The image you constructed based on mine and the image on the Economist page here [1] indicates that Camp Leatherneck is a good 150+ miles south of where it should be; IE next door to Camp Bastion! Richard Harvey (talk) 11:54, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

STS-128 photo[edit]

How long was the exposure on your STS-128 photograph? (I took one from 180 miles north, exposed for 143 seconds.) Bubba73 (talk), 18:38, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

I wish I had taken the photo, but my photography skills are no where near that good! The image was released into the public domain by NASA, as the license says on the image page. I don't believe the NASA website says how long the exposure time was. Bsimmons666 (talk) 18:52, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

I Was Wondering[edit]

I was wondering how:

  1. Wikipedia knew you worked substantially on an article
  2. Wikipedia put that little green plus in the top right corner of your screen
  3. I could get those things for the articles I created (when they make GA)

please respond on my talk page. Thanks Nezzadar (talk) 23:18, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

Can You Fix the Image You Put Up?[edit]

Hi. You loaded an image, or at least thought you did for the article at Joint Legislative Committee to Investigate Seditious Activities, however, it didn't fully load. I do not know how to load images, so I don't know what it is missing, otherwise I would fix it... Regards, Steve... Stevenmitchell (talk) 12:31, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

edit summary[edit]

I am concerned about this edit summary; would you please explain? SandyGeorgia (Talk) 00:04, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

...It's an internet meme that's an expression of frustration. See the Encyclopedia Dramatica article on "RAGE" (hopefully not spamfiltered; tinyurl; oops) entry if you wish; I can't find one on Urban Dictionary. I, on the other hand, am concerned that the Overman Committee article is not being given a fair review at FAC. Bsimmons666 (talk) 00:33, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

Overman[edit]

No hurry, and my apologies if my comments came off as harsh (and my compliments to you for graciously accepting criticism). There's obviously a lot to like about the article, but I think the prose and context issues are major barriers right now. I'll do whatever I can to help overcome them, though. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. When you make a change to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Iran and weapons of mass destruction. Doing so helps everyone to understand the intention of your edit. It is also useful when reading the edit history of the page.

The purpose of a Wikipedia talk page is to provide space for editors to discuss changes to its associated article or project page. Article talk pages should not be used by editors as platforms for their personal views on a subject. You may discuss changes you would like to see to the article here.

Community de-Adminship - finalization poll for the CDA proposal[edit]

After tolling up the votes in the revision proposals, it emerged that 5.4 had the most support, but elements of that support remained unclear, and various comments throughout the polls needed consideration.

A finalisation poll (intended, if possible, to be one last poll before finalising the CDA proposal) has been run to;

  • gather opinion on the 'consensus margin' (what percentages, if any, have the most support) and
  • ascertain whether there is support for a 'two-phase' poll at the eventual RfC (not far off now), where CDA will finally be put to the community. Matt Lewis (talk) 01:03, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

Huckleberry Finn -- Racism charge in Themes[edit]

Hi Bsimmons666. Just wanted to let you know I've opened up the topic of the replication and placement of the Huckleberry Finn criticism for discussion on its talk page. I think the article has some past history of contention and edit warring about just how much weight and repetition that particular charge should carry in the article, so it's probably something the article's regular maintainers should have a chance to weigh in on. Best regards, P.T.isfirst (talk) 06:34, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

Final discussion for Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Biographies of living people[edit]

Hello, I note that you have commented on the first phase of Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Biographies of living people

As this RFC closes, there are two proposals being considered:

  1. Proposal to Close This RfC
  2. Alternate proposal to close this RFC: we don't need a whole new layer of bureaucracy

Your opinion on this is welcome. Okip 02:09, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Statement Relating to Defence[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Statement Relating to Defence has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not notable. Not developed since creation.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Maidonian (talk) 01:39, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer[edit]

Redaktor Wikipedia 600px.png

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Karanacs (talk) 17:09, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Invitation to participate![edit]

Hello! As you may be aware, the Wikimedia Foundation is gearing up for our annual fundraiser. We want to hit our goal, and hit it as soon as possible, so that we can focus on Wikipedia's tenth anniversary (January 15) and on our new project, the Contribution Team.

I'm posting across User Talk pages to engage you, the community, in working to build Wikipedia not only through financial donations, but also through collaboration in building content. You can find more information in Philippe Beaudette's memo to the communities here.

Please visit the Contribution Team page and the Fundraising page to find out how you can help us support and spread free knowledge. DanRosenthal Wikipedia Contribution Team 18:45, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

WikiProject Space Colonization activity[edit]

Hello there! As part of an experiment to determine how many active editors are present in the spaceflight-related WikiProjects, some changes have been made to the list of members of WikiProject Space Colonization. If you still consider yourself to be an active editor in this project, we would be grateful if you would please edit the list so that your name is not struck out - thus a clearer idea of the critical mass of editors can be determined. Many thanks in advance.

Interview with Wikimedia Foundation[edit]

Hi Bsimmons666, I hope you're well. My name is Aaron and I'm one of the Storytellers working on the 2011 fundraiser for the Wikimedia Foundation. For this year's campaign, we're interviewing as many of the very active and productive Wikipedians as we can to broaden the range of appeals we run come November. I wonder if you would want to tell me more about your experiences editing and writing here? If so, I'll ask you your personal story and I'll ask you some general questions about Wikipedia. Please let me know if you're interesting by emailing amuszalski@wikimedia.org. Thanks! user:Aaron (WMF)

WP:FOUR RFC[edit]

There are two WP:RFCs at WP:FOUR. The first is to conflate issues so as to keep people from expressing meaningful opinions. The second, by me, is claimed to be less than neutral by proponents of the first. Please look at the second one, which I think is much better.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 06:18, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
