will begin on September 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and will end on September 30 at 23:59 (UTC). We will be tracking the number of 2010 articles in the backlog, as we want to copy edit as many of those as possible. Please consider copy editing an article that was tagged in 2010. Barnstars will be given to anyone who edits more than 4,000 words, with special awards for the top 5 in the categories "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words". please do not add a deletion tag for no contents just 2 minutes after the article was created, as you did for Maj Gen Asad Mehmud Malik ‎ ; some people write a line at a time; give people at least a 15 or 20 or so to finish. Hi Ankit. Regarding Vikram Varma page

Hi Ankit,

Please see how Reptozoid is leaving libellious material on Vikram Varma profile. When I rolled it back, you reverted it. Please google Tourism Mnister Micky and Vikram Varma to see how it has no link to the Vikram Varma profile.

Reptozoid created the profile using libellious material and is now adding to it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by GurgaonUser (talkcontribs) 15:45, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi Ankit. Regarding Vikram Varma page

Hi Ankit,

No problems. Now understand where you are coming from.

To see Reptozoid's biases, please see the very first page he created for Vikram Varma. He did not not mention BBC, Times of India, Channel 4 Coverage when he first created profile. Or how Wikileaks found the girl had been murdered. Reptozoid is only leaving negative views on Vikram Varma

Also, notice how Reptozoid has never created anything on Wikipedia before he logged on to create and put Libel on Vikram Varma's page

File source problem with File:Kollaahal.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Kollaahal.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Hi Ankit, you recently closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Aelita (album) as keep but since no one voted on it, shouldn't it have been relisted? Mattg82 (talk) 14:03, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

If no one comments in the discussion during the seven day period, then it should be relisted at least once. In fact, like tagging pics for deletion. And don't write all those americanish language in my talk page. Whoa, I'm not saying you can't tag stuff for deletion. Everyone has their niche, clearly you've found one you like and that's great. Just asking you to hold off on speedying my experiment (in case you had admin rights). Not that I can't undelete, but it's just easier if I don't have to. And a) I'm Canadian (not American), and b) I'm free to use slang if I choose, and it doesn't make me careless. If anything, I'm taking greater care by uploading my experiment here where I can delete it if it doesn't work, rather than at Commons where I can't delete something that doesn't work. Anyway, doesn't matter, image is now fixed and uploaded at Commons where it belongs, so no worries all round. ♠PMC(talk) 08:41, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

When did they change the AWB rules of use to allow pointless changes like this? Hi, Ankit Maity. I came here for the same purpose as Anomie above. Why are you changing the keeplocal templates on lots of image pages to a slightly different spelling which is exactly equivalent and gives the same result on the page? Feedback Request

Hello Ankit Maity,

Firstly I wanted to thank you for your speedy initial review of my page. Your feedback was helpful and greatly appreciated. I am hoping I could get more detailed feedback from you regarding how to improve my citations on my Neurological Reparative Therapy page. Your feedback included the comments: "Its citation style may be unclear. The references used may be made clearer with a different or consistent style of citation, footnoting or external linking." "Its references may not meet Wikipedia's guidelines for reliable sources." and "This article includes a list of references, but its sources remain unclear because it has insufficient inline citations."

Would you possibly have the time to give me more detailed feedback regarding the sources/citations? I assume I need to add more citations throughout the beginning of the page--most of the citations occur in the "research" section at the end of the page. Is this correct? What else could I specifically improve upon in regards to my citations? Do you have any examples that may be helpful for me?

Thank you for your time and any further help you can give me.

"Move" tab?

Hi,

Thanks for your page move tips at User_talk:Steelpillow#January_2012.

Not too important about the edit history, as I was basically merging two other pages - just did it step by step, for convenience.

