Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Aardman logo.svg[edit]

Copyright-problem.svg

Thank you for uploading File:Aardman logo.svg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. –– Jezhotwells (talk) 08:54, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

I nominated this as the file that you have uploaded is an svg file and thus not low resolution which is required for non-free use. The png in previous use on the article was low res and I have re-instated it. –– Jezhotwells (talk) 16:36, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

List of Disney theatrical animated features[edit]

FYI, regarding this revert of yours, I noted these issues at User talk:TheRealFennShysa#List of Disney theatrical animated features, without any response from that user. --Mepolypse (talk) 13:01, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

The conversation has been moved to Talk:List of Disney theatrical animated features#The revert war if you're interested. --Mepolypse (talk) 13:53, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for noting me about this conversation. It looks like that you and admin will resolve all the issues. Except for date format. I think that dates in ISO would help in readability and aesthetics of the article, but it seems like that this is not admin's main interest :) Carniolus (talk) 15:17, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
Yes, all seems to have been resolved now. Not that I think it should be relevant, but I don't think User:Robsinden is an admin. The icons at the top of their user page are for reviewer and rollback rights. As for the date format, I personally prefer ISO dates (it's what I use outside of Wikipedia, and what I had as a Wikipedia setting before the date unlinking led to the removal of the ability to customize date formats). That said, I can certainly imagine that users who are unaccustomed to the ISO format may find it confusing, the same way I may find "XX/YY/ZZ" date formats confusing. "XX Month YYYY" formats with written-out month names have the advantage that they should not confusing to anyone. While I don't know for sure, I can imagine that the reason WP:MOSDATE#Dates allows for ISO dates is that in some tables the amount of horizontal space is severely confined. In such cases a compact format may be needed, and the ISO format may be the best of the compact formats from a global perspective. On this article, while the dates are indeed in a table, the table columns are not width-confined. Looking at WP:MOSDATE now, I note that it specifically notes that edit warring over date formats is discouraged (in the second paragraph). As such, I think it is best to leave the date format as it is now. --Mepolypse (talk) 17:13, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I agree that ISO dates are confusing to some people, especially to non-technical kind. And to those who try to follow the rules in English prose. I see English wiki as international/referential site, and believe that more international rules should be followed.
I've changed dates to ISO on some other animation pages, where they also got some negative welcome. To avoid further wars I will eventually change them back to the old system.
Regarding compactness of ISO format, I think that compact dates should be welcomed in every table, because tables don't scale well and every overflown text just breaks the table. That is especially problem on low resolution screens and phones. Carniolus (talk) 18:15, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

The "Day & Night" picture.[edit]

It was brought to my attention that you uploaded File:Day & Night poster.jpg, a picture for use on the article Day & Night (2010 film). I already had a picture for that article: File:Day & Night title card.jpg Why did you upload a completely different file instead of uploading a new version of File:Day & Night title card.jpg? Did you do it because you wanted the filename to read "poster" and not "title card"? I bring this up because it sort of bothers me whenever a picture I've uploaded is slated for deletion, even if it is for a good reason. Please respond. -dogman15 (talk) 06:03, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

I uploaded it under the "poster" name because that is its accurate name, but mainly to make it easier to find on wiki/external search engines and for re-use on other language wikis. --Carniolus (talk) 06:46, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

Films still untitled??[edit]

The link http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/08/20/pixar-announces-two-new-films_n_932198.html?ir=Entertainment reveals the titles Dinosaurs and Inside the Brain for Pixar's 15th and 16th films. You are saying, however, that they are still untitled. What did I interpret wrong when I read the link?? Georgia guy (talk) 20:51, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

Yup. It says: "...revealing only the names of those in charge of their production and basic log lines for each". Those are just made up names for quick film description. Even tweets on the official Pixar's account haven't revealed any titles yet. --Carniolus (talk) 20:58, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

Hey I noticed you removed the Misha B casting speculation because it didn't have a source. If this is confirmed, let's go ahead and add it back in. Currently it's just speculation, so there's no need for it. Thanks. --TravisBernard (talk) 17:18, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

Hey. Yeah, I removed her because she didn't have a source, and I didn't bother to check it myself. Now, I've looked her up, and it seems that it is confirmed that she has been offered a role and a song. Hi. When you recently edited List of animated feature films: 2007, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Chris Miller and Sean McNamara (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Maters Tall Tales Voicing[edit]

How come on Owen Wilson's Wikipedia page it say he was doing Season 3-? --173.73.61.241 (talk) 16:31, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Then it must be wrong, because the credits says it was Ferguson. You can check it up yourself with this video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzC3Wm2MSTM, at 5:11.--Carniolus (talk) 16:39, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
OK, now I've actually checked Owen's wiki and it says he is voicing Season 3, except "Air Mater". Well, I haven't seen any source yet that would confirm this claim. --Carniolus (talk) 16:50, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Your recent editing history at List of Pixar films shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. Lihaas (talk) 19:02, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

The rumor said "Disney's Tarzan is coming back to theaters in 2014 in 3D!" Take a look at the rumor!!![edit]

Stephen Parry in disneyvault.net said "I stumbled across this poster while browsing the net, which to me seems like a very legit Disney poster for a possible re-release of the 1999 Walt Disney Feature Animation Tarzan. It follows along a very similar style and design for Pixar’s Finding Nemo 3D and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast 3D.

With no official confirmation from Walt Disney Pictures or any details anywhere! I can only say that don’t get your hopes up too high until we hear from Disney. So far Disney have announced their 3D re-release schedule for 2012/2013, so the earliest that we could see Tarzan 3D would be 2nd or 3rd week of January 2014." That's what he said and it's not a lie!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.208.204.83 (talk) 13:37, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

Rumours are not reported on Wikipedia. Only verifiable facts. On Disney Vault (http://disneyvault.net/rumour-is-disney-re-releasing-tarzan-in-3d/) it is written: "Check out the official or very well done fan poster below", which does not confirm if the poster is real. It is also written: "so the earliest that we could see Tarzan 3D would be 2nd or 3rd week of January 2014", which is also a guessing and does not confirm release year. --Carniolus (talk) 13:52, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

I ALREADY LOOKED!!!! It's not a lie and IT WILL COME OUT!!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.3.178.57 (talk) 11:46, 23 September 2012 (UTC)

You mean it was all a lie!?! I don't think so. it's true!! Disney told ME AND MY FAMILY!! Tarzan will come back out in 3D in 2014!

