RE: Erika Steinbach[edit]

thank you, I was naturally suspicious as I would not think someone ranking as low as a feldwebel would obtain their own government issued house. I have always said that if something too easily fits into an agenda (not meaning you have one, but others may), you should question it and seek other sources. another thing that set me off about the statement was that Erika and her mother remained in Rumia/Rahmel even after her father was sent to the Eastern Front, if the house was government issue surely they would have moved them elsewhere, probably into a smaller house or closer to home.

Re: Campaign Against Homophobia - I didn't mean to change that one: I did Google it and found no reference with the ó. I do apologise for not checking what I was editing properly but offer my thanks in that you checked and corrected it, told me why it was wrong and assumed good faith! Hi, Boyau, welcome to WikiProject LGBT Studies!

We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying, categorizing, and improving articles of interest to the LGBT community. A couple of points that may be helpful:

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me or any other experience editor, and we will be happy to help you.

And once again - Welcome!

Can I ask for your translation skills please[edit]

Hi Boyau, I have been having troubles with a Polish editor, who is now insulting and personally attacking me. He has now personally attacked me here in Polish, I used an online translator and it came up with "limited essence soya bean case" as what he called me. I was wondering what exactly he says, and the overall context of what he has been saying.

thanks --Jadger 11:09, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

lol, thank you. I had no clue whether or not "limited essence soya bean case" was supposed to be an insult, perhaps he just doesn't like them. perhaps I am mistaken, but couldn't istota then be translated as untermensch? just thought that would be mighty hypocritical of him as he has called me a Nazi, now I'm less than human.
--Jadger 18:37, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

alright, thank you. So he basically said I am an "annoying, mentally challenged sub-human/less than human creature"

--Jadger 23:23, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

thanks a lot for all your help

Jaroslaw Kaczynski[edit]

Boyau, can you come and give your input on the discussion at Jaroslaw Kaczynski? We don't know whether to tag him as an LGBT person from Poland because all the evidence that he is or is not gay is in Polish! Thanks, Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 16:42, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

OK, well, I guess I'll leave it to you then, as I think my inability to speak Polish renders my input fairly useless. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 12:57, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

The LGBT studies WikiProject Newsletter!
Issue III - February 1, 2007

Announcement: If someone requests help or feedback on an article, please try your hardest to help them out if you are able. Thank you.

Project News
  • The LGBT Portal has once again been revamped and a work rota started. Efforts towards Featured Portal status are slowly coming together.
  • The assessment system has been a great success, we have tagged over 4000 articles! Please tag any LGBT related articles you come across by adding {{LGBTProject | class=}} to the talkpage. Please see the Assessment Department for how to assess an article according to the grading system.
  • The Translation department has changed its focus, to LGBT articles about non-English topics and people on which there may be more information on the relevant foreign Wikipedia. Please add your name if you are fluent in any language other than English.
  • Jumpaclass is picking up slowly, with nine people having entered. With over 2000 stubs we need to improve our article quality. Please sign up and get it going! Challenge another user to see how far you can jump a stub!
  • There is an ongoing discussion about the current LGBT categorisation system here, here, and a little bit here. A special page has now been set up here to deal with this.
  • A Watchlist has been set up to monitor controversial and/or highly vandalised articles. It can also be used for article disputes, just add a note explaining the nature of the dispute.
  • With the influx of so many active members, there is now enough support for a LGBT studies peer review, which may be found here. It's in the beta phase at the moment, so bear with us if we make any mistakes. Feel free to peer review any articles you have been working on.
  • It was agreed this month to start reducing the uses of the Notice board, as many members felt that it was not effective. An open tasks template has been created, bringing together important announcements, FAC/FARs, Peer reviews, XfDs, the COTM, and requested articles. You may desire to watchlist it. A Deletion sorting subpage is also now working to bring together XfDs - this should be bot-driven, but we have not currently tagged enough articles to make this fully automated, so please update the list with any LGBT-related XfDs you come across.

Polish[edit]

Hiya. I've been seeing how active the other language LGBT WikiProjects, and I've been noticing that a lot of the users I have spoken to in these semi-active projects complain of an uphill struggle against homophobic editors, who make it very difficult to get anywhere. I was wondering what the situation is like on the Polish Wikipedia (though I can imagine). Is there any censorship, or any form of WikiProject (or just some people who work together)? Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 23:53, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Thankyou very much for your reply. After consultation with people from various wikipedias, I have decided to set up a Project on Meta to end Wikipedia-wide discrimination against LGBT people and issues. I would be very grateful if you would be willing to act as the go-between between us and the Polish wiki.
On a more personal note, the problems you produced might be solved if you set up a WikiProject, got an assessment system going and then added the results to a Watchlist. That way even if articles are nominated for deletion, you will know about it. Also, I note with interest that articles that are well-referenced are left alone - this is probably something that I think all LGBT WikiProjects need to aim for, as I've noticed that here too. However, setting up all of this is somewhat time-consuming, are you interested in doing it? Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 12:35, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the extra information you added about the Polish version of this format. I have, however, deleted 'Romania' from the list of countries that BBC Worldwide has licensed the format to. There is no Romanian version. It's possible that a similar show may have been aired there but certainly not this format. RMM77

Possibly unfree File:Kampania Przeciw Homofobii Ad sesssion.jpg[edit]

