Hello, Cwhissen. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people or things you have written about in the article MaxxCAT Corporation, be careful. Thank you for notifying me that my posts were not in keeping with the guidelines and my apologies for the disruption. After reading through the links you sent me, I see a different process I should have used to submit the article. My apologies, the whole thing is a little overwhelming to a new user and I followed the wrong process.

That said, I was very careful to make sure this is the type of information useful for the encyclopedia by reading every related entry I could find, including Thunderstone_Software, AskMeNow, Fabasoft_Mindbreeze and many others. I also worked hard to keep it just facts - provable facts. In this I disagree with your reasons for deletion. For our corporation page, you listed A7 - which specifically does NOT apply to software - we create software. For our other two you listed G11, which includes the note:An article about a company or a product which describes its subject from a neutral point of view does not qualify for this criterion. I thought I had included a neutral description, though you obviously feel that's not the case. I also realized a couple of things I did wrong in the citations(should only link to main company page) which I can easily rectify.

I feel we meet the notability requirements of Wikipedia and would like to see information about our company on the encyclopedia. Obviously, my language did not meet your standards and I had not read the COI best Practices. I would like to rework the articles following those practice. Is there any way for me to retrieve the work I did last week so I can do it properly?

Again, apologies for not understanding the process. Thank you for the helpful links and for giving your time to keep Wikipedia useful.

A7 very specifically applies to corporations and other organizations. G11 applies to promotional "articles"; one of the ways to detect such articles is that they do not contain any links to independent, neutral point-of-view content from reliable sources, but instead contain "references" that are sourced to press releases and other promotional material.

My goal is to add to the comprehensiveness of the encyclopedia. I learned about the field I'm in this past summer, primarily from references that originate on Wikipedia: search appliance, enterprise search, etc. Those references are incomplete as they do not provide the full information: the list of companies within the field is incomplete. My goal is to rectify that shortcoming and give something back to the resource that I used.

I do not dispute that I did not fully understand how to accomplish this goal, nor do I deny that my articles as written were not properly submitted or likely not cited properly - I believe I only included sparse independent links. I understand the issues with these articles now and that they should have been submitted in such a way that editors could have jumped on the issues before it went live. Your link to the best practices information was very helpful in figuring out the proper way to do things in the future.

The immediate deletion of the articles has prevented me from addressing any concerns or seeing what I did so I can avoid the same mistakes. I am asking you if there's a way to retrieve what I have already done so I can do things properly. As you are the administrator who deleted it, it is my understanding that you would be able to tell me how to access those articles. If I am incorrect, please let me know.

OrangeMike - I found where to request userification of the article, which is what I believe I need to get the articles into my sandbox so I can edit them. Unless I'm mistaken about that, and please let me know, I don't think I need to bother you anymore right now.

I'm sorry you feel the article was spam, but I was sincerely attempting to complete the entry for our small industry. I have already acknowledged that I was ignorant of the proper procedure and was hoping to do it properly. Nowhere does it prohibit me from writing my companies entry - it is merely discouraged. Now that I know the procedure, I would have added my affiliation to my user page first, then submitted an article to be reviewed. At that time, it would have been rightly out of my hands. However, my many years of training and practice as a journalist does make me qualified for a neutral article now that I more fully understand what is required. Previously, I merely used the existing articles as guide lines, not realizing that those existing articles are in violation of policy.

Perhaps you are right and MaxxCAT is not notable enough - I can easily list 5 independent sources that have listed it as one of the few competitors to Google, but some are blogs and perhaps not considered notable? I couldn't figure out how to fit those naturally into a short article, so left them out before. I would still have the work back rather than wasted if at all possible. I've added a request for emailing the articles under your response to my userfy request.

I would ask you administrators to have patience. You seem to forget that you breathe wikipedia. For a first time editor this is a new and daunting experience, as well as a learning process that's easy to mess up. I've been reluctant to edit any entries for this very reason. That and the fact that everything I know about is either extremely esoteric or already covered in great detail on here.

Thank you. I have read through the links and I can see your points. It's a little hard to accept at first, but I'm going to focus my editing outside my COI area. I'm determined now to participate in WikiPedia and clean it up - just not where MaxxCAT is concerned. If we get enough notability that someone else writes an article, I will check it for errors and follow the procedure to have someone else take a look and take action.
