Welcome!

Hello, BillyJack193, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, like John Mellencamp's 21st studio album, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for page creation, and may soon be deleted.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! RadioFan2 (talk) 02:34, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

AfD nomination of John Mellencamp's 21st studio album[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

I have nominated John Mellencamp's 21st studio album, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/John Mellencamp's 21st studio album. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. RadioFan2 (talk) 02:34, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Your recent edits[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button Button sig.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. GA[edit]

I see that you passed "Open Your Heart" to good article, but you didn't gave any feedback to improve it, I see some problems with it, you have to be sure that the article meets all of the Wikipedia:Good article criteria. Also the "Jack and Diane" article is clearly not up to good article standars, I suggest you withdraw the nomination before it get a quick fail. Frcm1988 (talk) 19:17, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

I have reverted your passing of "Open Your Heart". Please familiarize with GA criterias as stated above, then you can review. I will be waiting for someone experienced to come through for reviewing. --Legolas (talk2me) 05:39, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Billyjack8.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Billyjack8.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 14:30, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Please stop removing image maintenance tags without fixing the problem they indicate. You need to write a rationale for each use of this image. (ESkog)(Talk) 04:38, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:The Delinquents.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:The Delinquents.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 14:50, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:The Delinquents.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:The Delinquents.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 04:39, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Re: Tom Laughlin[edit]

Yes, he certainly does belong in WP:WPBIOA&E. Even if he was elected President or cured cancer or became a pro-golfer, he'd still belong there as he's an accomplished actor. You have improved the article a bit, but you'll have to wait for a more comprehensive review when somebody picks it up at WP:GAN. I have re-added {{cleanup-link rot}}, though, because most of the citations aren't formatted at all and are just bare URLs. See WP:CITE#HOW for a guide to format the references. Hope that helps, —97198 (talk) 06:42, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

WP:Hornbook -- a new law-related task force for the J.D. curriculum[edit]

Hi BillyJack193,

I'm asking Wikipedians who are interested in United States legal articles to take a look at WP:Hornbook, the new "JD curriculum task force".

Our mission is to assimilate into Wikipedia all the insights of an American law school education, by reducing hornbooks to footnotes.

  • Over the course of a semester, each subpage will shift its focus to track the unfolding curriculum(s) for classes using that casebook around the country.
  • It will also feature an extensive, hyperlinked "index" or "outline" to that casebook, pointing to pages, headers, or {{anchors}} in Wikipedia (example).
  • Individual law schools can freely adapt our casebook outlines to the idiosyncratic curriculum devised by each individual professor.
  • I'm encouraging law students around the country to create local chapters of the club I'm starting at my own law school, "Student WP:Hornbook Editors". Using WP:Hornbook as our headquarters, we're hoping to create a study group so inclusive that nobody will dare not join.

What you can do now:

1. Add WP:Hornbook to your watchlist, {{User Hornbook}} to your userpage, and ~~~~ to Wikipedia:Hornbook/participants.
2. If you're a law student,
(You don't have to start the club, or even be involved in it; just help direct me to someone who might.)
3. Introduce yourself to me. Law editors on Wikipedia are a scarce commodity. Do knock on my talk page if there's an article you'd like help on.

Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission[edit]

See WP:EL, also note that it is part of a larger spamming campaign by an editor who has added that (and other democracy now) links across many many pages (apparently 87 places). Prodego talk 05:18, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

Sure - I'd be a bit concerns about if it truly represents the type of resource we want to link to, but in any case I don't mean to make a statement about if it should be included in any particular article. Prodego talk 18:03, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

John Cougar Mellencamp[edit]

It is not necessary to include him if you feel he doesn't properly belong. If you wish to include him with a notation, I would do it as:

John Cougar (former akas: Johnny Cougar and John Cougar Mellencamp) — John Mellencamp (abandoned aliases in 1989)
Actually I just checked and it was done some time ago by another editor (:John Cougar"Stage name Johnny Cougar given to him by his manager in 1975; changed to John Cougar in 1979. Mellencamp has not used this name since 1982 and has not used the name John Cougar Mellencamp since 1989.") Yours, Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 16:30, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Reviews in infoboxes[edit]

Hi! I see that you have reverted my removal of the professional reviews from the infobox of the On the Rural Route 7609 article. As there was no adequate explanation for your revert in the edit summary, I have removed the reviews again. Links to professional reviews are no longer allowed in album infoboxes, as per Wikipedia:ALBUM#Professional_reviews and Wikipedia:Albums#Reception. You can relocate professional reviews to a dedicated "Reception" section using the {{Album ratings}} template, but links to reviews should only be used to compliment prose in the "Reception" section, not be used as a substitute for it. Since the article has no dedicated "Release" or "Reception" section, the reviews should be deleted...unless someone wants to compose a few paragraphs describing the album's critical reception in detail, in which case, the reviews can then be retained using the aforementioned template. If you are a user that contributes regularly to John Mellencamp album articles, perhaps you might consider removing or relocating the professional reviews in other articles too? Consensus was reached in December 2009 to do away with reviews in the infoboxes of album articles - the relevant discussion can be found here. Many thanks. --Kohoutek1138 (talk) 14:55, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply. OK, well that's fair enough if you want to keep the reviews, especially if you plan to expand the relevant section in the not too distant future...just create a Reception section (or a section with a similar title) and relocate the reviews to it using the {{Album ratings}} template. You can also add the {{Arprose}} template to tag the section for later expansion, as has been done in the Back in Black article for example. The tag will also act as a reminder to you and may encourage other editors to expand the section too. --Kohoutek1138 (talk) 11:37, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm recruiting Wikipedians who are passionate about history & culture to participate in improving Wikipedia using the WDL's vast free online resources. Participants can earn our awesome WDL barnstar and help to disseminate free knowledge from over 100 libraries in 7 different languages. Please sign up to participate here. Thanks for editing Wikipedia and I look forward to working with you! SarahStierch (talk) 20:32, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
