Léal Souvenir[edit]

Haven't heard anything for a little bit; have I missed an e-mail or something? Adam Cuerden (talk) 06:25, 22 November 2014 (UTC)

No sorry Adam, hyave been caught up at work. I'll get something to you monday pm, if you are still willing to help me. Tks so far, though it might not seem so, I'm very appreciative. Ceoil (talk) 10:13, 22 November 2014 (UTC)
I'll do my best, but I'm hitting a busy period, so the sooner you can get it the better, because I'm probably going to be without Wikipedia for a week in there soon. Adam Cuerden (talk) 22:12, 22 November 2014 (UTC)

FGM[edit]

Ceoil, FGM made it! What a relief it is to get that done. Thank you so much for reading and supporting it. I was very moved when you said it had taken you three hours to read – it was really kind of you to do that. All the best, SlimVirgin (talk) 00:11, 19 November 2014 (UTC)

I read it slowly over that time; it was uncomfortable and hard going. But I am very impressed to be honest with what you achived here. Your writing style is always so crisp, to the point and clear. Congratulations and kudos, this is a substantial piece of work. Ceoil (talk) 23:07, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
@SlimVirgin: I'm really impressed you managed this, but am not really looking forwards to delving into that dark, dark place when writing it up for the Signpost tonight. Adam Cuerden (talk) 12:23, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

I was thinking - we're going to get this sorted. At the moment, the worst case scenario is not it being promoted, then fixed soon after; the worst case scenario is it having to go through FAC again over something that we will do. We have a plan, we know how to move forwards, and the problems are surmountable. I'd prefer to finish this before promotion, but I am going on holiday soon, and really don't want that causing it to fail. =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 12:21, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

Christmas Eve[edit]

And here we go...

So, I made some initial suggestions on Victoria's page, for things I'm pretty sure will pass. I'm primarily checking http://nga.gov and https://www.google.com/culturalinstitute/project/art-project as the sites most likely to have appropriate content. If you can decide, I can get anything from those sites up at reasonably high-res, so just let me know. The Metropolitan Art Museum ( http://www.metmuseum.org/ ) is also good, but only if the work is there. Adam Cuerden (talk) 00:28, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

I'll be gone from tomorrow night for a few weeks, so if you decide on a pic before then, I'll throw my lot in and work up the article. Sorry to put the ball in your park, but you know a hell of a lot more about FP than I. Its a good project though, and I'll be editing from around the 21st dec on. Ceoil (talk) 00:33, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

How about this El Greco? I think El Greco would be a neat choice, as, to my knowledge, we've never featured anything by him. Adam Cuerden (talk) 00:43, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

Except for his bio, an FA worked by the much missed User:Yannismarou, haha. But yes, your on. Ceoil (talk) 00:46, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
I'm sorry, I meant "at Featured Picture" =) But, aye. It's a gorgeous work in a highly distinctive style that should attract a lot of eyes. =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 00:58, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
Agree. I sence a deal just formed here :) Ceoil (talk) 01:03, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
I'll get it uploaded! Adam Cuerden (talk) 09:43, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
(talk page stalker). El Greco is an amazing artist, who always seems to me to be about 350 years ahead of his time. I remember being shocked when I saw The Disrobing of Christ at Upton House a few years ago. It looks like it could have been painted in the 1920s. Martinevans123 (talk) 10:42, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
That is a lovely work. I'm really glad to finally be bringing some of his work to featured pictures, because we've neglected him far too much. =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 11:51, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
Ready! There's also a second Adoration of the Shepherds available from the Metropolitan Museum, http://www.metmuseum.org/collection/the-collection-online/search/436571?rpp=30&pg=1&ft=el+greco&pos=7 - let me know if you want that uploaded for comparison. Both certainly have their charms, and we could easily have them as a set of images. I like the first one better - more interesting use of the negative space and a more detailed background (although it's a much larger work) - but the second is also a very good artwork. There's also at least a third on the same subject we may want to work into the article. Adam Cuerden (talk) 12:34, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
Also, here's another interesting work for Easter: http://www.metmuseum.org/collection/the-collection-online/search/652416?rpp=30&pg=1&ft=el+greco&pos=16 Adam Cuerden (talk) 11:25, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
  • Adam, send a couple links my way and I can probably get resolutions higher than the download version. (MET images) — Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:08, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

Ceoil, you know I like you[edit]

Sorry if I was unclear. Responded on my talk and I do appreciate your contribuitons. Hafspajen (talk) 09:58, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
