Welcome[edit]

Hello, Ceriy/Archive 1, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

If you are interested in Ukraine-related themes, you may want to check out the Ukraine Portal, particularly the Portal:Ukraine/New article announcements and Portal:Ukraine/Ukraine-related Wikipedia notice board. The New article announcements board is probably the most important and the most attended one. Please don't forget to announce there the new articles you create. Adding both boards to your watchlist is probably a good idea.

Finally, in case you are interested, similar boards exist at Russia portal as many editors contribute to topics related to both countries. The respective boards there are: Portal:Russia/New article announcements and Portal:Russia/Russia-related Wikipedia notice board. Of course there are also many other portals at Wikipedia or you may just get right into editing.

Again, welcome! , Bogdan 21:38, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Playgiarism[edit]

Hi Ceriy. Thanks for trying to help with the Vepr article , but please with you want to contribute don't just lift the text word for word from a website because that will just result in deletion of the page. Only now did I notice that it was you who originally plagiarized the website, which, in turn, I had to rewrite it.

Secondly, why did you decide to once again completely copy my user page? It's not that great, and it's not difficult to make one. So please make your own.

And lastly...being "Proudly Ukrainian" I thought that you might be interested in joining the Ukrainian WikiProject, it's just a place were editors get together and try to improve Ukraine-related articles. Pryvit! Bogdan 21:38, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ukrainian Ground Forces[edit]

Any information is good :-) I suggest that you insert what information you have into the Ukrainian Ground Forces article. If someone sees you started this work and has information himself he will add it. Also I watch every army page to be ready to immediately start the work on the graphic as soon as I find there is enough information available. Thanks, --noclador 06:55, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ceriy. Good work adding the numbers of the Brigades. However there are no units that remain under direct command of the Western Operational Command, Southern Operational Command and Territorial Directorate "North". According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces White Book (page 91) all units have been placed under direct command of the Army Corps and the airmobile regiments are now part of the airmobile brigades. Also some Brigades are being dissolved, but I do not know which that will. If you have any information let me know. --noclador 20:02, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

24th Rifle Division. There's no need for a separate section on the 24th 'Motor' Rifle Division nor I think for the short time the formation was in Ukrainian service. I think you should just add a section about its time under Ukrainian control to the bottom of the article. Buckshot06 07:28, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ceriy, great work on the 51st and 72nd Mechanized Brigades! Good bit of info filling in the Ukrainian Ground Forces. I had a couple of questions though. First, could you insert a source for the brigades' orders of battle? Newspapers? official documents? Also, on which page of the White Book or other document is that list of commands and brigades under the various corps? I've look but I can't find it. Cheers and thanks, Buckshot06 20:18, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hello everyone. I just wanted to say that I really appreciate your participation Ceriy (and anyone else's), in trying to write a good quality range of articles that surround the Ukrainian military. Maybe you would consider, in the future starting a wikiproject of something like; WP:Militaries of the former USSR, or simply WP:Ukrainian Military. Just so we could get our priorities straight.
Secondly. Good question Buckshot, I've been wondering that myself and I can't seem to find it in the white book or anywhere else. I've have been looking for a list of the Ukrainian order of battle for while. Perhaps you could reveal your source so that I could help you in completing articles for all (or most) brigades. Thanks again :), Bogdan 20:53, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, will fix that - but it was unclear for the general reader. Buckshot06 14:53, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ukrainian Airmobile[edit]

Hey Ceriy, great work! on the Ukrainian formations. A couple of small points. Please add 1'st' behind formations like 1st Airmobile Division and 95(th) Airmobile Brigade. Also, I know that 1st Airmobile was a shortlived formation, and you know, but it would be good to have a couple of references. Great work so far. Hi Ceriy. I have nominate your 25th Airborne Brigade (Ukraine) to the Wikipedia:Did you know (DYK) project. You can find the entry for your article here. But you can see that an admin asked some citations for the history section. Can you fulfill his request? If we can make it as a DYK, then it will be display on the mainpage and it will be a nice achievement to you as a newbie :-) --♪♫ ĽąĦĩŘǔ ♫♪ walkie-talkie 14:34, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ceriy, please link the individual unit history pages (in Ukrainian if necessary) to the individual sentances in the history section where inserted informatino from them. That would make tracing things back easier, even if someone has to run a machine translation to check. Best regards Buckshot06 19:48, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I added some references as you instruct me on my talkpage. Actually the language does not matter when finding the citations. Even I used Google Translator to translate Russian into English. Happy editing!! --♪♫ ĽąĦĩŘǔ ♫♪ walkie-talkie 20:10, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Updated DYK query On 17 September, 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article 25th Airborne Brigade, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Marines DYK[edit]

Hi Ceriy, again, great work with the Ukrainian Marine Corps article! To direct further attention towards all Ukrainian military article's I've nominated Marine Corps (Ukraine) for the DYK category. You can check it out for yourself here. Best regards! Bogdan 02:25, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This was the exact reason I set this article up, and why I'm going to go ahead with the Soviet 13th Army and Soviet 38th Army in the same way. These formations served 40 years or more under their Soviet names and have battle histories under those names. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, not just a record of current events, and these formations deserve entries under the names they fought under on the Eastern Front - if only to honour the thousands of Soviet soldiers who died fighting under the colours. I believe the less than ten years of history of the Ukrainian 6th Army Corps can happily go under this title for a while, and when you've finished the brigades and can get the time and materials to write a good amount on the new Ukrainian corps, we can easily create a new page at something like '6th Army Corps (Ukraine)'. By that time all the Ukrainian corps will have had a little more history, too! Cheers Buckshot06 22:24, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
