Sparks Fly (song)[edit]

I got the sample for "Sparks Fly added if you could check it out see how it looks and edit the summary that'd be great JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 09:50, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

Also I don't know if the Genre I posted is right. She's considered country pop but "Sparks Fly" feels like a pop song JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 11:01, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

My apologies[edit]

I know that I have already apologized for my heated remarks yesterday, but I wanted to explain (not defend) what happened. I let myself get angry at what I believe another editor was and doing, i.e., incrementally dismantling everyone's work on the article and putting inappropriate comments on the talk page. I then let my temper go the wrong way and I am extremely sorry for that. For sure it is going to be a contentious issue and only the future will determine how notable CA will be in the future, you may be right and it will go nowhere past the trial. Anyway, sorry. Mugginsx (talk) 17:43, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

Apology accepted. We all get angry, every now and then.  Chickenmonkey  18:21, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
Thank you. That is very gracious of you. Mugginsx (talk) 18:25, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

Did not mean to excessive cross-post[edit]

Carol did mention many times she wanted everyone to comment and so many people have put their opinions on the talk page at one time or another on the same issue, I really thought that it would be the right thing to do and the fairest way to do it. Mugginsx (talk) 21:05, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

I didn't mean to insinuate that you would be doing something wrong, only that it would seem to be inefficient.  Chickenmonkey  21:13, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
OK, I anwered your message on article talk page. Sorry. Mugginsx (talk) 21:42, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

As promised[edit]

These are just general articles. I gave the quotes for the individual legal question that I am arguing on the talk page. I still have not found the Signpost article. Too tired tonight. Will check in the morning.

Reference Overkill discussion at Talk page of Death of Caylee Anthony[edit]

Would you please weigh in on this discussion? I have never heard of reference overkill in Wiki guidelines, especially on articles on living persons which are BLP issues. I have seen many detailed articles about living person such as this with numerous references because sometimes one reference does not say it all. But whatever your views, as to the right or wrong of it, would you please weigh in? Thanks Mugginsx (talk) 22:16, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Chickenmonkey. I did not realize that you can retain information even though the link became dead. I will undo my deletion. Mugginsx (talk) 23:38, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

Aronofsky[edit]

Hi ChickenMonkey.

I've not edited before on Wikipedia, but I read the article and it confused me. Further down the paragraph you will see that Pitt is mentioned again, and this is why I thought it didn't make sense. I corrected it as from what I see Brad Pitt was originally intended for the role. Why did you undo my edit?

Thanks

SIMONZZZ

Simonzzz (talk) 12:23, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

I apologize; the paragraph was poorly written, and I misunderstood it. When you changed Hugh Jackman to Brad Pitt, I assumed that was incorrect when, in fact, it was not; the paragraph just was not clear, because it was constructed in such a way to read as if the project had ultimately become The Fountain, with Pitt in the lead role, and that is not the case. I reworded it to clarify that Pitt was involved in the project, left, and then it ultimately became The Fountain, with Hugh Jackman in the lead role. Keep up the good editing.  Chickenmonkey  12:43, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
Hmmm...trying to get used to this interface. Thanks for your comments, and well done on the re-write. It truly makes a lot more sense now. Wikipedia is great!

I have a question...[edit]

Hi ChickenMonkey,

I gather you are a moderator or something? Can I ask a question please?

I tried to add a whole section on film director David Lynch as there was nothing about his designing etc, and a Parisian nightclub has just opened based on his designs. Also some earlier design work he did for one of his films.

I spent a bit of time gathering my information and including citations and hyperlinks etc (I was only 45 mins or so), but since I started someone else had typed 'big red balls' which caused it not to save. I was only in the 'sandbox' so I didn't think it would upload when I hit save but it clashed anyway. I looked back on the page and it's revisions but couldn't find that remark anywhere. Why did it clash with mine? Also when I exited it didn't seem to store my revision, but that's OK because I copied it into a word document on my desk top. Hopefully the formatting will remain when I bring it back - perhaps I should have put it in a text editor instead.

I also think it appropriate to add it under a new heading of 'Design' in Section 3 ('Other Art'), but am unsure how to create a new block of text that has it's own 'edit' functionality, and chapter link at the top of the page.

Sorry to bug you with the questions but I'm quite enjoying having some input.

Also BTW I'm in New Zealand and this club has nothing to do with me whatsoever.

