In that order:

  • Template:TFAempty
  • Yes it is true, but it is NOT the same a that a , and in English Wikipedia we only put FEATURED ARTICLES as the FEATURED ARTICLE of the day.
  • Yes, it is, this image is copyrighted and it must not be used outside its article
  • The problem is that even if you want this to be a featured article, you have never edited this article and I really doubt you want to contact main editors to make it one
  • Obviously, you didn't care. But just because you don't see it disruptive, it is not disruptive. Continue with this and you may be blocked from editing. Tbhotch* ۩ ۞ 05:06, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi, Cowik, I just thought I'd let you know that the day's featured article is chosen by the FA Director, Raul654 (talk · contribs) and it has to be a featured article that hasn't yet been on the Main Page. If you know of an article that meets those two criteria, you can suggest it at WP:TFAR, but it's usually a good idea to consult the article's regualr editors before you do. NIN Songs[edit]

I redirected the following articles: Corona Radiata (song), Echoplex (song), 999,999 (song), Head Down (song)

The main reason why I redirected these articles was because the songs themselves show no notability. A notable song would include songs that has received awards, has charted in a national music chart, or received coverage from reliable sources (for example, news coverage, music reviews can help with notability). The information you put into the articles can be considered as original research, which is information without any form of source backing up your info. This type of information is highly avoided, since any person can include unreliable information about the specific article.

The album in which the songs have been released has one notable song, which was Discipline (Nine Inch Nails song), because it charted on a music chart (Billboard) and has received coverage from many sources (ex. New York Times, Allmusic, IGN). If you are able to provide coverage from reliable sources (the Nine Inch Nails wiki page is not considered reliable, since anyone can edit it too), then the pages can remain to be up. Any further questions, feel free to ask me or any other administrator to help you out. Thank you. --Esanchez(Talk 2 me or Sign here) 03:12, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Featured Picture of the Day[edit]

Hi Cowik, I've deleted your creation of the featured picture for 30 May as the image you selected wasn't a featured picture. Featured pictures are nominated at featured picture candidates and they have to be promoted from that discussion before they are eligible to be put on the Main Page. Much like the Featured Article discussion above, additions to the main page are usually done by specific editors who have experience with editing these templates. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to leave them at my talkpage. Thanks, Woody (talk) 11:19, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Featured content[edit]

Cowik, you previously nominated an article at TFA that was not a Featured article,[1] and you've done the same today, with Spanish Civil War. [2] I see Woody has mentioned above that you have done the same with Featured pictures. I also see that on both occasions at TFA, you edit warred with editors who understand the rules for nominating a TFA, reinstating the TFA request even after your requests were removed. I also see that Tbhotch and HJ Mitchell explained this to you, on your talk page, in the past. Please stop nominating non-featured content for the mainpage, or you could be blocked from editing for disruption. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 04:00, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In addition to reading the rules for nominating an article at WP:TFA, please review WP:3RR and refrain from edit warring, or you could be blocked. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 04:07, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I see you're also adding content copied from other (non-reliable) sources;[3] [4] please read WP:V, WP:RS and WP:COPYVIO. You should always discuss your edits with other editors before reverting to re-add text, to make sure you understand Wikipedia policies. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 04:20, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it must be substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{substituted}}</noinclude>).

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:SPMovieBluRay.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 11:49, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of Terri Schiavo case[edit]

The article Terri Schiavo case you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:Terri Schiavo case for things which need to be addressed. Rites of Spring image in emo article[edit]

Hi. Because the Rites of Spring image is non-free, it is subject to our non-free content criteria. Criterion 8 is "Contextual significance. Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding." The importance of Rites of Spring to emo, as discussed in the article, is their music and lyrics. A picture of them does not help to increase understanding of those aspects, and omitting the picture doesn't hinder readers' understanding of these aspects. Since the image is non-free, its use in such a fashion fails criterion 8.

Also relevant is criterion 3a: "Minimal usage. Multiple items of non-free content are not used if one item can convey equivalent significant information." We already have, in the same section, an audio sample of one of RoS' songs. This does a much better job of enhancing readers' understanding of the band's musical style and lyrics than a still picture of them does. Since we already have 1 item of non-free content related to RoS, which conveys even more significant information than a picture, a second item of non-free content (the picture) that doesn't even convey equivalent significant info fails criterion 3a. I would be happy to discuss this further on the article's talk page, if you wish. --IllaZilla (talk) 20:20, 27 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Dredd-movie-poster.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. Replaceable fair use File:Marv-albert.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Marv-albert.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. VernoWhitney (talk) 19:55, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
