Creating categories[edit]

Hi, when you create a category, please don't put it inside itself, as you did with Category:Reformed churches in Michigan and Category:Reformed State churches in Switzerland. Instead, select suitable parents so that the category takes its proper place in the category tree; more at Wikipedia:Categorization#Creating category pages. Accordingly, I have fixed them, like this and this. Those may not be the most suitable parents: they were my best guesses. --Redrose64 (talk) 14:12, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

Names of organizations[edit]

Hi Calvingabor,

As the article was on some non-existing user's page, I moved it back to article namespace. I placed it at Evangelisch-Reformierte Kirche des Kantons Luzern as I couldn't find a source with the English name of the organization.

Anyways, good idea to create these articles. -- 签名 sig at 05:35, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

Adding ambiguous links[edit]

Hello, Calvingabor. I came by to let you know that most names of languages as well nationalities and peoples are ambiguous, so links such as 'French' and 'German' are usually disambiguation pages. I see that you have already received several automatic notifications from DPL bot about links to other disambiguation pages. You can check that links actually go to the articles you have in mind by clicking 'Show preview' and then checking the links before you save the page. This might save you the step of repairing ambiguous links after DPL bot spots them. Happy editing, Cnilep (talk) 04:52, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

Your edits[edit]

Hello. I just looked at the last two articles you edited, and I'd like you to please explain them, as you didn't leave an edit summary.

On the Birmingham, Alabama article, you added data about church attendance in this edit, using this source. I have added the correct data, according to your source, in parentheses.

  • Southern Baptist Convention - 336,000 members (335,938).
  • United Methodists - 66,759 members (correct).
  • Presbyterian Church in America - almost 15,000 members (13,908).
  • National Baptist Convention - 69,800 members (69,827).

And, you completed excluded 3 other churches which have more members than the Presbyterian Church in America, which you listed.

Today, on the Augusta, Georgia article, you added data about church attendance in this edit, using this source. Again, correct data, according to your source, is in parentheses:

  • Southern Baptist Convention has 114,351 (correct)
  • United Methodist has 30,000 members (30,722)
  • National Baptist Convention has 27,000 (26,671)
  • Presbyterian church has 4,500 members (4,396)
  • Catholic Church has 31,000 members (31,687)

And you completely excluded the Episcopal Church which has 5,622 members, and is larger than the Presbyterian church (which you again listed).

First, why are you intentionally adding misleading data to these articles? Second, why are you intentionally creating lists that exclude certain religions which should be included?

Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 16:23, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Samuel Lapsley[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Samuel Lapsley requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.pslpcusa.org/AboutUs/TheSheppardsandLapsley.aspx. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Stop icon Your addition to First Presbyterian Church (Uniontown, Alabama) has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. It's obvious to me that you're copying-and-pasting information from web sites you're finding online. You have to stop. This is very serious, and if you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing. First Presbyterian Church (Uniontown, Alabama)[edit]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of First Presbyterian Church (Uniontown, Alabama), and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.ruralswalabama.org/attractions/first-presbyterian-church-at-uniontown-al-built-1914-listed-on-the-nrhp/.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. Speedy deletion nomination of Knox Presbyterian Church (Harrison Township, Michigan)[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Knox Presbyterian Church (Harrison Township, Michigan), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Sockpuppet investigation[edit]

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Cryx88, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Speedy deletion nomination of Covenanting Association of Reformed and Presbyterian Churches[edit]

Hello Calvingabor,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Covenanting Association of Reformed and Presbyterian Churches for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Tina Gasturich (talk) 21:30, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
