Tip of the day

Search Wikipedia faster with Google search tricks
  1. Wikipedia-specific Google searchbox: The default Wikipedia search engine can be slow and unreliable. Luckily, alternatives are available, such as a customized Google searchbox already preset to search Wikipedia:
    1. Click "edit this page" above, and then cut and paste the link to your Userpage, or...
    2. Click on it, and save it as a button on your browser's toolbar...
    3. Or both!
  2. Search Wikipedia and the web at the same time: A9, Amazon.com's search engine, conducts multi-searches. Just checkmark the web and wikipedia boxes, enter your search term in the search box, and click Go. There's a box for each type of search, and you can select as many as you like.

Galloping Gertie (song)[edit]

see also: Galloping Gertie (edit|talk|history|protect|delete|links|watch|logs|views)

I notice you deleted Galloping Gertie (song). I am notifying you that I created it again at Galloping Gertie; could you undelete the revisions of the article and move them to Galloping Gertie?--Launchballer 18:24, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

Except for notability and primary sources tags and the WP:PROD (the tagger's concern was ' Could not find sources verifying song's notability beyond its use in Family Guy '), here's the total content deleted last May:
"This is a famous saloon piano song by Sam Fonteyn. It is used as the "Play me off, Johnny" music by the Vaudeville characters, Johnny and Vern, on Family Guy. This song shares a name with the nickname of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge (1940), though it is unknown if the bridge got its nickname from this song.

Your assistance please[edit]

You deleted the redirect Sarajudim (Guantanamo detainee -- not on the official list), as db-g7. Could you please tell me where it pointed?

Thanks Geo Swan (talk) 23:16, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

Sorry for the delay - it was a db-g8 redirect to Sarajudim, which was a redirect you had tagged db-g7 after moving the article to User:Geo Swan/Guantanamo/Sarajudim, which now redirects to User:Geo Swan/Afghans repatriated from Guantanamo on 2003-03-23. – Athaenara 16:55, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

Input request[edit]

Hello Athaenara,

I am requesting input from all participants in the discussion from the recent Signpost article on sexism in Wikipedia for a proposal at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/National teams#Proposed change: consistency in article title gendering. Thank you in advance for any contributions to the discussion. Dkreisst (talk) 21:14, 9 May 2013 (UTC)

Richard Pearce (British actor)[edit]

in re: Richard Pearce (British actor) (edit|talk|history|protect|delete|links|watch|logs|views)

Hello Athaenara. A few years ago in 2011, the article Richard Pearce (British actor) was deleted, causing a few red links to suddenly appear (see disambiguation page Richard Pearce and article The Adventures of Tintin, that I am trying to improve for FA. The red link in that particular article is not a point in favor for it, referring to Mr. Pearce's suddenly non-existent article. I understand the notability issue. My question is, can we get the deleted article back? Maybe then I can expand it a bit and we won't have red links. Cheers. —Prhartcom (talk) 21:18, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

I restored it per your request and removed the two-year-old WP:PROD tag. I hope it can be improved sufficiently to protect it from further deletion tagging (WP:AFD would be a possibility, although it probably couldn't be speedied or prodded again). Good luck. – Athaenara 13:18, 30 June 2013 (UTC)
Thanks to you, Athaenara. Yes, I suppose I'll have to work to improve this small article so that it won't be a black eye on the big article (that I'd rather be working on, that no one had been working on for two years). Thanks for wishing me good luck. Cheers. —Prhartcom (talk) 02:51, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

Dude perfect[edit]

in re: Dude perfect (edit|talk|history|protect|delete|links|watch|logs|views)

Hi. Why exactly was the article on Dude perfect deleted? Was there a discussion? Also could you be kind enough to give me the content of that page? --cha 11:03, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

It was created three years ago by user Eaglerunner24 (talk · contribs), who edited it for about 15 minutes on 12 July 2010 and then blanked the page and added a {{db-g7}} tag to request deletion.
For a copy, you can ask one of the more than 150 admins in Category:Wikipedia administrators willing to provide copies of deleted articles (I'm not in it). – Athaenara 13:30, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

Ameritz[edit]

Hello! This is just a polite notification to say that Ameritz, an article you deleted, has been resurrected as a disambiguation page. Ameritz Karaoke, which was the subject previously at Ameritz, has been redirected to the song it covered because there is not enough information to justify a standalone article. Could you move the deleted revisions of Ameritz to Ameritz Karaoke please?--Launchballer 01:07, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

Help restoring an article from my user space[edit]

Hello, several years ago an article from my user space was deleted: "05:40, 18 June 2010 Athaenara (talk | contribs) deleted page User:Robert Kavanaugh/IsoSproutPlex (G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion)." As I don't have any wiki-formatted version of that draft, and as I'm seeking help with review and publication of an article on IsoSproutPlex from some of the same individuals who were involved in the original AfD trial, based upon the recent third-party, peer-reviewed journal articles on the subject, I need a starting point to help them help me. Is it possible to undelete this article back into my user space so I can work on it in a wikimedia format? Thank you in advance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Robert Kavanaugh (talkcontribs) —Preceding undated comment added 14:52, 21 November 2013‎ (UTC)

You have a mime[edit]

See [[1]] Hell in a Bucket (talk) 15:17, 29 March 2014 (UTC)

  • That would be a "mimic", HIAB. Or a "doppelgänger", if you will. ;-) Kurtis (talk) 19:49, 29 March 2014 (UTC)
Sorry for my delay in replying (this is my first visit to Wikipedia since early March). The brief discussion currently located in WP:ANI/Archive833 was initiated by a single-purpose and now properly blocked user "AthaenaraEmergencyAccount" who claimed "My e-mail has been hacked by someone and now I cannot log into my Wikipedia admin account" among other things. Thank you HIAB for the alert, thank you Kurtis for the linguistic bit, and TONS of thanks with hearts and butterflies and barnstars to LFaraone for investigating and blocking! – Athaenara 02:14, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

Paros[edit]

You deleted an entry ( Jerome Paros) on which I was working in my sandbox. I was under the impression ( mistakenly apparently) that the sandbox was an area in which the author might create a rough sketch and do work prior to formal submission. I didn't think it would actually be subject to scrutiny and public review prior to formal submission. What I assembled in the sandbox were a series of random thoughts in the process of being properly organized and referenced. I was also in the process of excising any inappropriate material. I was shocked and surprised to find that my entry was being scrutinized and evaluated before I had an opportunity to fully edit it to my satisfaction. I would like the opportunity to complete the entry and would also appreciate your input as to which aspects you considered "promotional." I would certainly incorporate your suggestions into my final efforts. AppreciativelyParos1 (talk) 21:11, 10 May 2014 (UTC)Lawrence Paros ( Paros1)

Deletion User Paros1/sandbox

Hi Athaenara. I notice that you deleted my entry at Paros1/sandbox. Any chance that page could be restored? I would like to modify the page so that it is neutral in tone and content and does not serve as a promotion. I am also confused on the nature of the sandbox, believing that it was an area in which one might experiment. My work there was nowhere close to being a finished product. How is that it was deleted though I had never finished the entry nor submitted it for review? Paros1 (talk) 21:44, 12 May 2014 (UTC)Lawrence Paros

I think the messages posted for you on your user talk page and the suggestions and links provided in the deletion log supplied the answers, if you will read them, to your questions. – Athaenara 03:33, 24 May 2014 (UTC)
