Advice about an article[edit]

Hi Cyclonenim, could you give me some advice about this article, Midwifery in Maya society? Should it be made into a section in another article? And how do you think it can be fixed to seem less like a research paper? Thanks! --Ships at a Distance (talk) 05:40, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on User talk:Lunamusik, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because User talk:Lunamusik is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting User talk:Lunamusik, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. You got a thank you card![edit]

Adminship[edit]

Hi, Cyclonenim. I know that you already applied twice, unsuccessfully. I reckon that you should leave it another couple of months, then re-apply. I would be happy to nominate you. Please let me know. Best wishes. Axl ¤ [Talk] 18:01, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA[edit]

Hello Cyclonenim. Thank you very much for your support in my recent Request for Adminship, which was successful with 111 supports, 0 opposes, and 0 neutral. Your input on WPDERM wanted at TfD[edit]

Since the speedy was declined for {{WPDERM}}, I've listed it at TfD. Your input, as one of the authors, is particularly wanted there. WhatamIdoing (talk) 01:59, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Neurology[edit]

I notice that WikiProject Neurology is not a very active project. It might be better if it was turned into a taskforce belonging to WPMED. Whaddayathink? Would need a bit of work, though... JFW | T@lk 01:03, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What do you think; I wrote this proposal in the medicine wikiproject: Would it be a good idea to create a combined task force of Neurology and neuroscience? The Wikiproject Neurosciences has been death for a long time (I think that no editions for more than a year). The aims and themes of both fields are really close and hopefully combined they will atract more contributors.--Garrondo (talk) 10:19, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Neither do I. Maybe will have to ask for help. We will also have to ask people in the neurosciences project.--Garrondo (talk) 10:30, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

User notice npa-2[edit]

Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Note that continued personal attacks will lead to blocks for disruption. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. --Mihai cartoaje (talk) 03:46, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I believe this warning is strictly inappropriate. I have made no personal attacks on anyone and this user has a conflict of interest with me in the cases involving Jfdwolff (talk · contribs) and his adminship. Feel free to ask me for more details but this is not a valid warning. —Cyclonenim (talk · contribs · email) 10:49, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would prefer an Oreo, but oh well. Looking forward to looking with you on some future project. Erik the Red 2 ~~~~ 22:16, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Cyclo, nice to see you. I currently have the above article at GAN. I was wondering if you could possibly give it a copy edit for style, spelling and grammar before the GA reviewer comes around. It hasn't had the luxury of a second set of eyes, something I feel it needs. Would be delighted with any help you can offer. — Realist2 22:23, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your help with dermatology[edit]

Also, what do you think of my proposed categories for dermatology? I want some constructive criticism before I put time into categorizing everything. Kilbad (talk) 15:57, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I updated the catagories/subcatagories list... what do you think of it now?

Categorization of dermatology articles[edit]

Do you think you could get a few more people to review our discussion on the categorization of dermatology articles? I realize the categorization scheme can be changed in the future, but I would like to get some more feedback before I start categorizing articles based on the current proposed tree. Also, I am almost ready to update the skin disease article with a complete list of all dermatologic diseases, and would like to have category headings on that page that closely mirror the categorization scheme we all finally decide on through our discussion on the medicine talk page. What do you think? Thanks. Kilbad (talk) 14:32, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Some advice about improving articles?[edit]

Hi Cyclonenim, I would really like to make some more worthwhile contributions to Wikipedia and try to contribute to bringing an article to good article or featured article status. I feel really overwhelmed though. Could you give me some advice? Two articles I'm particularly interested in working on are Narwhal and Menstruation. --Ships at a Distance (talk) 05:39, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well for the menstruation article, it seems like it's already pretty comprehensive and authoritative, but it's rated C-class, so I would really like to help make it a better article. Should I try to just add more information, and if so, what kind of information do you think is missing from that article? --Ships at a Distance (talk) 18:37, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:WikiProject Neurology articles, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:WikiProject Neurology articles has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:WikiProject Neurology articles, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. a request for RfC "assessment"[edit]

hello Cyclonenim - i found you on the "highly active users" list, where an admin (User:SoWhy) directed me in my search for an impartial outsider to see whether it's time to close the RfC on Talk:Papa Dee. if you have time, could you have a look at it? i entered that RfC as an impartial outsider, and helped three editors of the six involved in the dispute reach an agreement; two of the others have been active on wikipedia during the discussion so i feel their silence implies consent; the other remaining editor in the original dispute may or may not be happy with the proposed "compromise solution". but since that "compromise solution" has been implemented, perhaps it's time to a] close the RfC and b] "preserve" the discussion of it by placing {{discussion-top}} and {{discussion-bottom}} on it. if you could look at it and take both of those steps - if you think they're appropriate - or let us know if you think the discussion should be kept open, that would be very cool. it's maybe a bit over the top to feel a need for another impartial outsider to do this, but the discussion's been a bit "barrister-like" in tone so ... so here i am being over the top. 8) thanks weird weird weird, the tildes don't work! i'm Sssoul (and i'll watch for your response here on your talk page)

Hey Sssoul (talk · contribs). The discussion seems fairly concluded, I haven't had a chance to read the whole discussion because it's quite lengthy, so I'm going upon the last few comments where everyone seems to be in agreement. I'll add the discussion end tags and close the RfC. Oh, and the reason your tildes aren't working is because you didn't close the nowiki tags around the above discussion templates. I've done so. —Cyclonenim (talk · contribs · email) 20:38, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
ah so - that's what i get for being clever with the nowikis! thanks very much for taking an interest and for doing the deed on that RfC. swing on ... Sssoul (talk) 20:45, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not a problem. Don't hesitate if you need anything else. —Cyclonenim (talk · contribs · email) 21:10, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
