Animal cats[edit]

Hi. The categories are nested within each other. If something is in Category:Pleistocene mammals, it doesn't need to also be in Category:Pleistocene life. It's a redundancy. --DanielCD 19:32, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

If you think you can improve on what's there, by all means go for it. Sounds like a good idea. --DanielCD 19:47, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Smilodon[edit]

It was a reversion error on my part, and I've reverted myself. Thanks for the heads up. :) – ClockworkSoul 02:58, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • No worries, thanks for the quick response. I've removed my post on your talk page and responded in the discussion page for the Smilodon. Keep up the good work. --aremisasling 04:08, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Categories - Life through Geological Time[edit]

Hi Aremisasling

I like your idea of having a nested epochal classification of living organisms through time. I've been making a few new categories along the lines you suggest. My only concern is with your definition of "animal". By "animal" do you mean metazoan (scientific definition), vertebrate, tetrapod (common definition, e.g. many people think of insects as "bugs" rather than "animals"), "higher" tetrapod, mammal, or what?

Hmm, ok i just re-read what you wrote on your user page - you include echinoderms, worms, etc under animal (the proper scientific definition). Duhh, should've read more carefully the first time before saying the above! Ok, my suggestion now is that your kingdom-based classification is much too broad. It means that we wouldn't have more than two or three subcategories under "<geological era> life" - protists, plants, and animals (fungi are poorly represented in the fossil record, and prokaryotes aren't very interesting in the Phanerozoic). This results in an unnecessary large number of nested categories, which makes it tedious clickling though each one. It would be much better imho to just have the top classification as "Life" (which you have), and under that have the phylum and, where necessary, class level classification.

The category "animals" can still be kept as a colloquial term for what the man in the street recognises as an animal (generally a tetrapod)

It might also be an idea (if we are to do this in a serious way) to scrap the term "prehistoric" as in archeology etc it refers to paleolithic, neolithic, and so on (i.e. before history).

Rasmussen/Election Polls[edit]

Sorry, I didn't notice your talk page comment on the polling page. I do think daily updates are too much. What do you think about weekly updates for both Rasmussen and Gallup? I do agree that something regular should be worked out, so that it doesn't just get updated when an editor sees a poll that support his/her candidate! Scope of the "List of private spaceflight companies" article[edit]

Hi Aremisasling. There is an interesting, and much needed, discussion going on at Talk:List_of_private_spaceflight_companies#Clarification_of_the_list_title. Since you have previously contributed to the List of private spaceflight companies page, I wanted to invite you to join the conversation. N2e (talk) 00:20, 12 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for all your input to the discussion to date. Please see me comment on the recent significant change to the article name/scope by another (quite well-intentioned) editor, and my proposal for what to do about it. N2e (talk) 14:10, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much for your input to the discussion on Talk:List_of_private_spaceflight_companies. Much appreciated. And then further thanks for taking the consensus and moving the article name back to the consensus position, i.e., what it was before the recent "move". I think that article is back in good (interim) order and will improve over time as it evolves in Wikipedia fashion.
I believe it will be useful to stop and have a meta-discussion to hash out the issue of the scope of Private spaceflight or privately-funded space or NewSpace, and that this will likely affect several WP articles. To that end, I have made an initial proposal to get started on both Talk:NewSpace and on Talk:Private spaceflight. You are invited to participate. And if you know other similarly interested editors, please do let them know as well. After we figure out which TalkPage to have our discussion, it would be helpful if you would perhaps invite some other editors who have engaged with you previously on this topic as I can see you've been trying to get this going for some time. As they say in Australia, "Good on ya." Cheers. N2e (talk) 05:10, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Article move[edit]

I have reverted your move of Conestoga (rocket) because it does not comply with the proper guidelines: WP:RND. If you wish for there to be an article on the company, then create one because this is the article for the rockets. You should also not move pages without discussing them first. -MBK004 17:58, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Spaceflight portals[edit]

Hello! As an member editor of one or more of the Spaceflight, Human spaceflight, Unmanned spaceflight, Timeline of spaceflight or Space colonisation WikiProjects, I'd like to draw to your attention a proposal I have made with regards to the future of the spaceflight-related portals, which can be found at Portal talk:Spaceflight#Portal merge. I'd very much appreciate any suggestions or feedback you'd be able to offer! Many thanks,

WikiProject Spaceflight activity[edit]

Hello there! As part of an effort to determine how many active editors are present in the spaceflight-related WikiProjects, changes have been made to the list of members of WikiProject Spaceflight. If you still consider yourself to be an active editor in this project, it would be appreciated if you would please edit the list so that your name is not struck out - thus a clearer idea of the number of active editors can be determined. Many thanks in advance!

Wikipagan?[edit]

Hi, rummaging through old communications on my Talk page and ran across yours. Looking you up (I'm always interested in what smart people have to say), I found this on your page:

*WikiPagan - a WikiCities project covering subjects of interest
to Pagans from a Pagan perspective. Launched in early 2005.
Currently only a few contributors.

Can I trouble you for the URL?

Best regards,

Sure! I haven't been editing there or really all that much here on Wikipedia for some time due to personal commitments, but the site still seems to be fairly active. It used to be pagan.wikicities.com, but it has been moved to [pagan.wikia.com]. aremisasling (talk) 18:31, 23 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

No one, least of all me, is trying to keep you out of longevity. Various editors are using various tools to clean up that area, which includes seeking enforcement of DS. We need more editors with broader editing experience outside the topic to participate. Legacypac (talk) 20:52, 15 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't suspect you were targeting me in specific or targeting anyone in specific, for that matter. But I did see a lot of people being referred for disciplinary action up to and including topic bans. And whether or not they deserved it I was pretty nervous about having one slip get me in the same boat. Not because I thought you had it in for me, but for the same reason I get nervous when a police officer is behind me on the road. I'm a good driver, but it just takes one slip up for the lights to come on. That's not something I've felt on Wikipedia before and it was certainly something I felt in the proceedings on Longevity. Whether or not that was the intent is a different matter altogether. In the end Longevity is an interest of mine, but not one I'm willing to get a ban over, so I stayed out of it. aremisasling (talk) 17:36, 17 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