Fine. Then, please provide a reliable source.--Carniolus (talk) 12:09, 23 September 2012 (UTC)

Your contributed article, Dragons: Riders of Berk (season 1)[edit]

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Dragons: Riders of Berk (season 1). First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - List of Dragons: Riders of Berk episodes. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at List of Dragons: Riders of Berk episodes - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Rorshacma (talk) 18:07, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Toy Story (franchise) RT scores.[edit]

Hi there, always happy to see your contributions. I'm unsure why my RT scores update was reverted. I followed the links/references in the article and got the numbers found in my edit. RT has fewer top critics now then when the films were released and TS2 has more reviews. Cowlibob (talk) 17:49, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi. I don't know why, but most of your counts of top critics are way different than what I can see on RT. For example http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/toy_story_2/. I can see that TS2 has 37 Top Critics reviews. Your number was 17 reviews. Here is screenshot taken from that site: http://i46.tinypic.com/153790m.png. Also, the number of reviews on http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/toy_story_2/reviews/?type=top_critics is again 37. It is similar with other films (Ice Age..). Again, I can't say why is there such a difference. I only assume that it must be something with your settings on RT (if you are logged-in there).--Carniolus (talk) 19:14, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
That’s just strange. I cleared my cache etc., started a new browser session and followed your link for toy story 2 RT. This is what I see for all critics(161): http://minus.com/leR1Hg0CfIepJ and when I click on top critics(17): http://minus.com/lcyiu8FANzWUN. This is what I see at the bottom of the page: http://minus.com/lbunvc7zx5mZC9.
When I google Toy Story 2 rotten, I get this at the top of the page: http://minus.com/lcRmuZJthcCLa.
The nearest approximation I can see for your count is this archive from June 2011: http://web.archive.org/web/20110604203350/http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/toy_story_2/ .
All(148): http://minus.com/l2o6BB86S98yp Top(30): http://minus.com/lQi4PSmneSm9b.
I followed your link of the list of top critics for TS2 and I count 17 with LA times, Jan. 2000 being the earliest review and CNN, August, 2012 being the latest.
This is what I see for Ice Age 3 from this link: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/1194515-ice_age_dawn_of_the_dinosaurs/ . All critics(158): http://minus.com/lXFxXoPnqu39C and Top Critics(13): http://minus.com/lle9ini9RYlyk.
This is what I see at the bottom of the page: http://minus.com/lbnfcuSH5cdkYe .
The nearest approximation I can see for the numbers found in the Ice Age (franchise) is this archive from May 2011:
http://web.archive.org/web/20110511145430/http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/1194515-ice_age_dawn_of_the_dinosaurs/
All(153): http://minus.com/lGyTx7F5OBY6q Top(33): http://minus.com/lz7zg60W1avX9.
For Ice Age 3, I see 13 top critics on this link: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/1194515-ice_age_dawn_of_the_dinosaurs/reviews/?type=top_critics . With Variety, June 22, 2009 being earliest and the latest being Time Out, July, 2009.
As far as I can tell RT has only cut the number of top critics in the last year or so. Sorry for the long reply, just wanted to make sure you had as much info as possible.
Cowlibob (talk) 13:38, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
Hi. First, thanks for your proofs and effort you invested into solving this problem. I think I know what causes the differences. Wiki says this about the Top Critics (Wikipedia:Review_aggregators#Limitations):
"The section's overall score may also differ depending from where in the world Rotten Tomatoes is accessed. This is because a query may redirect a reader to a local English language site (such as uk.rottentomatoes.com in the United Kingdom and au.rottentomatoes.com in Australia) and the Rotten Tomatoes staff is given some subjective control in selecting "Top Critics", allowing for different make-up on different local sites."
I've visited the Ice Age 3 RT site with UK proxy, which masks me as if I was coming from the UK, and I also got 13 Top Critics: http://anon-proxy.co.uk/index.php. I'm guessing that this is what you are seeing.
To see the US/'other parts of the world' version, you can check RT with http://www.proxyus.org/. The US version has 33 Top Critics.
I don't know which version is better as this is the English wiki and not the US or the UK wiki, but I believe that the US ratings of Top Critics are little more accurate than the UK, as the US version has more reviews. Even wiki in the above link says: "The "Top Critics" section on Rotten Tomatoes is a smaller sample size and may be statistically inaccurate." Since I have't seen any guidelines for RT, I suggest that we use the US version. I know that it would make troubles for some editors, but it would mean less corrections as there are more US/other visitors.
--Carniolus (talk) 14:58, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
Oh, I see. Thanks for looking into this. I'll try to fix any RT scores changes I may have made so that they are in line with US.Cowlibob (talk) 19:57, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Hoodwinked_(soundtrack)[edit]

I finally had a chance to look up the reason for the orphaned image alerts, and have noticed that you originally relocated the information on the above page to the movie article. The reason you gave was that it wasn't extensive enough for its own article.

Articles are not kept or moved based on extensiveness. They are based on notability. Additional information exists at the movie article that makes the album in itself notable (after all, how many soundtracks get pulled from the market for four years over legal issues?), and thus, the album is notable enough to have its own article. It's actually rather sad that some of this information never existed in the main article, and I am thinking the ONLY reason it got merged in the first place was because Hoodwinked! became a Featured Article Candidate.

So I am challenging your merge as there was no discussion on it at all. The information that is at Hoodwinked! could easily be moved to the soundtrack article.