You say that "you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab". However I no longer have a "Move" tab. It disappeared with the introduction of the new GUI (about a year ago?) and I assumed that was part of the redesign. Perhaps not. I have made many edits over many years, so should be thoroughly autoconfirmed. I'd appreciate any thoughts on how else it might have happened. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 17:07, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Actually it is under the arrow which directs upwards. You hover your pointer over it and the move tab comes below.--Ankit Maity Talkcontribs 17:12, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
How about that! What an utterly terrible piece of user interface design - It's so random I shall probably not be able to remember it. Thanks, anyway. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 17:35, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
It happened because the "TW" tab needed to add to the interface for Twinkle users.--Ankit Maity Talkcontribs 15:52, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

And reversion

Hi, your reversion of my "move" caused some confusion. As I explained, it was actually a merge of two existing pages under a new title. The active article maintainers had discussed the title for the new page. You evidently did not engage in the discussion on the Talk page before you overrode that consensus. Please can you do so now. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 21:35, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

Just to let you know: in your continuing absence from the discussion, User:Michael Hardy has helped me to unpick your reversion and restore the consensus. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 12:39, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

Ramanujan master theorem is part of every mathematics encyclopedia. I think you review everything very formally. Wikipedia has many mathematics articles that are highly technical and everyone cannot read them. I think a large encyclopedia is for everyone. Different people have different requirements from an encyclopedia.

Mathematical formulas always need to be connected with other mathematical formulas.

Ramanujan master theorem is the only thing i never found on wiki. Even most technical topics are there.(Sumitkumarjha75 (talk) 14:04, 20 January 2012 (UTC))

Sorry, I sound a bit stern, that's not the case, I just wanted to give you some feedback :) -- Luk talk 13:51, 20 January 2012 (UTC)
I know, I make a lot of mistakes as well while using Huggle, but I wanted to raise your awareness on this issue. There's no lack of patrollers at a given time, and taking a few moments to actually fix the stuff is also important. For anything that is not vandalism, we might get some benefits (for example, here, his map is great. It would be a loss if we had to delete it).
For your second question, there's not much to be done, he can move his own submission to the main space as he could have created it directly in mainspace. If you believe the article shouldn't be here, you should nominate it for deletion.
Trust me, I did a lot of patrolling (and I still do some, to "feel" the mood). In the end, what matters is the "bad" edits we salvage. Just my two cents. -- Luk talk 17:10, 20 January 2012 (UTC)

Trademark erosion

The page "Trademark erosion" had had a merge proposal for quite a while. There was a consensus to merge the page, but nothing had yet happened. It is clear that there is no new content there compared to the generic trademark article, so why did you immediately revert my edit, redirecting the page to Generic trademark, with the unhelpful comment "unexplained blanking of page"? I did explain the redirect in the edit summary, and it should be quite clear that the article has no new information and the redirect is correct. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.126.185.231 (talk) 15:56, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

The untrue claim of Real Madrid being more successful in terms of domestic and international trophies than FC Barcelona

Maybe you should read the talk page before issuing warnings my friend. This user Seaboy has already been blocked by Wikipedia but has reappeared again with a new name. He admitted doing so on his talk page.

Moreover the sources he has used are from unreliable blogs. The statements are simply not true. BOTH the Spanish and Catalan Wikipedia pages agree that FC Barcelona have won the mot domestic and international trophies. There are several reliable Spanish sources quoted in both the Spanish and Catalan Wikipedia page about FC Barcelona that states the same. I can without any problem show them to you. None in the Spanish and Catalan versions of the Real Madrid page. This is simply and untrue statement that must be removed.

For further evidence see Real Madrids discussion page.--Crashwheelx (talk) 16:37, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi Ankit. You reviewed this page and left a wealth of templates on the page. However, the submission was a copyright violation, so there's only one template needed: this one. (talk page stalker) Hi there Billhulsizer. I'm not Ankit, but I'm gonna try to answer the questions just in case Ankit can't. Please note that Wikipedia releases all its material under the CC-BY-SA license, which means that not only would the magazine have to release the article to us, but they would have to agree that I could be copied by anyone, with attribution. Very few organizations are really open to this, so you'd need to check that, and them have the magazine and author release it under that license. If you still want to be released, detailed instructions are at Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. However, it might be more trouble then its worth, so as another option you can just use the article as a source, but write everything in your own words. I hope this helps. Proposed deletion

You proposed Giani Ditt Singh for deletion as an unreferenced BLP. Please note that the subject of this article has been deceased for over a century, and therefore is not subject to this deletion process. I have removed the proposed deletion tag, and have completely rewritten the article to be the beginnings of something useful. Singh appears to have been a major influence in early 20th century Sikhism. If you feel the article should still be deleted, please take it to AFD. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:08, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

Yah, thanks for the note.--Ankit Maity Talk | contribs 16:09, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

Feedback please

You tagged Giani Ditt Singh as, among other issues that I agree with, "essay-like", meaning that the article reads too much like a personal reflection. Certainly, the version that was first posted suffered that problem in spades, but I thought I had done a fairly good job in cleaning up the article. Can you please give me some pointers on what you feel could be done to further improve the article to be more encyclopedic?

