Hi, I noticed that you said you wished to release the image to the public domain. However it's currently GFDL. If you've changed your mind, no worries. However in case you're not sure how, you can use this tags{{PD-self}} (if you did create the image yourself) Nil Einne 17:49, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your image uploads[edit]

Hi-

I was patrolling unused images and noticed some of your image uploads [1] which appear to have incomplete or conflicting information. For example, Image:Buk and gleason.jpg says that the copyright holder has released all rights, but that the image is released under a creative commons license and it does not give the actual source for the image. Are you, personally, the photographer for these images? If so, could you add that statement to your image uploads? If not, can you add the name of the person/website/etc where you found the images? Please see WP:IUP for more information on Wikipedia's image use policy. If I can help you select the correct tag in any case, please feel free to ask. Thank you. --BigDT 00:52, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

<<<<<<<<<<<<<THAN HELP ME MISTER CONCERNED>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I took every photo i uploaded. frankly, wikipedia just isn't user-friendly enough to allow for uncomplicated additions and I gave up long ago, so very sorry if i did not cross every T and dot every "i" - I would rather have teeth extracted than attempt to comprehend the hair-splitting torturous methods whereby someone ins in compliance with everything here.

To repeat I took every image i uploaded and was basically told by the wiki community that i wasn't jumping HOW HIGH or filling out the RIGHT FORMS and yet the idea of providing me with a simple link to do so completely eluded all of the concerned monitors around here.

ALL I EVER ASKED WAS: how do you do that - and you all send me incomprehensible instruction manuals with dense terminology and insider jargon instead SIMPLE LINKS as in "You write "XXX" at this link (link) but no.

Ok ... I'll try to help ... image description pages should have, at a minimum:
    • A description of what the image is (if it is not obvious).
    • A statement of who created the image (in this case, who took the photograph)
    • The license under which the image is released. For images that you, yourself, took, the best practice is to use {{PD-self}}, {{GFDL-self}}, or {{self|Cc-by-sa-2.5}}. If you have no preference in the matter, I suggest {{GFDL-self}} - that is the license under which all of your Wikipedia contributions are licensed.
So, for example, the image description page for Image:Buk and gleason.jpg could be changed to say, as an example:
==Description==
This photo depicts [[Charles Bukowski]], along with his friends, John Smith, and Jane Doe. I took this photograph in 1988.

==Licensing==
{{GFDL-self}}
Does this help? --BigDT 16:38, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:McGrath.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:McGrath.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