Many thanks,

Simonzzz (talk) 11:29, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

Oh I'm back. I have put my text in my sandbox. I'd like to insert it if that's OK with you. I just need to figure out this 'reflist'. Leave it to me to do please, if you don't mind as I'm quite enjoying figuring it out, but I welcome your comments.

Kind regards

Simonzzz (talk) 12:17, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

I'm actually not a moderator, but you're still welcome to ask me questions--I can't promise that I'll be able to answer all questions; if I can't, I'll try to point you to someone that can.
I'm not sure where you're indicating that the "big red balls" thing occurred, but it seems you experienced an edit conflict. When that happens, you will arrive at a second "edit" page, where you will need to insert your text, again, before saving. Help:Edit conflict does a very good job of explaining this better than I could.
I took a look at your sandbox and your text on Lynch's design work looks good. This will help explain to you how to incorporate subsection headings. "Reflist" allows an article to list the references in a single place. David Lynch already contains "reflist", so you can just add your text to that article, and it will handle that. Hope I have been of some help.  Chickenmonkey  16:51, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

Thanks...I'll get to it in the next day or two.

A question about my profile[edit]

Hi Chickenmoney.

Sorry to bother you again, but you were most helpful before. I'm wanting to alter my profile name as I use Simonzzz for lots of other things and I notice that a google search on it brings up my Wikipedia user page. I also notice that most contributors have what looks like a IP address as their username. Can you explain if I can change my profile name that is used for editing (and btw I have been doing more small changes). It is great to 'have the power'..lol

Simonzzz (talk) 12:26, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

It is possible to have your username changed. Visit WP:RENAME, to read about the process.
If you wish to stop Google from indexing your user page, you could use Noindex; just add __NOINDEX__ to the top of your user page. This is perhaps an alternative to a username change, in your particular circumstance. This would remove your user page from Google search results, but it would still be possible for your user page to be found on mirror sites; it would be slightly less effective than a complete username change.
I hope this information is of use to you.  Chickenmonkey  13:31, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
Thanks very much for your assistance. I think I will just insert the No Index function. Cheers
Simonzzz (talk) 13:51, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
You're welcome.  Chickenmonkey  14:38, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
Hi. I saw this thread a while ago and thought I'd give __NOINDEX__ a try.
I've had __NOINDEX__ on both my user and talk pages a few weeks now but Google still brings up those pages on searches. Any advice? SlightSmile 02:58, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
Hmm, I'm not sure. Maybe it's just taking a while? Sorry I can't be more help.  Chickenmonkey  03:13, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Alone across australia.jpg)[edit]

Ambox warning blue.svg Thanks for uploading File:Alone across australia.jpg. 30 for 30 Shorts formatting[edit]

Could you let me know where you found that it is officially 30 for 30Shorts as opposed to 30 for 30 Shorts? On the official site (espn.com/30for30), and in the press releases, it is listed with the space. Thanks. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 19:06, 22 March 2013 (UTC)

I was going to look, and then reply to you; however, while I was looking, I decided you were right and went ahead with the fix of my mistake. What made me think the format of the title was 30 for 30Shorts is the title given to the webpage at espn.go.com/30for30/shorts. You'll notice the title of that webpage is 30 for 30Shorts Index; when I was filling the reference from that page, I grabbed that title for the reference and assumed that was the way they chose to stylize the title. Since it is stylized 30 for 30 Shorts elsewhere, it makes more sense to assume the title of the webpage is just a typo, so I corrected my error. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.  Chickenmonkey  22:22, 22 March 2013 (UTC)
Sure thing. I can see how you thought it was without the space. I also wanted to make sure that I was not missing anything myself. But yes, I think that is just a typo in the title. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 22:45, 22 March 2013 (UTC)

if you might...[edit]

There is a deletion discussion about the article The Pixar Theory and the topic seems to have met the GNG though a lot of (recent) coverage.... BUT my own research indicates the the base concept of "The Pixar Universe" has been recognized in media at least as early as 2003, making this later "theory" notable only in it making enough recent waves to be considered a "viral meme". Toward addressing the earlier concept, I began work on User:MichaelQSchmidt/The Pixar Universe, but upon further reflection, perhaps best that my little sourced article might best be folded into the main topic Pixar so that we'd have a suitable redirect target for The Pixar Theory? Think it worth doing? And would you care to assist? Thanks, Schmidt, Michael Q. 23:01, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
