I Wish I Was An Astronaut is a Cinethrast 4 peice band based in South
East London and first founded by Dann Marc and Mike Barrnet
History
[edit]
I Wish I Was An Astronaut started under the name of OpenSkydrive in
late 2006 with Dann Marc on Lead Guitar, Marie on Keyboard and
Michael Barrnet on drums, a month or so after Marie decided to leave
because of disagreements leaving just Mike and Dann, after this they
decided to look for more members to make it a full band but before they
had found anyone Mike also decided to leave, that same night Dann went
out and found a lead guitarist Chris Habayeb, Drummer John Hills and
bassist Sam Thompson.
But after a couple of weeks Sam didn’t seem to be into the band so they
went out looking for a new bassist, Dann decided to ask Mike Barrent to
instead of playing drums, to play bass and he agreed, after a couple of
jams Mike said he didn’t like playing bass and wished to play something
else in the band, seeing as Mike was an amazing drummer they decided
to let John go and let Mike drum again.
They were still looking for a bassist but on April 9th 07 at a band
practise, even though there was a lot of songs made, they made a song as
with everyone’s input called "On The Radio" and later that night after
having a vote they changed there name to "I Wish I Was An Astronaut".
soon after Dann asked a friend Callum who is in a band called "Fist Fights
At Midnight" and was not sure if he should or not but he decided to join them.
After a couple of weeks they decided to try getting a singer and Dann
asked a old friend of him and Mike ,Sam, After hearing a demo that they
had made same jumped on board straight away and soon as he could
but then later left to do his own thing.
Chris was going to leave after sept but because of miss communication
Chris left early leaving an old friend of Dann's, Laurence and almost
as soon as Laurence joined the band started to flurish
