The deletion of pages

Hello, I just saw the message you left to me and know that you had deleted all the pages I tried hard to create recently. Your deletion reason is that I may violate the Wikipedia copyright policy. And I am afraid that I can't agree with you. I had rewritten the content before I created each page and I spent average 2 hours for creating each page. The content mainly comes from Yahoo Finance, Google Finance, Google News and SEC. I have spent much time and efforts when creating the pages for non-profit purpose, but just wanted to contribute knowledge to Wikipedia and complete my assignment. If you think there is some improper content which may violate the copyright in the page, wouldn't you think it is better to tell me first, and I may try to improve it, instead of just deleting the all without any permission of the creator, which I think is quite disrespectful to me.

I still appreciate your suggestions and I want to improve my pages. Could you tell me the way to recover the pages you deleted? I have spent much time and efforts on creating them, and it will be a huge burn on me if I just recreate them again. I think it will be kind of you if you tell me the parts that you think I may violate the original copyright, and then I will modify my content, rather than just deleting all the pages.   • These articles were deleted in accordance with Wikipedia policy due to the blatant copyright violation. The articles were wholly in violation of Wikipedia policy and US Copyright law, which would require a fundamental rewrite from beginning to end. I am fully aware of source of the content, since the software revealed clear copy and paste of protected material in whole and part from the websites you mention above. In all honesty, it doesn't take much time to simply run a search for content about a subject, then merely copy the content into a Wikipedia article and call it a day. Please understand that while you may consider it disrespectful of others to remove this content without your permission, you actually contributed unauthorized material protected by US Copyright law, which is more than a bit disrespectful to the owners of the work. Wikipedia policy directs administrators to remove blatant, whole-page copyright violations as soon as detected. If you choose to start all over again, you need to draft a version of each article in a subpage of your userspace. Please make sure to write each article in your own words. Recreations of copyrighted content are speedily deleted. It is disruptive to persist in recreating such content. Wikipedia takes copyright violation very seriously. I recommend that you review Wikipedia's Wikimedia:Terms of Use, in particular, the copyright policies. I've also left some links to policy on your talk page. It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently fail to do so, must be blocked from editing. While you may hold a personal opinion or view on the value and validity of these articles, in all honesty, your opinion is diametrically opposed to the policies and purposes for which the encyclopedia has been designed. Unfortunately, this article was deleted not only due to the lack of asserted significance and/or importance, but also due to the blatant promotional content and copyright violation of the organization's website at http://www.the-aac.org/aboutchurch.aspx (various pages). I would recommend that you review the policies and guidelines pertaining to conflicts of interest, notability, reliable sources, promotional content, and copyright violations. When we create articles on Wikipedia, we are required to refrain from presenting promotional content, while establishing notability through significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. This article was only sourced to social networking sites, while it actually copied content word-for-word from the church's website. While I'm sure this is not what you want to hear, we cannot use this material in the encyclopedia. If you wish to create an article about this organization, it is important to start looking for reliable and independent sources. We can't use social networking sites, blogs, Wordpress, self-published sources, or material culled from affiliated entities.   • Hi Helen! Are you on a deadline? I'm experiencing the worst migraine ever, so I don't know if I'll be much help tonight. I started to take a look at the Andatee article and was rendered useless. Taking a quick look at Unitil, I notice that the lead doesn't state how and/or why the subject is significant, important, or worthy of notice. Lacking that, it would be the first thing that some editors latch onto and nominate for speedy deletion. As far as anything indepth, can I get back to you tomorrow? I am recreating the deleted pages and trying to add the things to support the subject's notability in the page. Maybe because there are many of my pages have been deleted these days, I need to recreate them using the right way ASAP to keep in line with my assignment schedule and I think that the work is a little contribution to Wikipedia, which is meaningful! Starting Over Again