Of note, the only reason I'm reacting to this now is because I got orphaned image alerts for an image I uploaded and added to the article back in 2009. CycloneGU (talk) 17:47, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Well, you have answered it yourself. At the moment of mine redirect, some information that can be found now in the film's article didn't existed in the main article or in the soundtrack article. (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hoodwinked_(soundtrack)&diff=487403669&oldid=479030961) In fact, it had two sentences, a list of tracks, and it was without any reference for almost four years. References make an article notable, and there were none. Also, WP:NALBUMS#Albums says: "Album articles with little more than a track listing may be more appropriately merged into the artist's main article or discography article, space permitting."
Now, the soundtrack section has a little more information and it has a few references. And an info about the legal dispute, which I don't think it was noted by any journalist or had any reaction on the internet. So, this dispute is not something that would make the soundtrack notable. And regarding "space permitting" guideline, current Hoodwinked article is so extensive that it can easily contain additional few lines.
Good example of an extensive soundtrack article is Up, and I don't believe that Hoodwinked's article can come close to something like this. Regarding your image, you can try to add it on the main article.--Carniolus (talk) 19:08, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
Yes, I did try to add it to the main article, only to have it reverted shortly thereafter because it was too similar to the promotional poster. I've review Up later on (I know that film actually), I am expecting a phone call. CycloneGU (talk) 20:02, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for August 21[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Jeffrey Katzenberg, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page The Walt Disney Studios (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 11:18, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

Disney vector logos[edit]

Hi, Carniolus.

I'm here to applaud your work on uploading vector images for recent Disney logos including Disneynature, DisneyToon Studios, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, Walt Disney Records, Hollywood Records, Walt Disney Pictures and Touchstone Pictures. Therefore, I'm here to ask you if you can upload a vector image of the Disney Music Group logo from the source you provided [1]. I would do it myself, but I'm not very technologically savvy when it comes to attaining images from PDF files, so I'm hoping you can do it just as you've done for some of the other logos.

Thank you! ~ Jedi94 (talk) 18:39, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you, too! Yeah, I've seen that logo, but I wasn't sure if it is OK since it differs from the current logo on the Disney website: http://waltdisneystudios.com/corp/unit/72. But I guess if it matches other logos like the ones on Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, Walt Disney Pictures, and Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, then it should not be too much wrong and misleading to add another similar one.
And, if you will see any kind of useful logo in pdf files, please tell me, and I'll upload it here.--Carniolus (talk) 19:24, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
Will do! Keep up the great work.~ Jedi94 (talk) 01:21, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
The article for Disney Publishing Worldwide is currently without a logo and I found one on Page 12 here: [2] ~ Jedi94 (talk) 01:41, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
Great! While the one you've found could not be successfully extracted due to non-supported gradient, I've found and uploaded the most recent version from 2012.--Carniolus (talk) 08:29, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Hotel Transylvania[edit]

Sony Pictures has teamed up with Hotel Transylvania Wiki. The head creators contacted the creator of the Wikia, and they are having merchandise give-aways, contests, and more. http://hoteltransylvania.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:JAlbor/Play_Hotel_Transylvania_Games_to_Win The creator of this blog is Wikia Staff.

Maybe it is true, but I cannot verify anything you said by looking at that wikia page. Wikia is by definition unreliable and cannot be a source by itself. Beside that, why is this team-up notable anyway? This kind of stuff must be going on all over the internet. Games are maybe notable, but they were originally posted on the official website.--Carniolus (talk) 16:16, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Dragons Riders of Berk logo.jpg.png[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:Dragons Riders of Berk logo.jpg.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Hello,

I am wondering why you changed the logo, removing the one I uploaded, resulting in a bot sending me an orphaned image warning message? Cullen328 Let's discuss it 04:41, 9 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Isn't it better now? I replaced the image with the svg file because it is a more efficient way to store image data. This is enouraged by Template:Should be SVG, and a good example can be seen here: File:VectorBitmapExample.svg.--Carniolus (talk) 12:24, 9 October 2012 (UTC)

Same or different??[edit]

Every source I've checked suggests that the untitled fall 2015 film and the Dia de los Muertos film are the same. Where is YOUR source that they're different?? Georgia guy (talk) 14:52, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

You said that your sources only "suggest" that they are the same, so you still don't have a confirmation.--Carniolus (talk) 14:55, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
Do you really think they are different?? Georgia guy (talk) 14:56, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
No, I also think they are the same, although there is a small chance that the untitled film is either Finding Nemo 2, some other unknown project, or maybe Pete Docter's film moved to a new date. But, it does not matter what I or you think. Wikipedia must provide a reliable source that supports the claim and leaves no doubts open to anynone who has no a priori knowledge about the matter.--Carniolus (talk) 15:32, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
I have a big concern that people will think that they are definitely different. Being mentioned that they're different in a list of Pixar films suggests that they are definitely different. Georgia guy (talk) 13:47, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, I agree that it looks like that they are definitely different films, but this is a result of all available sources, which say that one is scheduled for November 25, 2015, and one for 2016. Even BOM, which is one of the most informed and accurate sites, has both films listed as different films: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/search/?q=pixar. I don't see any other way of presenting those two films that would not be based on unsupported assumptions, and I suggest that we wait for any additional news to clear this up. And happy New Year!--Carniolus (talk) 15:50, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
One additional thing has to be known, and that is that that page got its info directly from Pixar or a similar source and not via Wikipedia. Georgia guy (talk) 17:48, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
Another comment: as for the phrase "wait for additional news" I'm sure that the next piece of news that clears up this will most likely be that a non-Pixar Disney movie will take the fall of 2015. Georgia guy (talk) 17:51, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

[edit]

Hi, Carniolus. I've come to your talk page with a request. Since you've done such a terrific job at locating PDFs and uploading SVGs of countless Disney logos, I thought you could upload an SVG logo for The Muppets. I'm not technically orientated, so I don't know what's necessary to extract such image. I have already found a PDF here that has the current logo. For reference, I recently uploaded the same logo (as a JPEG), but ever since I found the logo on the PDF version, I'd thought that it should be uploaded as a more appropriate SVG instead.

