Help Please :)[edit]

Can you please help get my favourite new band out of the draft stage and onto the official wikipedia? They are a new band from Dublin called Run in Red:

Can you please create a Wikipedia page for my favorite rapper out for him his called KID CONNEX plz Soccerezy08 (talk) 17:22, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I did a quick search and I didn't see enough information online that would support adding an article about KID CONNEX to Wikipedia. A musical artist needs to meet the notability criteria for musicians in order to have an article in Wikipedia. If he does meet that, you're welcome to create a draft article first, but I don't generally work in new article creation. Bonnie (talk) 18:02, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Bill Reinhardt[edit]

Hello. I appreciate your edits however your addition of "non-vocal instrumentalist" to the infobox is incorrect. Bill did sing in his band, as I state in the intro paragraph. I have all of his records and he sings on a number of tracks. There are also numerous references in the Chicago Tribune and Sun-Times to Bill singing at Jazz, Ltd. as well.

Maja Salvador[edit]

The Background field doesn't seem to be working, I don't see any difference whether the field is there or not. Strange.  Mr.choppers | ✎  08:50, 7 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It won't make a difference in the background when the musical artist infobox is embedded in the person infobox, but it's helpful to add the field anyways for tracking purposes. Bonnie (talk) 01:34, 8 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Issue with ref tags at Kitchen Cinq article[edit]

Hello Bonnie13J, it's been awhile. I hope that you've been doing great. I have a little problem. I'm having an issue with the ref tags in the new article I just wrote about the band The Kitchen Cinq. I've tried to correct the issue, but nothing seems to work. It looks fine in the edit print, and it was perfect in my sandbox, but ever since I submitted the article, there have been several ugly red error messages in the text. I don't know how to fix the apparent errors. Could you help me? Thanks, Garagepunk66 (talk) 07:16, 25 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I got it fixed. Sometimes my citation wizard does not work, so I have to type out the parameters out by hand. I noticed that I forgot to put an "=" sign in a couple of places. Thanks, Garagepunk66 (talk) 07:49, 25 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Garage rock taskforce[edit]

We now have a garage rock task force, Wikipedia:WikiProject Rock music/Garage rock taskforce. I was wondering if you could take a look at it and see if there are any corrections and/or improvements to be made there. Thanks, Garagepunk66 (talk) 01:47, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Corey J. aka Lil C-Note[edit]

Hi Bonnie, I saw you changed the name in Corey Jackson's infobox. I have changed it back and wanted to seek your advise. His artist name is Corey J. aka Lil C-Note, his real name is Corey Jackson. I have filed the page under his real name, and was wondering whether the page should be listed under Corey J. aka Lil-Cnote instead. This is his nom-de-plume and is the name he is most known as. I thought Corey Jackson would be easier but thought the proper artist name should headline the infobox. Please let me know what you think is best, as he is not really known as Corey Jackson as an artist. I look forward to your input. Thanks in advance, regards, (Subzzee (talk) 11:28, 25 April 2017 (UTC))[reply]

Hi! I'm fine with any of those, but the infobox title should only contain one name, and other names should go in the alias section of the infobox / birth name, and generally the infobox title should be consistent with the page name. I'm not familiar with the artist, so you can review the guidelines on stage names and make the right call. There is another artist (Carlon Jeffery) that goes by Lil' C-Note, so that's probably not the best choice for the article title. That's my input, anyway! Thanks for asking. Just a heads up a user has been reverting some your recent edits without explanation. I'm not sure why but I thought I'd let you know so you can un-revert them. TripleRoryFan (talk) 02:30, 19 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I just noticed that, and saw they were reverting some of your edits without explanation, too. I'll leave a message on their talk page as well. Bonnie (talk) 02:32, 19 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Potential folk/traditional song infobox[edit]

Hi! Thanks for doing so much work on adding song infoboxes! I've been tinkering around developing an infobox specifically for folk songs, which would incorporate basic identifying info for traditional music, like tradition/country of origin, Roud/Child/Law index numbers, variants, etc. but isn't accounted for by the pre-existing song/musical composition infoboxes. I tried to see if that had been attempted before, or whether anyone had come up with a decision about it, but couldn't really find anything. Do you know anything about it? I've seen people talking about how it's hard to fit a folk song into the normal infoboxes, but nothing about creating a new infobox for them. I also noticed a lot of the songs without infoboxes are traditional songs, so I thought it would be helpful. Do you have any pointers or info, or know where I could find any? --ElfLady64 (talk) 23:33, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I agree that folk songs and other such songs don't fit great into the existing song template. The best input I can give you is that there used to be an infobox for standards that ended up being merged with the song infobox, so I would just make sure that if/when you propose something, you take into account whatever discussions took place prior to that merge. Also, there's an infobox for musical compositions, that as I'm looking at it now, might be a better fit for traditional and folk songs and I may start using it instead. Good luck! Bonnie (talk) 23:05, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oh great, thank you, I will look into that merge! I have used infobox for musical compositions for traditional songs (as well as some pop standards) as it does allow for a bit more detail that makes sense for those songs. Thanks for your help! ElfLady64 (talk) 23:24, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Help Bonnie :) please, can you give this band a wiki page?[edit]

I'm not really sure what I'm doing. I'm trying to reach whoever was wondering if Arlin Godwin is the same person as Indio the Canadian musician.

They are NOT. I am Arlin Godwin. Paul Arlin Godwin to be precise and I have no connection with or to Indio or Gordon Peterson. I, Arlin Godwin, live and work in Washington, DC. I was born May 30, 1960 in Pensacola, Florida. I am an artist working in Design for broadcast television, short films and a great deal of musical work...particularly pop, electronica and synthpop etc.

I would be happy to answer any questions or provide further detail. But I mostly wanted to clear up any questions about me being the same person as Indio or Gordon Peterson. I have no idea how that connection got started on Wikipedia. It is false. Incorrect. It would be great if when folks search on "Arlin Godwin' could stop being redirected to someone I have no connection to.

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks![edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

DYK nomination[edit]

Hello Bonnie, please look here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Did_you_know_nominations/Annelien_Van_Wauwe We need a review for the ALT1 hook. Would you please do that? Thank you!Gisel (talk) 07:31, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gisel, I'm not familiar with that process and what's required for a Did you know nomination, so I don't feel I'd be able to appropriately review it. Hopefully, you can find another editor who's more familiar with the criteria! Bonnie (talk) 16:00, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Shaun Martin[edit]

I hope very much that there is not a problem here. When User:Auric changed the "background" line in the info box to "non_vocal_instrumentalist", I reverted it with the Edit summary "reverted--he occasionally sings". Auric then changed it to "solo_singer", which is certainly not what I wrote. I reverted it and left him a message on his talk page that, "He sometimes does backup vocals, but he is not a solo singer. He is primarily a keyboards player (piano, organ, synthesizers, clavinet), although he has recorded on bass, guitar, and other instruments. Why don't you please just let it stand the way I wrote it?" So, I left, returned a couple hours later to discover that you had changed it back to, "non_vocal_instrumentalist". I reverted your edit and entered " jazz, gospel, R&B keyboardist & multiinstrumentalist". I have no desire to get into an edit war, but if there is a series of stock entries for this line, those used so far are insufficient. GWFrog (talk) 03:50, 29 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, those are the stock entries for that field and those are the only entries to be used for that field. The background field is there only for a large-scale categorization of the infoboxes and setting the display color; the other information you are trying to add is not appropriate for that field and should be included in the occupation field instead. Please reference the template guidelines for what type of information should be included for each field. Bonnie (talk) 16:40, 7 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
