New England Wikimedians summer events![edit]

Upcoming events hosted by New England Wikimedians!

After many months of doubt, nature has finally warmed up and summer is almost here! The New England Wikimedians user group have planned some upcoming events. This includes some unique and interesting events to those who are interested:

Although we also aren't hosting this year's Wikimania, we would like to let you know that Wikimania this year will be occurring in London in August:

If you have any questions, please leave a message at Kevin Rutherford's talk page. You can unsubscribe from future notifications for Boston-area events by removing your name from this list.

June 2014[edit]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Caochangdi may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, BracketBot (talk) 03:48, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

It was just a mismatch between English and Chinese brackets "()", but thank you BracketBot, you sexy thing ;-) ;-) Λυδαcιτγ 03:53, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Question[edit]

May I please ask "when" you moved to Beijing, and if it's permanent? Supersaiyen312 (talk) 21:41, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

@Supersaiyen312: Certainly! I came here for the first time in February of 2012, and since then I've been back and forth between Beijing, Taiwan and the US, with my stays in Beijing adding up to a little over a year in total. I'm still not sure about whether it's permanent or not - China has a lot of great things going for it, but it's also a hard place to live long-term.
I take it you're interested in Japan? I'm just starting to learn Japanese now, and I went to Tokyo for the first time last month. Also a fascinating country! Λυδαcιτγ 07:20, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for replying Audacity, that made me feel better. Yes, I like a lot of countries in the world actually, the tops including Japan, Iceland, New Zealand, Canada, etc. I'm just curious why you chose Beijing though, not Hong Kong, Macau, or Taiwan? I've never set foot outside the United States, but Taiwan seems like the more innocent place to me if I had to choose. However, I'm no expert on these countries so it doesn't really matter. Supersaiyen312 (talk) 13:27, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
@Supersaiyen312:My primary goal was learning Chinese, and I had Chinese international student friends in college, so mainland China was the logical place. In retrospect it was a good decision, since people's English is better in places like Taiwan and Hong Kong, and you don't get as many chances to learn Chinese. But China's also a very exciting place to be at the moment - you can see a lot of fascinating changes happening in front of your eyes. Λυδαcιτγ 13:46, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
Alright, I understand. And my bad about the edit on the article, I feel stupid now, lol. Supersaiyen312 (talk) 13:54, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
@Supersaiyen312:No worries! You should see some of my old edits. Λυδαcιτγ 13:57, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