I wish you have notified me first before deleting the article, i extended my effort in creating that and now i lost everything.   • I agree that it would have been preferred to merely remove the copyright violation, while retaining the other content. Unfortunately, while the majority of article was directly copied from the indicated source, it additionally contained very close paraphrasing and promotional content. Removing the copyvio and close paraphrasing would have left little content to the article, which would have then indicated that it met the guidelines for speedy deletion under the A3 or A7 criteria. Please understand that when we identify copyright violations, if the content cannot be removed while retaining non-offending copy, the process calls for deleting the content as quickly as possible. We don't ask permission from the editor that added the protected materials before deletion. We simply delete the content and inform the editor (as I did on your talk page). I certainly welcome questions. I'm more than willing to help. That said, the Wikimedia Foundation and the Wikipedia community takes copyright violation very seriously. Persistent violations generally result in a blocking or suspension of editing privileges. Nobody wants that. If you wish to create this article again, please make sure to draft it in a subpage of your userspace, making sure to write the article in your own words. Deletion of Moose Jaw City Council

I made sources from the City of Moose Jaw website and I link the list of mayors of Moose Jaw article and linked another article titled Deb Higgins (mayor of Moose Jaw). The article Moose Jaw City Council is the governing body of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in Canada. I work hard on this Moose Jaw City Council article to linking the Moose Jaw article and citation sources. Is there a possible way to talk to me and you speedy delete it by mistake.   • Thanks for contacting me, Steam5! Unfortunately, the Moose Jaw City Council article failed to indicate how the subject is significant and/or important. It was deleted in accordance with the A7 criteria for speedy deletion. It was a tossup between identifying the council as a group or organization. I suppose both define the council in some form. My first inkling was to redirect the content to another article, but I found no comparable targets. The primary content of the article was establishing the existence of the council. The only sources provided were individual profiles of each council member from the city's website. Local politicians are not considered notable just for being in politics. City councillors and other major municipal officers are not automatically notable, although precedent has tended to favor keeping members of the main citywide government of internationally prominent cities such as Toronto, New York City, or London. You can see the notability guidelines for politicians here. At this point, you may want to consider adding a brief section and overview of the council the Moose Jaw article. Cindy, it's highly unusual (some would say it should never be done) to indefinitely block an IP ([1]). It doesn't matter if they are a sock. I suggest you reduce the duration to a few months.   • Thanks for the feedback! (I changed it.) I've generally started with a block of three days and kept an eye on it. Others have opted to set a much longer block. I saw a guy on TV a while ago who had chronic migraines. The only treatment that worked for him was a periodic dose of shrooms. He actually hated the high part of it though. As for being an admin, remember if you don't make some mistakes once in a while you won't fit in with your fellow admins at all. I once batch deleted a couple hundred article talk pages from the wrong bot-generated list with Twinkle, thinking they were orphaned, and had to quickly batch restore them once I noticed what I'd done.   • There is often semantic confusion over the definition of publicity, promotion, and advertising. Mere publicity, promotion, and advertising need not reference sales or content pertaining to the quality or feasibility of the subject of the article. Simply announcing the existence of a subject, while failing to indicate how or why the subject may be important or significant would be considered inappropriate. Notability must be established and presented through reliable and independent sources before inclusion on Wikipedia can be accepted. Note that the sources provided in this article were simply personal download sites, merely serving to promote the subject. Hope this helps.   • Don't worry about contacting me. ;) It appears that Moldmark is abandoned. He never actually edited from that account. So, we have Moldmark FunkMonk, and Moldovan0731. Mark is a busy little boy. I'll keep an eye on his edits. If you see anything inappropriate, make sure to place a warning. I see quite a bit of blanking using the Moldovan0731, but it was never addressed on his talk page. Unless you count the "frivolous" warning he gave himself. And oddly enough, he's reverting the edits of one account by using the other. Weird stuff. Again, I'll keep him on my radar. A. J. Raffles Citations