If you can do me this favor, I'd be much obliged! Thank you, ~ Jedi94 (talk) 03:11, 1 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi! Sorry, but this logo is not stored in the vector format. If you zoom in you can see that it gets blurrier and blockier, which is not the case with vectors. In fact, this exact logo cannot be stored as a vector, because the letter "M" is too complicated to be described with geometrical shapes and gradients. I did a quick search and have found this pdf which does have a vector logo, but its colours and shadows are lost: http://iwatchmike.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/The-Muppets-Coloring-Sheets.pdf. The letter "M" can be coloured with approximate colours, but it won't be exactly the same as the official logo.... --Carniolus (talk) 10:19, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for your insight. I'm not sure what to do now: keep the JPEG of the fully colored logo with shadows OR replace it and upload a vector of the black-and-white logo, much like the logo for Pirates of the Caribbean. What do you think? ~ Jedi94 (talk) 18:51, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
I would go for the vector logo. I wouldn't mind that it is a little different, because that's the case with vector logos. For example, Kung Fu Panda (franchise), Toy Story (franchise) or Ice Age (franchise) - all logos differ from the ones on their most recent films. For logo, I think, it is important that it is official and that it serves as a good enough identification for what it represents. I've applied custom colours to the vector logo (until the official ones are found), and I think that it comes close enough to the current one: http://oi47.tinypic.com/m79rtj.jpg --Carniolus (talk) 21:10, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
That's a perfect design! I think we should immediately replace the current one that I uploaded with your colored vector one. ~ Jedi94 (talk) 22:55, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
OK. I will upload the vector one.--Carniolus (talk) 23:10, 1 December 2012 (UTC)

mistake in citation of Terry Pratchett tweet[edit]

In this change you added a citation to a Twitter message saying "Raising Steam is not Raising Taxes." The message really says "But it's definitely not Raising Taxes..." It doesn't mention Raising Steam explicitly. [3]rybec 07:51, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

Hm, yeah, I just restored someone else's references, but I didn't check them enough. I will correct the wrong citation. Thanks for correction! I've also seen the discussion on your talk page, whether "Raising Taxes" and "Raising Steam" are two different novels. Tweets on the Terry Pratchett's twitter clearly say that they are different, they only need to be read together and in order as they were posted:
"The very moment Terry was about to exclusively announce the title of the next full-length adult Discworld novel..."
"But it's definitely not Raising Taxes..."
"(FX Drum Roll) The next Discworld novel will be... RAISING STEAM."
It seems that the first quote is important to correctly understand the second one, so I will also add it in the article in order to avoid any confusion.--Carniolus (talk) 10:12, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
Thank you--wish I'd seen all three in order before! ;-) —rybec 10:32, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

Big Hero 6[edit]

Hello, Carniolus. Thanks for addressing the fact that the Big Hero Six film is actually titled Big Hero 6. Unfortunately, instead of moving the page to that correct name, you redirected it to a new one. I've addressed the issue here, and hopefully it'll be resolved soon. Until then, we'll have to leave the original page that was created as Big Hero 6 (film adaptation) and then rename it to Big Hero 6 (film) when all said is done. Rest assured, your important contribution will not go unnoticed. Thank you, ~ Jedi94 (talk) 20:05, 9 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi! I tried to move the original article to Big Hero 6 (film), but I was not allowed to do that because the page already existed. Actually, it was created in April 2013, so the only thing I could do, it was to copy/paste the content. I understand that you want to keep the history, so I agree with your efforts to move it together with the content. Anyway, I must thank you for creating this great written article!--Carniolus (talk) 20:26, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
There was another created before? Wow, I wasn't aware of that. Anyway, let's hope that the issue is resolved quickly and thanks for the compliment! ;) ~ Jedi94 (talk) 20:35, 9 May 2013 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Wreck-It Ralph score CD cover.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Wreck-It Ralph score CD cover.jpg.

Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 21:04, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

TemplateData is here[edit]

Hey Carniolus

I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).

So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.

What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.

The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 21:56, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

Hey[edit]

I made a fan-made CGI-animated movie called: "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker". The film would be released on April 15, 2016. It would be made by Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment. I wish the film was real. I made the poster for the movie. My edit on Illumination Entertainment has been reverted by yourself.

Here's the link for more info about the movie: http://fantendo.wikia.com/wiki/The_Legend_of_Zelda:_The_Wind_Waker_(film)

GeoGuyFan2000 (talk) 16:07, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Great that you are so enthusiastic about the Zelda film, but Wikipedia is not the place for fan-made films. With such additions you only damage the Wiki's trustfulness and other contributors' work.--Carniolus (talk) 16:20, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

Vandalism[edit]

Hey, I've noticed that you seem like a credible editor on animation articles such as Dreamworks Animation and Blue Sky Studios. Is there anything we can do about an IP user, 68.4.42.174, who has made vandalism edits and has been threatening to get editors blocked using caps. Is there anything we can do abut this - I'm not that experienced in dealing with editors like this. Frogkermit (talk) 23:22, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi! Hm, 68.4.42.174 has no particularly bad edits. He mostly adds unsourced information and insists that the Penguins series ended in 2012, which is kind of true. Maybe you think 68.83.88.141 and 2601:c:780:537:d32:9d3d:d6ad:99, who seem to be the same person. 68.83.88.141 has a month long history of vandalic edits, so a warning or two more, and he will be banned. You can nominate him anytime here: WP:AIV.--Carniolus (talk) 10:05, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
Yes, you're right, I did get the IP code wrong, the one you stated is right. Also, he seems to now have himself an account, PatrickMealeyFun, as this user makes the same threats and the exact same edits to the DreamWorks page. Frogkermit (talk) 18:48, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, if he continues with this kind of edits, he will be banned soon. But I am afraid that this won't stop him, as he accesses from at least 2 IP addresses. I think that a page protection would be more efficient action.--Carniolus (talk) 19:31, 21 August 2013 (UTC)

New Zealand RL[edit]

Hello there! Fine work extracting that SVG for the New Zealand Rugby League article! I'm here to ask you a small favour. The logo you extracted is the right article for that article, but the crest used by the New Zealand national rugby league team is subtly different. It uses the legend "New Zealand Kiwis" and can be found on page 15 of this media guide. I tried to put this in the "Should be SVG" template but it was clearly too small to be noticed. Thank you :) Malpass93! (what I've been up to/drop me a ___) 23:53, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:New Zealand national rugby league team logo.svg[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:New Zealand national rugby league team logo.svg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Franchise articles for Disney films[edit]

Hey :) I saw your amazing work in the articles for Dreamworks franchises so thought I'd share with you a proposition that crossed my mind today. I think Wikipedia should have franchise articles for its films. Lord knows pretty much every film has spawned sequels, video games, musicals, theme park rides, TV shows, and more. It should be fairly easy to collect the info and create the articles. You appear to be much more experienced that me, so I wanted to get your opinion on this. We already have The Lion King (franchise) and The Little Mermaid (franchise), so I would suggest starting off with Aladdin (franchise) and Beauty and the Beast (franchise) - those being 4 of Disney most popular/most successful films. The aforementioned 2 articles could also use a lot of work.

