The article James Umar McConnell has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Numerous references to self published and primary sources, but no indication of coverage that would satisfy WP:BIO.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. VQuakr (talk) 07:35, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Closing AfD discussions[edit]

AfD discussions typically run for a week and are generally closed by an administrator. Once the AfD is over, the closing admin will remove the AfD template from the article. Removing it before then is generally considered vandalism. VQuakr (talk) 18:14, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

James Umar McConnell[edit]

I just wanted to drop you a note offering help if I can be of assistance--it appears that you're new to wikipedia, and I do not wish you to feel bitten. One thing you might consider in regard to James Umar McConnell is asking an admin to put the article in your user space for further work. There is no guarantee they will agree, given the dearth of sources, but it's worth asking. Also, for what it's worth, I did comment on your interpretation of my handle, but to be honest, I'm not sure what you meant (since my understanding of the term "jinn" is steeped in popular north american culture). --Nuujinn (talk) 10:33, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the good words. I do believe this article is recipient of bias and ignorance. I am concerned about people entering and judging foreign or unfamiliar topics that if reviewing something more familiar or common, they would not think twice about the subject and just take it as fact – not needing a reference for each small claim. Other articles more familiar to people are not met with such judgment, that is certain. Aside from all that, there are many references such as the news articles and McConnell’s invitation to study at Abu Nour (one of a few American candidates selected for such an honor). An honor bestowed to someone already proven to be a leader in their field. So the article has merit and should be consolidated at best, not deleted. There are perhaps two people in America proficient in Hijama, not cupping a practiced by acupuncturists. So we have removed the opportunity of some 6 to 9 million Muslims (depending on who you believe) from benefiting from accessing hijama services or knowing someone who is expert in this field. I find that remarkably ignorant to say McConnell is not note worthy. I will copy this to the admin who opted to delete the article and see if we can get it reinstated. Thanks again, but no thanks  BeNothing (talk) 16:15, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, do please keep in mind that WP is an encyclopedia, and we do have to follow policy--the AFD is not a judgment of McConnell's qualities as a person, merely a reflection that he has not yet received the kind of attention in the media that WP requires to establish notability. There are, believe me, many subject that I would like to include myself that do not meet policy.
Something else to consider is that materials do not have to be online, if there are print newspaper or magazine articles about him, they can be used. Also, for what it's worth, I do not think we have removed the opportunity of some 6 to 9 million Muslims to learn about Hijama by deleting the article here, there are many many venues other than Wikipedia that are open for such information. But in any case, please contact me directly if I can be of help. --Nuujinn (talk) 14:46, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think the article is no more in wikipedia. What went wrong there? BTW, Where did u find me? Wasifwasif (talk) 11:40, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