Hello. I'm relatively new and could use some advice. Can you tell me what you think is wrong with the citations on the A. J. Raffles article (or point me to the relevant guideline/policy)? My understanding of the citation policy is that it is necessary for content that might be challenged or is likely to be challenged. This page is mostly about adaptations and pastiches and many include wikilinks to the pages which go into more detail about the work in question. The citations look pretty good to me (well, they could be formatted better, but the coverage looks good to me). Do you think each work needs a citation to verify its existence, for example?   • Firstly, welcome to Wikipedia! Taking a look at this article, I notice that it contains quite a bit of unverified claims, i.e., unsourced, original research. At the same time, we have citations to unreliable sources, such as IMDb and IMBb, both of which are user-generated websites. It's not enough to rely on wikilinks to support the article content. In essence, this equates to using Wikipedia as a source, but the encyclopedia is also user-generated and is therefore considered unreliable. In each article, we need to establish reliability through significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Additionally, much of this article contains inappropriate copyright violations. At the same time, content has been copied to other articles, contravening attribution. Are you going to be working to address these concerns? Let me know if you are currently working on this article.     • Thanks for the quick reply. I am working on this article. Original research? Copyright concerns? Can you give me specific examples? This surprises me because mostly I see mentions of other works and short synopses of them which explain why they are relevant to the context of Raffles. If the copyright concerns you are referring to are in regards to factualworld.com, the Help Desk determined that that site was copying Wikipedia content, not the other way around.       • Yes, I see now that other websites have extensively copied from this article. As far as citations, the general rule of thumb is to provide at least one citation for each paragraph, along with each statement of fact and as you mentioned, anything likely to be challenged. This article has entire sections that are unsourced. Original research refers to unverified claims. The tone of this article also needs editing. See WP:WEASEL and WP:PEACOCK. Deletion of Moose Jaw City Council again

Hi there, sorry to interrupt your editing, I think you speedy deleted Moose Jaw City Council by mistake again, I re-created the article and I work hard on the article with more detail and the picture of Moose Jaw City Hall, the previous council of 2009-2012 council members and a citation media source from a Moose Jaw newspaper called the Moose Jaw Times-Herald. I talk to another administrator from Canada the username is User:Bearcat to add more detail and improve the article. Because User:Bearcat has created a lot more Canadian related articles, So could you talk to User:Bearcat on why the Moose Jaw City Council article was deleted. I work hard on the article I created and I add citation source from a Moose Jaw newspaper media. You speedy deleted again and that makes me upset. I'll tell you what, could you talk to User:Bearcat and maybe User:Bearcat could create the Moose Jaw City Council article by himself. I will not be worried on myself it's just my conversation to resolve. Talk to User:Bearcat on why is my article deleted again maybe he can create Moose Jaw City Council by User:Bearcat.   • Not sure where the confusion is coming from. My response here has not changed from our previous discussion above (however brief it may have been). This article was not deleted by mistake. It was deleted in accordance with the deletion policy. What we have here is a city council, population approximately 35k. The article content was merely a list of unremarkable individuals known only for representing their town on the city council. The only sources provided encompassed election results in the local newspaper. The only content added to this second rendition was the list of the previous members of the council, supported by election results. These individuals are no more notable than the current council members. There was no assertion of significance or importance outside of mere existence. Hey with all due respect..WTF. I created a page which I was going to add more content to but I had to go to work, I come back at around 8:00 pm Pacific Time to find that the article was deleted without a warning, I would like to dispute this since you were responsible for deletion. At the same time, the article fails to establish the organization's notability in accordance with Wikipedia guidelines as presented at WP:ORG and WP:GNG. In essence, we require significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, employees, and affiliated organizations. As stated in my email, Wikipedia is not a platform for promoting your company. Information about companies and products must be written in an objective and unbiased style, free of puffery. All article topics must be verifiable with independent, third-party sources. Wikipedia is not concerned with what you or your affiliates say about you or your company. We need to see what reliable and independent mainstream publications say about you. I have spent time researching to hopefully help establish notability for this organization, but have not found any independent sources. Much of the information found equated to press releases, blogs, and affiliated organizations. I realize this is not what you want to hear, but if no independent, third-party, reliable sources can be found on a topic, then Wikipedia should not have an article on it. In essence, the article failed to assert any significance or importance of the subject. Unfortunately, I failed to indicate in the deletion rationale that the article is additionally an unambiguous copyright violation of the YPV website. Please understand that the Wikimedia Foundation and Wikipedia community takes copyright protection very seriously. Persistent contributions by editors in violation of this policy result in blocking of editing privileges. Nobody honestly wants that. It is important to use our own words when contributing to the project. On another note, I would recommend reviewing the notability guidelines for organizations. If you wish to retain this article, it would be beneficial to create a draft in a subpage of your userspace, for example, at User:Valkyrie Red/Young Progressive Voices. Creating an initial draft minimizes the chance that your article will be quickly deleted before it meets the minimum requirements for inclusion. Just remember to clearly indicate how and/or why the subject is important, verify these claims through significant coverage in reliable and independent sources, and write all content in your own words. Deletion based on copyright infringement which is a mirror of truth