Thoughts?--Coin945 (talk) 20:55, 19 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi! By looking at Beauty and the Beast (1991 film) and Aladdin (1992 Disney film), I would say that there is enough material to make their own franchise articles. But, as I am not that familiar with older Disney's films, and I don't edit them, I suggest that you ask on their respective talk pages, and try to find a consensus or at least see if there are any objections.--Carniolus (talk) 09:53, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
"Older Disney films"? How old are you..? In 19 and I grew up with these films lol. My fave is the 1996 one Hunchback of Notre Dame. I can't think of anyone who wouldn't have watched the films. But I suppose if you're into Dreamworks you're prob around 5-10 years younger than I am, no? Man do I feel old haha--Coin945 (talk) 10:34, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
Well, most of these films are older than you are. ;) When I was growing up, (dubbed) animated films were not available, and now I am more interested in CG, including DreamWorks. "Hunchback" is one of the few I did see and it is indeed quite nice.--Carniolus (talk) 12:38, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
Ahh I see. Your native language is not English. Is that correct? Anyways Ive discussed this topic on various formats and there seems to be unanimous agreeance that Wikipedia should have article on them. So next step: someone having the calls to actually start creating articles on such iconic topics...--Coin945 (talk) 05:48, 21 October 2013 (UTC)
Yup, not fluent in English... If there are no objections, then you are free to start the articles. The way Disney is currently treating established properties, I bet there will be a lot of stuff to add in the future.--Carniolus (talk) 21:30, 21 October 2013 (UTC)

Dream Center[edit]

Dream Center does have to do with Oriental DreamWorks:

  • Bloomberg News: "Oriental DreamWorks, a Chinese venture by DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. (DWA), will invest more than 20 billion yuan ($3.1 billion) building an entertainment center in Shanghai to rival New York’s Broadway and London’s West End." "The Dream Center, which will include theaters, shops, restaurants and hotels, is scheduled to open in 2016, Oriental DreamWorks said in a statement today. The company also said it will co-produce “Kung Fu Panda 3” in China and plans to release the animated film in 2016."
  • Oriental DreamWorks Rewrites Its China Production Strategy: "Until now Oriental DreamWorks has been pegged essentially as a feature animation company with a physical production facility in Shanghai, where it also hopes to build a diverse cultural and entertainment district." ie. Dream Center
  • Hollywood Repoter: DreamWorks Animation to Co-Produce 'Kung Fu Panda 3,' Build Entertainment Complex in China: "Oriental DreamWorks, a Chinese joint venture formed by the companies, will also invest more than 20 billion yuan ($3.1 billion) to build an animation studio and an entertainment complex and theme park, called the Dream Center, in Shanghai, it said."

Also, I have just started to clean up ODW, so yes their is duplicate but some is source via DWA PR/IR and other by news sources. Spshu (talk) 19:25, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

