How to get a list of a page's subpages Many pages in the Wikipedia, Portal, and User namespaces, have subpages. WikiProjects and user pages for instance often have subpages, and Portals always do.
To get a list of all the subpages for a particular page, click on Special pages in the toolbox menu on the left side of your screen. Then click on All pages which is at the top of the list that appears. Then select the namespace the page is in (from the pulldown menu), and enter the pagename in the inbox that has the caption Display pages starting at, and press Go.
If the page's name you entered was "pagename", then all the subpages would start with "pagename/".
Try it now: Special:Allpages

Um, here goes an interesting story. I stumbled upon Avner Shats article by following a link from Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2011 September 9#Template:Hoax, and just out of curiosity, found a couple of useful references, which hopefully proved he's real. So I fixed the article [1].
Then, I noticed that Nosuchuser (talk · contribs) requested that you remove the prod from that same article back in August. That was his sole contribution.
I'm not affiliated with Nosuchuser (although I admire his creativity in username selection :-) ), I don't know Avner Shats, I'm not from Israel... though he seems to have at least two fans nicknamed... No such user (talk) 15:35, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

[edit] The Spirit Level book dispute
→ in re: The Spirit Level: Why More Equal Societies Almost Always Do Better (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)
→ see also: Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/The Spirit Level (book) (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)
→ previous discussion: User talk:Athaenara/Archive 3#Formal mediation has been requested- Clear some things up
Awhile ago you posted a third opinion on The Spirit Level article here and it caused some confusion. You stated that multiple sources as well as notability were needed to make an addition to the article. For future reference: 1) Multiple sources are not needed to add material to an established article. If you look at the WP:Verifiability policy, it states that only one source is needed, by using the word source in the singular. This is also made clear by the fact that lots of information in articles on Wikipedia only have one source attributed to them. 2) Regarding notability, if you look at the WP:Notability policy it states, "These notability guidelines only outline how suitable a topic is for its own article or list. They do not directly limit the content of an article or list". In other words, notability is only required for the creation of the article itself, not for everything contained in the article. Also, see the section (here). Somedifferentstuff (talk) 02:24, 21 September 2011 (UTC)
- It was an independent third opinion, not a policy decision or an administrative action, and it was three months ago (diff). I don't know why the editors of that article have been having so much difficulty resolving their disagreements, but I am not and will not be involved. I regret that my honest attempt to help by responding to a WP:3O request failed. – Athaenara ✉ 03:56, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Ronald William Turner
→ in re: Ronald William Turner (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)
Hello,
If you are a super-alert person, the subject line should tip you off as to my problem with this article.
In the process of posting this hero's biography, I came to the embarrassing realization that sometime in the research/writing process, I changed him into William Ronald Turner. Because I will have to revisit the entirety of my research to weed any insertions of the wrong Turner, with resultant rewriting, I withdrew the article with the aim of reposting it when it has undergone massive correction. What will I have to do to repost it after correction?

[edit] Talk pages of deleted Commons content
When deleting talk pages of files moved to Commons, I would appreciate if you could move over old content, especially {{oldffdfull}}, {{oldpuffull}}, which have Commons equivalents ({{oldffdfull-en}} and {{oldpuffull-en}} respectively). This helps avoid duplicate discussions and deletion requests. Magog the Ogre (talk) 13:47, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Weavers Way Co-op
→ in re: Weavers Way Co-op (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs) (RfU)
While I did not author the Weavers Way Co-op page, I question why you removed it. As a dynamic organization with over 5,000 members, a strong urban farming program, an educational arm and a newspaper with a circulation of over 23,000, Weavers Way is the largest co-op in Philadelphia. Any chance we could get it reinstated, or would I have to start from scratch? I saw the deletion was in part because sources for the info on it was not cited, but it appeared to come primarily from the Weavers Way website www.weaversway.coop. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jonmcgo (talk • contribs) 21:02, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- That page was tagged 00:09, 26 April 2011 (UTC) for {{proposed deletion}} by Swpb (talk · contribs), whose concern was undersourced and no indication of notability, with no improvement since 2007. Per WP:PROD, seven days passed during which other editors could have addressed the concern or objected. That did not happen, so it was deleted after a week. If you wish, you may list it at Requests for undeletion. (Who is "we" btw?) – Athaenara ✉ 10:51, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Guess it was more than I expected there to be... WOW, this user is REALLY going at it with the tours. Not only are the only sources for each one fansites, a bunch of them are just (album title) Tour. - I forgot to mention that the edit box, which had been sizeable when things were working properly, is now only half page-width and squashed over on the left side of the page. I had exactly two "gadgets" checked (an [edit] link for lead section of page and "+" instead of "new section" tab) and no custom js. I unchecked the two gadgets and purged, no change. I deleted User:Athaenara/monobook.css, purged, emptied cache, went offline, and restarted my computer, no change. I don't know how long it would take me to figure out how to post a screenshot, but I'll pass.