An image that you uploaded or altered, File:Kampania Przeciw Homofobii Ad sesssion.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the image description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Kelly hi! 20:18, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Kampania Przeciw Homofobii image deletion[edit]

Hi, I was away from wikipedia for several months. Now I noticed a picture I uploaded to the article Kampania Przeciw Homofobii was deleted by you in Januray - as it was suspected to be unfree. I am a member of the organisation, of which this article talks about. We own this imege, it was shot on our photo-session, and we have rights to use it in any way we see fit. Could you advise me in which category should I put the photo, so it doesn't et deleted again? Thank you. Boyau (talk) 17:05, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Rather than immediately jumping to the "some other reason" option, please try to choose the correct and relevant option next time, as it tends to help resolve your issue faster.
File:Kampania Przeciw Homofobii Ad sesssion.jpg was deleted because there was no proof that the copyright owner, Rarapi Agency/Kampania Przeciw Homofobii, chose to release this image. To verify this, the copyright holder or its agent should send the email indicated at WP:CONSENT to permissions-en@wikimedia.org quoting the specific file name. If this is verified, the image may be undeleted. Stifle (talk) 15:48, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

WikiProject Poland Newsletter • April 2011
For our freedom and yours

Welcome to our first issue of WikiProject Poland newsletter, the Monitor (named after the first Polish newspaper).

Our Project has been operational since 1 June, 2005, and also serves as the Poland-related Wikipedia notice board. I highly recommend watchlisting the Wikipedia:WikiProject Poland page, so you can be aware of the ongoing discussions. We hope you will join us in them, if you haven't done so already! Unlike many other WikiProjects, we are quite active; in this year alone about 40 threads have been started on our discussion page, and we do a pretty good job at answering all issues raised.

In addition to a lively encyclopedic, Poland-related, English-language discussion forum, we have numerous useful tools that can be of use to you - and that you could help us maintain and develop:

This is not all; on our page you can find a list of useful templates (including userboxes), awards and other tools!

With all that said, how about you join our discussions at WT:POLAND? Surely, there must be something you could help others with, or perhaps you are in need of assistance yourself?

WikiProject Poland Newsletter • January 2014 • Issue II[edit]

WikiProject Poland Newsletter • January 2014 • Issue II
For our freedom and yours

Welcome to the second issue of WikiProject Poland newsletter, the Monitor (named after the first Polish newspaper).

Unlike many other WikiProjects, we are quite active; we get close to a hundred discussion threads each year and we do a pretty good job at answering all issues raised. Last year we were featured in the Signpost, and our interviewer was amazed at our activity. In the end, however, even as active as we are, we are just a tiny group - you can easily become one of our core members!

In addition to a lively encyclopedic, Poland-related, English-language discussion forum, we have numerous useful tools that can be of use to you - and that you could help us maintain and develop:

  • we have an active assessment department. As of now, our project has tagged almost 83,000 pages as Poland-related - that's an improvement of over 3,000 new pages since the last newsletter. Out of which 30 still need a quality assessment, and 2,000, importance assessment. We have done a lot to clear the backlog here (3 years ago those numbers were 1,500 and 20,000, respectively). Can you help assess a few pages?
    • assessing articles is as easy as filling in the class= and importance= parameters on the talk page in the {{WPPOLAND|class=|importance=}} template. See here for a how-to guide.
  • once an article has an assessment template, it will appear in our article alerts and news feed, which provides information on which Poland-related articles are considered for deletion, move, or are undergoing a Good or Featured review. Watchlisting that feed, in addition to watchlisting our project's main page, is a good way to make sure you stay up to date on most Poland-related discussions.
  • you can also see detailed deletion discussions at Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Poland (which is a good place to watchlist if you just want to stay up to date on possible deletions of Poland-related content)
  • we have also begun B-class quality reviews on our talk page, and if our activity increases, hopefully we will be able to institute our own A-class quality reviews. As of now, we have about 500 C-class articles in need of a B-class review. If you'd like to help with them, instructions for doing B-class reviews are to be found in point 10 of our assessment FAQ. In addition to this automated list, you are also encouraged to help review articles from our B-class reviews requested list found here.
  • also, those articles will be included in our cleanup listing, which allows us to see which top-importance articles are in need for attention, and so on. We have tens of thousands articles in need of cleanup there, so if you ever need something to do, just look at this gigantic list. (I am currently reviewing the articles tagged with notability, either proving them notable or nominating for deletion; there are still several dozens left if you want to help!).
  • did you know that newly created Poland-related articles are listed here. They need to be reviewed, often cleaned-up, occasionally nominated for deletion, and their creators may need to be welcomed and invited to our project if they show promise as new authors of Poland-related content.
  • we are maintaining a Portal:Poland
  • automated Wikipedia:WikiProject Poland/Popular pages lists the most popular Poland-related pages from the previous month(s)
  • Breaking news: we are looking for a Wikipedian in Residence for the New York City area. See Wikipedia:GLAM/Józef Piłsudski Institute of America for details.

This is not all; on our page you can find a list of useful templates (including userboxes), awards and other tools!

With all that said, how about you join our discussions at WT:POLAND? Surely, there must be something you could help others with, or perhaps you are in need of assistance yourself?

It took me three years to finish this issue. Feel free to help out getting the next one before 2017 by being more active in WikiProject management :)