Bloomberg News and The Hollywood Reporter are bad interpretations of the press release: http://ir.dreamworksanimation.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=698481, which was released a day before, and where it was only mentioned that Dream Center is a project between DWA and Chinese. Variety's article reports that ODW will "produce TV production, live action films, live action TV – including reality formats, as well as mobile and Internet content", and again falsely recalls that it will "build a diverse cultural and entertainment district".
Here Katzenberg explicitly said that Oriental DreamWorks and Dream Center are different companies: http://seekingalpha.com/article/971501-dreamworks-animation-skg-management-discusses-q3-2012-results-earnings-call-transcript?page=4&p=qanda&l=last:
"So there really are 2 aspects to Oriental DreamWorks. One is the film company itself, and we are actively moving forward on the animation studio. We have actually acquired a company in China that -- 37 Entertainment, which is an animation, existing animation house there that's been doing some television work for us that got about 175 employees and is a kind of a great foundation for us to build on. They are located in Shanghai. So we have acquired them, and we've now begun the process of starting to train and ramp up the operation there. Our current plan is that we will be making Kung Fu Panda 3 as a true co-production, meaning 1/3 of the production of Kung Fu Panda 3 will be done at our studio in Shanghai, and the balance will be done here at the studio using the current creative leadership that we've had on the movie. So that will actually allow us to have a film in the marketplace. We're looking at right now the first quarter of 2016, so Kung Fu Panda 3, tentatively is scheduled for Golden Week in China in 2016. Our first original production in China will come in 2017, and we are planning on a film per year following that. So then separate from that is Dream Center, which is outside and now is a separate entity from Oriental DreamWorks. And that is the real estate development in downtown Shanghai, an entertainment center there. And we will have more to share with you on that when we see you next year. But it's progressing along, and we don't really have enough facts and figures and details to model a -- model it for you on terms of what it might mean to DWA."
So, there is no need for the clean-up...--Carniolus (talk) 19:47, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
"So there really are 2 aspects to Oriental DreamWorks. One is the film company itself, ..." "So then separate from that is Dream Center, which is outside and now is a separate entity from Oriental DreamWorks."
Yes, their is a need to clean it up. This clearly shows that Dream Center was a part of ODW then spun out. As what a ODW subsidiary or a whole seperate entity? Spshu (talk) 20:33, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
Dream Center was never part of ODW. In 2012, when the partnership was formed, ODW and Dream Center were only an idea, a concept. In the 2012 press release, DC was not mentioned to be part of ODW. A few months later, Katzenberg decided that DC will be a separate entity. We don't know if DC is actually a separate company or a ODW subsidiary, only that they have separate financing. Previous versions of this article and DreamWorks Animation's article were written according to the available information. Claiming that DC is part of ODW, is, with this sources, a misinformation.--Carniolus (talk) 21:32, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
Huh? I just gave you from YOUR source that indicates that Dream Center was a part of ODW. If it never was then why does Katzenberg state that Dream Center "now is a separate entity from Oriental DreamWorks." That implies that Dream Center was an "aspect" of ODW with the first of which was the production company side. What then was the other part/aspect of ODW if not Dream Center?
The 2012 PR states: "The parties also announced that "Dream Center," a must-see cultural and entertainment destination for tourists and Shanghai citizens alike will open in 2016. With an investment exceeding ¥20 billion, "Dream Center" will be built on a T-shaped block in Xuhui Riverside." ... "Jeffrey Katzenberg, Chief Executive Officer of DreamWorks Animation said, 'Together with China Media Capital and our other joint venture partners, I am very pleased to establish Oriental DreamWorks in Xuhui in order to bring a high-quality, multi-media cultural and entertainment center to the area. Today's signing ceremony is a historic milestone that represents tremendous and ever-growing opportunities for Oriental DreamWorks.'"
"In 2012, when the partnership was formed, ODW and Dream Center were only an idea, a concept." So ideas have value. So "Kung Fu Panda 3" was a "concept" at the time of the press release should I take that out of the article as being false, a misinformation? If ODW was a concept at its announcement, and is the partnership/company, then why do we consider the announcement date the founding date of the company? Spshu (talk) 23:51, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
From the press release: "For the first time, representatives of Oriental DreamWorks discussed future business plans. Oriental DreamWorks intends to principally engage in content production and its derivative industries, and the joint venture's partners also intend to develop "Dream Center..."
So, Oriental DreamWorks already existed in August 2012. While plans for Dream Center were only discussed at the time by the venture's partners (and not by ODW). A few month later DC went from a plan to a separate entity, which could mean anything, even that DC was still in planning stage.
The Standard, November 2013: "The Dream Center project will be funded by China Development Bank..." So DC is 100% financed by the Chinese, while 10x smaller ODW ($2.7 billion vs $350 million) is 45% owned by DWA. Any Chinese involvement in DC via ODW would significantly reduce DWA's share in ODW.
Anyway, ODW article is about Oriental DreamWorks Film & TV Technology Co., Ltd., which was established for "production and development of Motion Picture and Television Motion Picture content, as well as content for an Online Distribution Platform," and which is a subsidiary of ODW Animation Limited, which is a subsidiary of Oriental DreamWorks Holding Limited: SHAREHOLDERS AGREEMENT
--Carniolus (talk) 11:02, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

←I think we are looking at different levels of the ODW group of companies with you looking at one of the subsidiaries, the "Production WFOE", while I am looking at Oriental DreamWorks Holdings, the "Company" of the agreement. The Production WFOE subsidary isn't involved in distribution of movies according to the ODW Shareholders Agreement you cite above, but is included in the article. Other ODW companies were set up for distribution:

  • "Ancillary Subsidiary", ODW Commodity Limited, a Hong Kong limited liability company (p.3)
  • “Ancillary WFOE”, Shanghai Oriental DreamWorks Culture & Media Co., Ltd., a wholly foreign owned enterprise Chinese subsidiary of the Ancillary Subsidiary
  • “BVI Subsidiary”, Oriental Dreamworks Limited, a British Virgin Islands exempted limited liability company incorporated

The whole agreement includes references to Animation Parks, Theme Parks, Animation Park Subsidiary, Theme Park Subidiary and the management of theme parks and animation parks. “Theme Park JV” is to be formed per section 2.06(c) between the ODW's Theme Park Subidiary and a CPE (the Chinese partners) selected joint venture partner with the requirement that the "Ancillary WFOE" manage and operate the park. Now to "The Standard" article, it doesn't say what kind of funding (loans, investment, indirect investment, mixed, etc.) that China Development Bank will be providing to the Dream Center. The article also indicates that it is a major shareholder of China Media Capital (CMC). Thus, it might hand CMC an investment to funnel through the upper level ODW or for some combination of CMC and Bank as JV partners, or other combinations. "Any Chinese involvement in DC via ODW would significantly reduce DWA's share in ODW." Not really, as it will be operated & managed by a subsidiary (Ancillary WFOE) and partly owned by another subsidiary (Theme Park Subsidiary) in a Chinese-foreign joint venture company (Theme Park JV). This similar to Disney Euro/Paris. Shareholders Agreement Section 2.06(e) requires that all ODWH subsidiary except the park joint ventures to remain whole owned by ODWH. It is probably best to write the article from the highest level in the ODW hierarchy of companies, Oriental DreamWorks Holdings, Ltd. Spshu (talk) 21:50, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

Penguins of Madagascar[edit]

