Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:CaroMont Health.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 13:46, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Caromont.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Caromont.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Speedy deletion of Gastonia Transit[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg

A tag has been placed on Gastonia Transit requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. -MBK004 00:02, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Gaston County EMS (GEMS)[edit]

Copyright-problem.svg

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Gaston County EMS (GEMS), and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.co.gaston.nc.us/GEMSHP/AboutUs.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 02:10, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Gaston County EMS (GEMS)[edit]

Nuvola apps important yellow.svg

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Gaston County EMS (GEMS), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Gaston County EMS (GEMS). Orphaned non-free media (Image:5r67r65.png)[edit]

Nuvola apps important blue.svg Thanks for uploading Image:5r67r65.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:33, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Gaston County EMS[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg

A tag has been placed on Gaston County EMS requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 20:50, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject North Carolina May 2008 Newsletter[edit]

NEWSLETTER

Issue One • May 2008About the Newsletter

News

Hello WikiProject North Carolina members! A few of us at the The Newsroom Team decided to get together and re-energize the project, through these newsletters. This newsletter is hopefully the first of many to come. We want this project to be active in creating and expanding articles related to our state. If you're a current or former resident of the state, we hope that you will help spread the knowledge of how much there is to learn about North Carolina.

  • A great way to expand new articles is by keeping track of the new articles list. Please add any new NC-related articles or older ones you come across that have not been tagged with the project banner. When you notice an article has been added to the list, read over it and check for citations, grammatical errors, and spelling. If you've written a NC-related article in the past 5 days, read the requirements for Did you know... and add your article to the DYK nomination list. It might be chosen for the Main Page!
  • If you see a new member added to the project list, a great idea would be to leave them a welcome message on their talk page. Show them we notice new members and that we want them to become active participants.
  • If you have any questions in regards to the project, feel free to contact someone from The Newsroom Team. Thanks for all of your hard work and happy editing!

Merge discussion for Dr. Edward D. Sadler Elementary School [edit]

An article that you have been involved in editing, Dr. Edward D. Sadler Elementary School , has been proposed to be merged into another article. If you are interested in the merge discussion, please participate by going here, and adding your comments on the discussion page. Thank you. • Gene93k (talk) 04:08, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Re: Dr. Ed D. Salder School[edit]

Dr. Edward D. Sadler Elementary School was tagged because it shows no evidence of notability. Primary schools are generally not notable. This one does not cite 3rd-party reliable sources. A search shows very little non-trivial RS coverage. Unless Salder Elementary shows evidence of notability, it should be merged to its school district. • Gene93k (talk) 13:58, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

North Carolina End of Grade Tests[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg

A tag has been placed on North Carolina End of Grade Tests, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Speedy deletion of Image:GMS.jpg[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

A tag has been placed on Image:GMS.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free image with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria.

If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the image is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the image. If the image has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

I don't really know how to tell you this, and I feel really bad since you're investing quite some time on this article. For now, it still qualifies for what we call "speedy deletion" (instantaneous). I didn't want to delete it right away because I wanted to give you some time to improve it. Unfortunately, your firefighter team still does not meet our notability criteria, which is the lower bound for inclusion. In short you need to show, using independent national coverage, that they are renown enough for us to have material to write about them. I'll come back in a few days to see if you were able to find it, but again, for now, it doesn't seem to pass the notability threshold. If you need further help, please don't hesitate to post on my talk page or to put {{helpme}} followed by your question on this page. -- lucasbfr talk 09:16, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of "Cramerton Middle School"[edit]

The deletion of an article you created, Cramerton Middle School, has been proposed for the following reason:

Non-notable Middle School, does not satisfy notability guidelines in WP:SCHOOL

You are welcome to improve the article to meet Wikipedia's quality standards and remove the deletion notice from the article. You may also remove the notice if you disagree with the deletion, though in such cases, further discussion may take place at Articles for deletion, and the article may still be deleted if there is a consensus to do so.

Wikipedia has certain standards for inclusion that all articles must meet. Certain types of article must establish the notability of their subject by asserting its importance or significance. Additionally, since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, content inappropriate for an encyclopedia, or content that would be more suited to somewhere else (such as a directory or social networking website) is not acceptable.

See What Wikipedia is not for the relevant policy. You may wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

CSD notice[edit]

You just left this rather terse comment on my talk page. I am not sure what article you are referring to (no article "GASTON K12" exists), but if you are talking about this school (on which I subsequently altered the criteria), I nominated it for a speedy deletion because it was an article about an unremarkable school (per WP:SCHOOL). Incidentally, your threat of a block for "vandalism" is completely inappropriate, and such an action would be a quite serious abuse of administrator power. -- Scjessey (talk) 01:56, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

I am confused. The articles that you are describing were created by User:Texas Whitt. Are you the same user? -- Scjessey (talk) 02:06, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Sockpuppetry case[edit]

You have been accused of sockpuppetry. Please refer to Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Chad01 for evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with notes for the suspect before editing the evidence page. Scjessey (talk) 02:36, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Information.svg Please do not delete content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Chad01, without explaining the valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your recent edits[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button Button sig.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Gaston County Schools articles[edit]

Apparently we've both been writing articles for schools in Gaston County. It seems you wrote some articles that were deleted for non-notability and then I, not knowing of your previous articles, re-created the same articles yesterday. Now that we've both been informed of the criteria, I guess all is cool (except for the lost time). I think the other guy now understands I'm not your sock puppet.--Texas Whitt (talk) 06:24, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

If you're going to re-create those pages, make sure you first have some reason why they're notable or they'll get deleted again. That's just Wikipedia's policy. You can look at what I did for Belmont Middle and John Chavis Middle. (Did Belmont Middle use to be the High School back in the 1940s?) I think that's the kind of thing they're looking for. For the other middle schools, you might look for more info in printed sources at the library, since I can't find anything online.--Texas Whitt (talk) 17:06, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:CramertonMS.jpg)[edit]

Ambox warning blue.svg Thanks for uploading Image:CramertonMS.jpg.

Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:22, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:GCPD.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:GCPD.gif. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Image copyright problem with File:Ancorage, Ak.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ancorage, Ak.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 00:13, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:NCDOCMAP.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:NCDOCMAP.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 16:43, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Wrigleysbigred.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Wrigleysbigred.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Image uploads[edit]

Hi. The vast majority of your image uploads are not acceptable. They contain flagrantly false licensing information or other problems. On File:NCDOCMAP.jpg, for example, after you were informed that the image would be deleted because its use is inconsistent with our fair use policy, you changed the description to claim it as your own. This is not acceptable. If you continue to upload images that contain false licensing information or otherwise do not meet our image use policies, you will be blocked. --B (talk) 05:23, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Ashevillecitixenjune162009.png[edit]

Copyright-problem.svg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Ashevillecitixenjune162009.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Replaceable fair use File:GASTONLONG.png[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

Thanks for uploading File:GASTONLONG.png. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 17:42, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

I have tagged File:E_Trade_at_S_Brevard.png as {{orphaned fairuse}}. In order for the image to be kept at Wikipedia, it must be included in at least one article. Otherwise, it will be deleted in seven days. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 17:53, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

File source problem with File:GAZETTE.png[edit]

Copyright-problem.svg

Thanks for uploading File:GAZETTE.png.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:06, 24 November 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 18:06, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
