Welcome aboard! We're glad you wish to help develop Wikipedia, and we hope you enjoy participating in this virtual community as much as we do. As a new contributor, you may feel a little overwhelmed by the sheer size and scope of this project (which includes over 100,000 regular participants)...

...but don't worry, things will become easier and clearer as you go, and if you have any problems, there will always be other Wikipedians happy to help. There are some resources set forth below to help you get started. Good luck and have fun! -- The Wikipedia Welcoming Committee

One of the best places to get started after reading this page is Wikipedia:Introduction.

If you do get stuck, there are volunteers available to answer your questions on the following pages. You can usually expect an answer quickly, often within just a few minutes:

Tip: Sign your name on talk pages by adding four tildes (~~~~) after your question; this will automatically produce your username and the time, aiding the flow of discussion.

Here is a friendly and visual Welcome to Wikipedia in PDF form. We also have a copy of a published book, at Help:Wikipedia: The Missing Manual, if you would like to know a bit about how things are done. There is also a tutorial that can guide you step-by-step.

[edit] Welcome

Welcome to the wikipedia! Please try to acquaint yourself with wikipedia policy before blanking sections in Florentin Smarandache as you just did. Disagreeing with something is not sufficient grounds for removal. You must supply verifiable sources. The passage on Theoretical Physics that you removed from Florentin Smarandache made it quite clear that he is not widely considered to have made any positive contribution in this area. The same applies to Mathematics. If you do not read romanian, I doubt that you can judge all his poetry. This page falls within biographies of living people and fringe science, where care has to be exercised by editors. Thus, although I would probably agree with some of your sentiments, you must edit more carefully. This article has withstood calls for for deletion: I would be happy to see Progress in Physics deleted this time around. Happy editing. Mathsci (talk) 08:28, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

You are likely to be blocked if you continue editing in this way. You are effectively behaving like a vandal, since you are not adding any content nor engaging in discussion. Apparently you have not read WP policies and are just editing as it suits you, rather than according to the rules of WP. There are unfortunately no guidelines about self-published books or journals; your own point of view on this is completely irrelevant.
Please acquaint yourself with the rules (in particular WP:3RR for vandalism) before taking the law into your own hands. I have already alerted an administrator about your blanking actions. Why not actually try to add some content to the WP? Or take a look at fringe science? Mathsci (talk) 11:37, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
If you are the same as the Charles T. Le mentioned here, you should not be editing this article at all. You would not have a neutral point of view and you would have a clear-cut conflict of interest. Mathsci (talk) 12:14, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
I'm afraid that, although Florentin Smarandache's works may have no truth to them (I don't read Romanian, either), we should include them if they have a verifiable source and he is notable. Deletions of sourced, apparently relevant materials is not appropriate on Wikipedia. (On the other hand, if someone who reads Romanian could see whether the references and his publications in that language support the article, that would be quite helpful.) I've gotten in some trouble for deleting apparently sourced (but the articles are misquoted) sections with a claim of relevance (which I've challenged); deleting sourced sections merely because they're bad physics or mathematics is not acceptable here. — Arthur Rubin | (talk) 14:54, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WP:AN/I

I have reported you as a suspected sockpuppet of Florentin Smarandache. Smarandache has a history of using exactly this name on WP and elsewhere (e.g. in early self-published versions of his biography). --Mathsci (talk) 01:36, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
