Disambiguation link notification for January 17[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Torino F.C., you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hungarian. Introductions[edit]

Hello DTORINO, dal Portogallo,

we don't write leagues in introductions of player's articles, if an Italian player plays for an Italian club we write "...who plays for X club as a...", if it's a foreigner we write "...who plays for Italian X club as a...". And we write "club", not "side".

Also, names should appear in full in storyline (example TORINO FC), compression is for box, please.

Grazie, ciao --84.90.219.128 (talk) 17:16, 17 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • PLEASE, when the player plays in a foreign country, like Alexander Farnerud, we write the country of the club in the introduction, please! And (and you can ask any editor to see if I'm lying) we don't write about every goal a player scores in a season, it's called WP:OVERDETAIL. And why did you revert my (correct) stats update in his box?

Thank you (if we continue reverting each other, we can both be blocked for edit warring). --84.90.219.128 (talk) 23:22, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • OK, and thanks for the quick reply. However, in situations like the one you point out, we must pipe ALL the clubs, not just the Italians. I have already taken care of that, happy work --84.90.219.128 (talk) 00:27, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Attributing translations[edit]

Hello, Danieletorino2. Thank you for adding this to the article, but the more important part of legal attribution is putting a note in the edit summary, preferably when you place the content on Wikipedia. Our history must accurately reflect the authorship of articles. See Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia for more. I have now done this in the edit summary of that article, but for all future translations please remember this essential step. See [1] for how it was handled here. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:34, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Professional[edit]

It's not in Ronaldo's article until the history section and WP:NFOOTY precludes us from creating articles on anything but professional footballers. It's redundant to list it. Walter Görlitz (talk) 03:16, 17 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, GOIH (born 5 February 1985), known as Cristiano Ronaldo (Portuguese pronunciation: [kɾɨʃtiˈɐnu ʁuˈnaɫdu], is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays for Spanish club Real Madrid C.F. and the Portugal national team. He is a forward and serves as captain for Portugal.
You reverted it on Messi's page recently. While I agree with you, shouldn't ALL of the footballer articles be changed then?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Danieletorino2 (talkcontribs) 03:33, 17 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
And your point is what exactly? Did you read my argument and WP:OSE? Walter Görlitz (talk) 03:42, 17 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Shouldn't the introductions be uniform? I mean, if Immobile's introduction does not include "professional", then we should have to change it on all of the other footballer bios.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Danieletorino2 (talkcontribs) 03:33, 17 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
They should be, but they're not. The problem is that the editors of the Football Project can't agree on what should be in the opening paragraph. I've tried to get them to discuss it at least twice, but they see trying to apply it as futile and so they refuse to discuss a standard. So we must fall back on WP:OPENPARA and possibly MOS:BIO.
For every article that has "professional" that you find, I can show you at least ten that do not. Its absence is by far more common. Look at the articles of a few teams and click through the rosters to see the non-uniformity.
So there's no point in pointing to one article or another that says "here's how it should be" because there are so many inconsistencies. Walter Görlitz (talk) 04:09, 17 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Okay I was unaware about the football project issue. I agree that "professional" is redundant and wouldn't apply to footballers before the 1950s as they were not "professionals" in the sense they are today. So they should just be "footballers".— Preceding unsigned comment added by Danieletorino2 (talkcontribs) 03:33, 17 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ciao[edit]

Ciao, Daniele! Anche tu sei italiano allora?

Australian born, but my family is all from Italy mate.--Danieletorino2 (talk) 04:37, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, cool! Beautiful country. So from your name, you're a Torino fan I presume?

Yeah, the only one in my country haha. how about you?--Danieletorino2 (talk) 05:37, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Haha, awesome, good for you. I hope they can become strong again, and that Italian football in general reaches the level it was at in the 90s. I'm actually a Juve fan...(hope this news doesn't affect your opinion of me, hahah) mainly because I adored Roberto Baggio when I was young, but one of my good friends is also a Torino fan, and we've gone to the Derby della Mole together once!

Haha bellisimo. My best friend is gobbo so it does not matter. I hope for a beautiful derby this weekend. Ciao! Danieletorino2 (talk) 13:25, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I hope it will be a good match! All the best! Messirulez (talk) 02:24, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

che spettacolo!! Danieletorino2 (talk) 01:36, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ciao ancora, Daniele! Come va? Firstly, thanks for all your great work in helping me clean up the articles on Italian footballers, and also for adding images to the articles. I was wondering, I'm still a bit unsure, when it comes to adding images, about how to do it, and which are acceptable or not; do you think, if you possibly had time, you might be able to help me out by adding some photos to the English Roberto Baggio article from the Italian one? I think maybe the ones of him volleying with Vicenza, the one of him sprinting with Fiorentina, the ones with the UEFA Cup and the Pallone d'Oro with Juve, and the one at Italia 90 should suffice. Again, only if this isn't too much trouble, if you would be willing to, and what you can! Grazie mille, un saluto, ciao!

Its very easy to do mate if you use the commons tool: https://tools.wmflabs.org/commonshelper/?
Just find the image on the Italian wikipedia like I do, copy the name of the image into that website and it does all the work for you. Ciao! Danieletorino2 (talk) 04:53, 4 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Grazie mille, looks great, ciao! :) Messirulez (talk) 11:28, 4 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thiago Motta - Reply[edit]

Hello DT, from Portugal,

about the player position part, I agree, he is a versatile midfielder. About the nationality, no (you can ask anyone here to see if I'm lying https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football), we either insert the last nationality (in Motta's case Italian) or none at all ("...is a FOOTBALLER who plays for...").

Enjoy the rest of your weekend --Be Quiet AL (talk) 18:23, 11 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Have just made some amendments to the intro, per my explanation, and also reinstated your suggestion (only "midfielder"). However, am a little disappointed in your "Any changes will be considered vandalism" comment. I have already started a discussion at WP:FOOTY. Ah, and another reason to show it's not needed to say "...is an Brazilian-born Italian footballer who...", because in the end of the intro it says "Born in BRAZIL...". --Be Quiet AL (talk) 18:47, 11 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This is the same editor that removed Italian youth titles from Bryan Cristante's honours (despite every other player having them) because they were "not notable enough". Ciro Immobile[edit]

I opened a new section on his talk page in regards to the youth tournament wins with Juventus. The gist of it is that basically, we typically dont list youth team honours on here but if we do, we make the distinction between them and senior honours as they are not the same associated teams and to avoid confusion with senior honours for readers not from the relevant country that could confuse the status of the tournaments. If you would prefer a different name for the distinction, please do let me know. But the distinction should still be there. Davefelmer (talk) 23:08, 15 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox timestamps[edit]

Hello, I'm Mattythewhite. Welcome to Wikipedia! I just wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions were not quite right. When updating statistics within the infobox of a footballer, please make sure you update the timestamp at the same time, so that both readers and fellow editors know when the information was last updated.

You can do this by replacing the existing timestamp within the |club-update= or |pcupdate= parameter for club stats, or the |nationalteam-update= or |ntupdate= parameter for international stats. For articles that use a DMY date format, use five tildes (~~~~~), or for MDY dates, use {{subst:mdytime}}. This will generate the specific time the update was made.

If you have any questions about this, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you, Mattythewhite (talk) 17:42, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
