SF images[edit]

Hey, good find with those pics from Star Fox 2. Most new members don't know this, but an image can have multiple versions, which eliminates a lot of time adding the old ones to the Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. I went ahead and listed the old ones. Also, apply a correct image tag to new images. Just wanted to let you know, and keep up the good work. Thunderbrand July 3, 2005 00:42 (UTC)

Venomian Army[edit]

I was gonna make the Venomian Army page a redirect, since most of what is written is at the Venom section at the Star Fox planets article, although I wasn't sure since maybe you are going to add some more to it. Do you want it redirected or left alone for now? Thunderbrand 22:43, July 11, 2005 (UTC)

SF planets[edit]

I noticed your edits to the MacBeth and Corneria (and others maybe, I don't have the time right now) sections are word-for-word from the Star Fox instruction manual. Please re-write it. You wouldn't want to get into any trouble now, would you? Thunderbrand 18:19, July 14, 2005 (UTC)

Orca and кoсатка[edit]

Hi, Arima. I just wanted to make sure you knew that I'm not removing "кoсатка" from the Orca article arbitrarily, in case you weren't watching the page history. The Russian term has been discussed before here. While most of that was just to figure out the correct term[1], my last comment is still relevant. There just isn't anything that I can see etymologically that has anything to do with "fierceness", which is the topic of the paragraph. I may be wrong, but if I am, I'd like to see a specific reason. —HorsePunchKid 19:39, July 18, 2005 (UTC)

Kirby[edit]

You commented on the Kirby talk page: A lot of people don't know if the Name came from a Nintendo Executive or the Brand of Vacuum Cleaner.

Do you know which one? Do you even know for sure that it is one of those two, or is that an unfounded rumor? If you can write something factual on this topic, please do so in the article. Aerion//talk 02:22, 27 July 2005 (UTC)

SF characters ages[edit]

Did you get the ages for the characters from Star Fox 64 from the player's guide or somewhere else? If it wasn't from somewhere official, they should be removed. Thunderbrand 01:50, July 28, 2005 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Smbyoshi2.jpg[edit]

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Smbyoshi2.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an arguement why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Dethomas 06:19, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Zanzibar II.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Zanzibar II.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fair use rationale for Image:SuperFamicomWarsIn-Game.png[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:SuperFamicomWarsIn-Game.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 22:32, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Sgt Saunders.PNG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Sgt Saunders.PNG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:23, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:MarioWreckingCrew98-LuigiVSKoopaTro.png[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:MarioWreckingCrew98-LuigiVSKoopaTro.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. Image copyright problem with File:MarioWreckingCrew98-TitleScreen.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:MarioWreckingCrew98-TitleScreen.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

File permission problem with File:Russian Survival Machete.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Russian Survival Machete.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 22:18, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:Super Famicom Wars - Title Screen.PNG[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Super Famicom Wars - Title Screen.PNG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Watered stock, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page James Fisk (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