Hi Carniolus, with regard to this edit I have two questions: 1) The Zap2It source ascribes an original airdate of Dec 1, 2012, not Dec 24, 2013. If that is the source we're using, shouldn't we use the original airdate? 2) Where did the episode summaries come from? Zap2It reference does not contain loglines. Thanks, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:46, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi. First, I must say that I don't follow the series, and I have been editing the article only recently. 1) I would guess that those 2 episodes weren't released on that date, but some old episodes did (this happened quite a lot for Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness). 2) Summaries have been copied from List of The Penguins of Madagascar episodes#Unaired episodes. Both episodes already aired in foreign countries and can be found on the internet, so I would guess that summaries came from there.--Carniolus (talk) 21:15, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
For various reasons that have been discussed since the series began airing, we decided to restrict use of the |OriginalAirDate= field to the first air date in the US for consistency, as that was the country of origin. Although the Zap2it reference says December 1, 2012, the episodes never aired on that date, which is why they are in the "Unaired" section of List of The Penguins of Madagascar episodes, which explains "In addition to episodes that have aired, a number of other episodes have been produced. Some of these were scheduled for broadcast but never aired, while others are yet to be placed on Nickelodeon's U.S. schedule. In the past, some episodes were first released on DVD before being aired on TV. The first such episode was "Popcorn Panic", which was originally released on DVD but eventually aired on May 9, 2009. All the episodes which remain unaired in the US have been aired in other countries, meaning that all episodes have aired." As "Operation: Swap-panzee" and "Snowmageddon" have never aired in the U.S., they should not be added to a season article until they actually are scheduled to air. --AussieLegend () 03:03, 13 December 2013 (UTC)
@Carniolus: To AussieLegend (talk · contribs)'s note, I would also add that this particular Zap2It page likely can't be considered reliable due to the seemingly erroneous mention of Dec 1, 2012 as the official airdate, as we're left to cherry-pick the data we wish to believe. I'm not aware of any other reliable sources that bolster this airdate (Futon Critic, TVGuide.com), so I'd recommend we avoid this data until either the ep airs or we get more reliable sources. After all, we are neither a live news source, nor TVGuide. Related: I'm pretty sure we are not allowed to copy/paste loglines without proper attribution, and it seems contrary to copyright law and general integrity to incorporate synopses in this way, even if they are properly sourced. UPDATE: Whoops, I misread your link. My mistake. However, it's probably not kosher that we use synopses for an episode that nobody knows anything about on account of there being insufficient sources. How to Train Your Dragon 2 spoiler[edit]

Information icon Please do not delete or flag potential "spoilers" in Wikipedia articles, as you did in the article How to Train Your Dragon 2. It is generally expected that the subjects of Wikipedia articles will be covered in detail, and giving a section a title such as "Plot" or "Ending" is considered sufficient warning to the reader that the text will contain revelations about the narrative. Cars 3[edit]

The reason I included the Guardian article is because they have mentioned that Pixar hasn't confirmed the news just yet. I don't really like to say that a film will be made on only the say-so of one actor when the company itself hasn't actually said that the film will be made. I've seen it happen where an actor involved with the film, sometimes even someone who would be considered to be a good source, will claim that something will definitely get made only for the film to never actually come to fruition. Sometimes it's just that someone was told something along the lines that something will likely happen and they took it to be truth. It could just be that they told Wallis that it was likely to happen and that they'll need him to research for now, but haven't actually confirmed anything. That's why I wanted to include that Pixar hasn't confirmed anything, which is what I really want in the article more than anything else. I'm just uncomfortable saying "yes this will happen" when only one person is saying that it will happen and the company itself isn't saying anything at all. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 17:17, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

But, we don't claim that the film will be made or that Pixar has confirmed anything. The original quote is "Cars 3, we're coming back to the road. And we're coming back to 66 into 99. That's the road that runs right through central California." So, Wallis thinks that the third film will be made, and that is what it is reported. Nothing more. No unnecessary commentaries, which add nothing new to the article. Anybody can interpret his words as he/she wants, including in the way you wrote above.
Actually, I don't mind a commentary that Pixar has nothing confirmed so far. Because this is true and has a source. I have a problem with several other things:
  • "In mid-October 2013 The Guardian reported..." and "Pixar has not yet confirmed reports..." - The Guardian was not the first which reported about Wallis (actually it was 2 months late). Reports also do not matter, as the original source was Radio WGBZ and Wallis himself.
  • "that there were rumors..." - this is not a rumor. Wallis said something in an interview and his words are fact.
  • "production would soon begin." - this is not what Wallis said in the interview...
In addition, there are exclusive reports daily on various news portals. Should we add any time we cite them "but X hasn't confirmed anything yet"?--Carniolus (talk) 20:39, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

Just a heads up[edit]

I noticed you uploaded the original work from which I made derivatives from. The reason I didn't upload the original is because WP:WATERMARK forbids freely licensed images from being uploaded with a watermark, which is why I used derivatives. The copyrighted "Disney" and "Dolby" logos are also prominently displayed on the original which could inhibit free-use as well. I wasn't sure if you were aware of that, so just letting you know in case an admin notices it and opens a deletion review. DrNegative (talk) 17:04, 28 January 2014 (UTC)

I don't think logos will be a problem as there are plenty of similar Disney and Dolby logos on Commons. Maybe only a proper license is missing. Regarding the watermark, I don't think Commons has a very strict rule that forbids watermarks. For example, on Removing watermarks, it says that watermarks "are generally discouraged," while the guideline for watermarks is currently only in a proposed state. There is a category on Commons with many similarly watermarked photos, which have been tagged for watermark removal, but not for deletion.--Carniolus (talk) 20:11, 28 January 2014 (UTC)

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Geri's Game shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period.

DBaK (talk) 00:34, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

Hi! There is nothing to fix :) Your Angelo Rules logo was replaced with a transparent version, which looks better in the infobox. Since your logo is a non-free file that is not used anymore, it needs to be deleted from Wikipedia. By the way, your image was too big for a non-free file: WP:Image resolution.
Regarding the Plankton Invasion logo - I've only moved it into the infobox, which is the usual place for a logo.--Carniolus (talk) 14:26, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

Hello, Carniolus. I've been trying to find an image of the Marvel Music logo for the article's infobox. I recently found the logo on page 19 of this PDF, although it doesn't appear to be a vector image, as it looks blurry compared to the adajacent Hollywood Records logo. Can you confirm my suspicions? ~ Jedi94 (Want to tell me something?) 23:06, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Yes, you are right, this logo is not stored in the vector format. It seems like that Marvel is quite protective of its own logos, since I've tried several times to find one for Marvel Studios, but without luck so far.--Carniolus (talk) 13:44, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

August 2014[edit]