Hi, I see my submission for Frivolous (musician) was deleted as well as the album article (Frivolous - "Somewhere In The Suburbs") which I uploaded to link to the page. Boomkat was sighted as having been the source of this copyright infringement, but I'd like to state that they no longer own any rights to this material, which was license by me to a record label which is now in bankruptcy. All copyrights have been returned to me, as the non-exclusive license terms had expired before they declared bankruptcy, and I wonder how I can add these releases to wikipedia now.   • Actually, you've continually removed maintenance templates without attempting to address any of the issues identified. At this point, it looks like another editor stepped in to address some of the concerns, although others remain. Did you possibly find this article in another language Wikipedia or website then try to translate it into English? Much of the grammar needs editing. The spelling of her surname is inconsistent, she is referred to as "he", there are unsourced claims (original research?), and the "notes" section appears as an attempt to communicate with readers (rather than provide encyclopedic content). Hello. You deleted this article for "Unambiguous copyright infringement." First of all, I appreciate that, since I'm the author of the page from which most of the text is taken: http://richardclem.com/historicalcases/WatteauVFenwick.html But I'm also the author of the Wikipedia article. It seems to me I ought to be able to write a Wikipedia article, even though I also wrote another page on the same topic. What's the best way for me to handle this? I do have a copyright notice on my web page. I did update it to state: "Permission is granted to reproduce the content of this page on Wikipedia." Is that adequate to resolve the problem, or do you have any other suggestions. Again, thanks for your concern with the integrity of my content. Please restore Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research

Hi! The new entry for Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research was deleted due to lack of significance (a7 criteria). Since I am not really experienced in creating Wikipedia entries, I strictly tried to create an entry according to those of the other MPIs (there are around 80 institutes). Therefore, I don´t know, why the a7 criteria. You recently deleted my entry for International Max Planck Research School for Heart and Lung Research due to "(A10: Recently created article that duplicates an existing topic: Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research". Besides the fact that the entry of the institute was also deleted (my previous talk), I would like to point out that despite the similar name they are two different institutions. The International Max Planck Research School for Heart and Lung Research is a graduate school operated by the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research as well as of the universities Giessen and Frankfurt. The school is now active for five years and we have had over 100 students yet. The entry was created according to various entries of other International Max Planck Research Schools and should therefore have a comparable impact.   • Hi Matthias! I've restored the school article and made a quick cleanup. As far as the other article, in all sincerity, I really hope the other MPI articles are not representative of this one. When we create articles, the minimum needed to keep the article from speedy deletion is a credible assertion of significance and/or importance. This article only asserted that the organization existed. When we review articles for inclusion, we need to establish notability for organizations through significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. This article only had an external link to the organization's website. Others, may have simply deleted this article outright, but I consider redirecting a lesser "evil" when there is a parent organization. It is never recommended to compare one article to another on Wikipedia. One inappropriate article does not justify another one. To forgo deletion or redirection of all the institute articles, I recommend making sure to assert significance in each one. Are there any verifiable honors or awards received? Supported by independent sources? Take a look at the notability guidelines at WP:ORG. These should give you an idea of what we're looking for. I also recommend that you review the conflict of interest guidelines due to your connection with the organization. Hi, Cindy. Thanks for your feedback and comments on my recent AFD nominations. I was not previously familiar with the GNG so thank you for bringing this to my attention. I merely began nominating as I noticed that some tenuously notable aristocratic biographies had been deleted via AFD previously. I'll let the current crop of AFDs run their course and see what the consensus is. It may be that some are seen to pass GNG and are thus kept, however for others such as Charles McLaren, 4th Baron Aberconway, the case seems weaker. Thanks again.