- Notification, if at all, is usually by those who tag files per Moving files to the Commons, and generally uploaders have such pages on their watchlists so they'll be aware when files have been tagged. [edit] Commons files with multiple versions in history
I would like to remind you that if a Commons file has multiple versions in its history, that all of the file versions are required to be on Commons for it to be eligible for F8. While it usually won't come back to bite us in the butt if we ignore the rules on it, that's true for any deletion criterion.
If you don't have the time to transfer to old versions to Commons, let me know and I'll use my bot to do it; you can even let me know afterwards, because the bot can see deleted versions of a file. Again, my bot would be public but the toolserver admin has placed a very low priority on fixing the server bug that's not letting it function.
In any case, I totally understand not wanting to move over old images; it's tedious enough that, in fact, I did write a bot to automate the task.
Magog the Ogre (talk) 23:08, 14 October 2011 (UTC)PS. I'm talking about multiple versions of the same image; not times when the image should be split. If it should be split, well then we just have to split it. Magog the Ogre (talk) 23:08, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reminder. I don't transfer files myself, but before deleting local duplicates I'll be more diligent in determining whether multiple versions of a file exist and have been transferred. If multiple versions exist but haven't been properly transferred, I'll try to remember to note that in the local file. – Athaenara ✉ 01:57, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion nomination of File:Male Blue Dragonfly Australia.jpg

A tag has been placed on File:Male Blue Dragonfly Australia.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit] Computer-assisted gaming
Hi! At Wikipedia:Third opinion#How to list a dispute I read this: "Before making a request here, be sure that the issue has been thoroughly discussed on the article talk page. 3O is only for assistance in resolving disagreements that have come to a standstill." Do you see something different? Because I note that you have restored a 3O request that I had removed, for an article where the matter has not been discussed at all, in any way, on the article talk page. One of us is misreading those listing instructions; obviously, I don't think it is me, though I'm always open to correction. What do you think? Cordially, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 00:45, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
- Most are on article talk pages but, as in this case (see User talk:MrOllie/Archive 3#Computer assisted gaming), disputes listed are not infrequently on user talk pages as well. The location of the dispute ("talk page discussion" currently in 2nd paragraph) is not a technical requirement for 3O, and if memory serves me the project page used to mention that (HelloAnnYong, RegentsPark, or other longtime 3Oers may recall or be able to dig it up). I do think transparency is best maintained when article disputes are on the associated article talk pages but people who are disagreeing about something on Wikipedia don't always land there first. – Athaenara ✉ 10:56, 24 November 2011 (UTC)

- That page was tagged 20:06, 15 June 2011 (UTC) for {{proposed deletion}} by Neutrality (talk · contribs), whose concern was No reliable and independent sources to indicate notability of this subject. Per WP:PROD, seven days passed during which other editors could have addressed the concern or objected. That did not happen, so it was deleted after a week. I restored it per your objection but it may again be tagged for deletion as long as no independent WP:RS which attest to its notability (WP:N) are cited. – Athaenara ✉ 10:44, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

Why did you tag this for G8-exempt? Talk pages with nothing except a wikiproject tag are not useful for the project. Nyttend (talk) 21:59, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
[edit] Undelete request?
No idea how this whole thing works so sorry about my noobishness. But a few years ago you deleted a page without discussion as far as I can tell. The page was Talk:Pretentious language. As that page was appropriate and also included my only contribution to wikipedia, I am requesting that you undelete it. Thank you, (BWE the real one. (talk) 16:44, 13 December 2011 (UTC))BWE_the real_one.
ETA: Sorry, The deleted page is not the talk page (though that is also deleted) but the main article at /pretentious_language. Hopefully this is easy to straighten out.
Again, many thanks. BWE the real one. (talk) 22:25, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

[edit] The Mob (American punk band)
→ in re: The Mob (American punk band) (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)
Hi there Athaenara, I wanted to ask if you could you please reactivate the Wikipedia article for The Mob? The Mob is an influential New York Hardcore band referenced in a number of Wikipedia Articles including those below. Additionally, the Mob has a number of active projects in 2012
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Big_Apple_Rotten_To_The_Core (in which notes:Cover photos and PR were provided by Scott Eisner, one of the first writers to use the expression "hardcore punk", in a review of The Mob.[1])
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heart_Attack_(band) - lists the start of The Mob
In 2012, The Mob will be the first non-Clutch band to have have a set being released by Weathermaker Music: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weathermaker_Music. Joe Franz will be producing an accompanying documentary on The Mob: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Frantz
The timeline of The Mob can be found on the Mob Facebook Page:https://www.facebook.com/themob101?sk=info
I hope that you will consider reinstating a Wikipedia article on The Mob

Hi, could you please undelete the page Atlas of UTR Regulatory Activity ? You deleted it because there was "No independent and reliable cites to support claim of notability". Now I have a scientific journal peer-reviewed published article to use as an independent source. thank you very much and have a nice day, Erik --Cibioltg (talk) 10:07, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

[edit] MSU Interview
Dear Athaenara,
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:- Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
- Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
- All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
- All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
- The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your name HERE instead. If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.
Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) 04:25, 14 February 2012 (UTC)
[edit] Add again an article about BigDFT
→ in re: BigDFT (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)
You deleted on 29 April 2011, the article "BigDFT" with the following reason :(WP:PROD: Nominated for seven days with no objection: reason was "unremarkable software product.").
I would like to create again a page about BigDFT which is cited on different pages on Wikipedia. This software is only used by physicists (one hundred roughly) but this area of real-space basis sets methods is growing and we use a lot wikipedia for our students. It is really important to have a good description in wikipedia of Quantum Chemistry and Physics Methods. Tdoune (talk) 14:26, 14 February 2012 (UTC)
- Restored original article, which you are free to expand/improve per User:Tdoune/BigDFT. – Athaenara ✉ 09:55, 18 February 2012 (UTC)