Could you please explain what you mean by "Third-party sources must themselves discuss about those 'historical inaccuracies'"? Wikipuser777 (talk) 20:50, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi. On Wikipedia, we can't draw our own conclusions, so we can cover only what is explicitly written in reliable sources. Sources you added don't discuss about historical inaccuracies in the film, and at least one of them is not reliable, since it can be edited by anyone. For more information, please see WP:ORIGINAL and WP:ORIGINALSYN.--Carniolus (talk) 21:20, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
Hi, but both sources are from Encyclopaedia Britannica, which is widely regarded as a reputable source. Furthermore, the articles confirmed what really happened in history. Wikipuser777 (talk) 22:41, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
Wikipuser777 is now blocked for edit warring, but nonetheless: the sources must discuss the movie and its inaccuracies. For them to compare the movie with the Brittanica and say "this or that is inaccurate", that's the definition of original research. In addition, Mr. Peabody & Sherman is an animated sci-fi movie for kids, so this is all kind of trivial to begin with. One might as well take issue with the very first clause of the very first sentence of the plot summary: "Mr. Peabody is a talking dog". Wikipuser--dogs don't talk. At least not in English. Drmies (talk) 22:55, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

Sony Pictures Animation[edit]

Upon closer inspection, it looks like this is a case of persistent addition of unsourced content. I have semi-protected the page to prevent further disruption. It would be helpful, however, if you labeled your reverts as "removed unsourced claim" or the like, and not "vandalism". The edits appear more like a content dispute, not outright vandalism. This lead me to believe this was an all too common edit war. I did my own research, however, and the IP's additions appeared to be mere unsourced original research. Next time, do not continually revert other's changes and clutter the page history. Simply report the user or the page to WP:RPP and wait for preventive measures to be put in place. Thanks — MusikAnimal talk 16:03, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

Edits to Planes: Fire & Rescue[edit]

  • The amount of text that I added is not particularly out-of-scale. As the weeks pass after this film was released, many users will likely add plot details. How much plot matter to add, will likely keep on being a bone of contention :: often one man's trivia is another man's important relevant matter.
  • I bold-faced the characters' names in the list of actors because they were hard to pick out otherwise.
Anthony Appleyard (talk) 21:01, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
Problems:
  • What does the quote add to the plot?
  • WP:FILMPLOT clearly says: "Plot summaries for feature films should be between 400 and 700 words". Since this film is not "unconventional", "the summary should not exceed the range."
  • "Voice actors" header is redundant as every actor in this film is a voice actor.
  • Roles are never bolded as per WP:FILMCAST: "Also, per Wikipedia's Manual of Style on boldface, please limit boldface to table headers and captions. Actors and roles should not be bolded."
  • Unsourced information that looks like original research: "Everything in the movie was CGI. There are a few side-view-of-airplane-shaped mountains.".
--Carniolus (talk) 21:19, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
  • OK, I have removed the "voice actors" line and the boldfacing. I have seen film plot descriptions a great variety of lengths. Some people want the detail. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 21:23, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
I can't say if those details are necessary or not (the quote definitely is not), since I haven't seen the film, but from my experience, such a lengthy plot is just a few expansions away from being stripped down again to a bare minimum - much less than 700 words - or it will be stuck with an "over-detailed plot" note forever. This can be prevented only if every over-limit expansion is automatically reverted.--Carniolus (talk) 21:57, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
  • This looks like running into the endless war again between inclusionists and exclusionists. This depends on whether there is a link to a website elsewhere which describes the plot in more detail. For example, long descriptions of plots in Star Trek and Stargate etc episodes is not so much needed in Wikipedia because those serieses each have their own wikis. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:26, 17 August 2014 (UTC)

Inclusion of The Incredibles Franchise in Template:Pixar[edit]

Well hi there User:Carniolus. I hope you remember me. Anyways you say that only existing articles should be there in navboxes. That is indeed true but that is not a rigidly strict rule. I suggest you take another look at WP:EXISTING, it says that a red link can be created as long as it is very likely to be made into an article. Incredibles (franchise) definitely satisfies that exception. It is notable, article stuff and is definitely going to be made sooner or later. Thus i think it is eligible for inclusion in the navbox. Plus it is going to help find someone willing to make an article on it. Someone might look at it and create an article through the link. And, anyways, it's not going to hurt anyone, is it?. King Of The Wise (talk) 09:00, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi. I don't think that a franchise article will be created any time soon. The Incredibles 2 does not even have a release date, and according to the List of Pixar films, it can't be released before 2017. Even then it would be too soon, since a franchise article with two films released can't offer almost no additional value. In my opinion (and some other editors agree: Talk:Rio 2#Rio film series) we should wait for a third film or maybe a television series, before we create the franchise article. This means that the Pixar's navigation box would have a red link for at least three years, and if we wait for the third film, maybe forever.--Carniolus (talk) 11:39, 6 September 2014 (UTC)
Um, er, well, er (Man, i am completely at a loss off words!). Well I reckon that by the time you read this you might have already seen what all I have already done since creating this section on your talk page. But Finding Nemo too has a Franchise page. It also has just two films and is not going to be released anytime soon. And anyways the franchise article can be created anytime (any article can be created anytime if it is about a notable and confirmed title with enough references supporting it). Plus I think we have enough material to fill the franchise page, just like the Finding Nemo Franchise page. The Franchise page, aferrall, is not only about the films. We have got Video Games, Merchandise, Short Films and much more. I think we can indeed create (unless some idiot has already done so :p) a franchise page with a summaritical info of all this. King Of The Wise (talk) 12:23, 6 September 2014 (UTC)
Video games, merchandise, one short film... do not make something a franchise. All that is standard media which supplements almost all animated films. Currently, the franchise article for The Incredibles would contain exactly the same information that is already in the film's article, only condensed, and would be therefore redundant. A franchise article's role is to tie many articles together, and offer readers some additional value, like tables where various data can be compared. The Finding Nemo franchise is one such example of an article, which gives no additional information...--Carniolus (talk) 21:15, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Carniolus. I was wondering if you could do me the favor of uploading an SVG vector image of the Amblin Entertainment logo, which I have already found stored as a vector image on page 9 of this PDF file. I still don't possess the necessary skills to perform such a task, so I'd be much obliged! Thank you, ~ Jedi94 (Want to tell me something?) 19:18, 14 September 2014 (UTC)