Thanks! WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:37, 3 February 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for asking me. In my point of view my feedback is as follows:
  • The article in the sections:Personal and Memorials should be expanded.
  • They sections really seem like a essay.
  • I find capitalization errors here and there.
  • In the section Early life, Ravidasia is mentioned as a caste but it is actually a religion.
  • The correct spelling of Ravidasia is Ravidassia and not Ravidasia.

And thanks again for asking me.--Ankit Maity TalkFace-smile.svgContribs 15:48, 3 February 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for your feedback! I doubt there is much more verifiable material available to expand the "Personal" section. The material that existed in the original article was full of material about Singh's parentage and the nobility of his parents and of his wife's parents. This is quite common in Hindu hagiography, but is not really appropriate in an encyclopedia due to verifiability issues. If the pared down sections are still too "essay-like" they should probably be removed. If there are capitalization issues, please address them. (Better to improve an article than just leave a vague tag hoping that someone else might pick up the faults and fix them.) As for Ravidasia, that was the spelling I found in the original article. Linking that term to Ravidassia Religion might not be correct; the two terms might well be unrelated. I have asked the original author to review my work and see if any factual errors have been introduced -- this would be one of the areas I would hope they look at. Information.svg Hi Ankit Maity. Thank you for your work on patrolling new pages and tagging for speedy deletion. I'm just letting you know that I declined your deletion request for Hyperimmunization, a page that you tagged for speedy deletion, because the criterion you used or the reason you gave does not cover this kind of page. Please take a moment to look at the suggested tasks for patrollers and review the criteria for speedy deletion. Particularly, the section covering non-criteria. Such pages are best tagged with proposed deletion, proposed deletion for biographies of living persons, or sent to the appropriate deletion discussion. At the time you tagged it, it read "Hyperimmunization is the presence of a larger-than-normal number of antibodies to a specific antigen. This creates a state of immunity greater than normal. Immune system overactivity can cause many different diseases." So, context is pretty clear there, and why you nominated it as having none, not so clear. Hi,

Thanks for your answer on Template_talk:Editnotices/Page/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Check_Wikipedia/Translation#Other_elements.

First, I don't see how I can edit the template myself : I do have an "Edit" link on the top right as usual but when I click on it I end up on a "View source" page with a notice at the top saying that only administrators and accountcreators can edit it.

On my request: I'm the developer of WPCleaner tool. This tool can help for several tasks including fixing errors reported by the Check Wikipedia project. I just wanted to add on the edit notice that, in addition to the 3 elements that are directly used by Wikiproject Check Wikipedia to refresh the list of pages with errors, other elements can also be configured to configure other tools that help fixing errors detected by Check Wikipedia project. The feature already exists (WPCleaner can use elements other than the 3 currently documented), so I just want to document it. --NicoV (talk) 12:48, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

Relisting AfDs

Conventionally only admins are allowed to take action on an AfD - this includes relisting them, but having realised that non-admins are allowed to close AfDs with little discussion as NC they probably should be allowed to relist as well.

The actual problem I've come to raise is... you haven't relisted them properly! You need to remove the listing from the "day log" of the nomination / last relisting date [6] and add the listing to today's "day log".[7]

Hope that's been useful advice. Deryck C. 16:04, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Also, when closing AfD's as a non-admin, it is standard to disclose that you are not an admin. This is mentioned at both WP:NACD (a guideline) and WP:NAC (an essay). The typical way of disclosing this is by simply adding "(non-admin closure)" after your closing statement. Also, please remember to remove the AfD template from the article after closing the AfD, and optionally adding a {{Old afd multi}} template to the article's talk page. You failed to do either of those things for Antoine Beaussant, which you closed today.
Closing AfD's is really an admin area; non-admins are tolerated as long as they clearly know what they're doing. It might be worthwhile to consider brushing up a little more on how this area of Wikipedia works before continuing to close and relist AfD's. —SW— gossip 01:19, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
