Welcome to Wikipedia![edit]

Dear Dave Favis-Mortlock: Welcome to Wikipedia, a free and open-content encyclopedia. I hope you enjoy contributing. To help get you settled in, I thought you might find the following pages useful:

Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Wikipedians try to follow a strict policy of never biting new users. If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advice: please sign any dicussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). The software will automatically convert this into your signature which can be altered in the "Preferences" tab at the top of the screen. I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself and be BOLD! -- Paleorthid

Link spamming[edit]

I reverted your contribution of an external link to multiple articles and redirect pages. I hope this doesn't come as too much of a shock, but, as informative as your web site is, your method of linking to it is considered link spamming and it is highly discouraged. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links to the encyclopedia and reference your site when fitting. See the welcome page to learn more. I have reverted these initial contributions but hope you can stick around and get to know the place. -- Paleorthid 01:12, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

I'll take back part of what I just wrote. Even with that weasle-y qualifier, it was misleading at best. Best to keep it simple. Apologies. -- Paleorthid 01:28, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

Your bio[edit]

I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Dave_Favis-Mortlock, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Importance). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the issues raised at Talk:Dave_Favis-Mortlock. If you remove the {{dated prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Invitatious (talkcontribs) 15:27, 24 May 2006.

I'll chime in here in support of Invitatious's advice. Notability is needed to retain the article. Evidence in support of notability (tally of google search results, etc.) is needed on the talk page. See WP:BIO for how this is handled. Hope this helps. -- Paleorthid 00:37, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

Regarding the page Dave Favis-Mortlock:[edit]

AfD Nomination: Dave Favis-Mortlock[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but all Wikipedia articles must meet our criteria for inclusion (see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Since it does not seem to me that Dave Favis-Mortlock meets these criteria, I have started a discussion about whether this article should be kept or deleted.

Your opinion on whether this article meets the inclusion criteria is welcome. Please contribute to the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dave Favis-Mortlock. Don't forget to add four tildes (<nowiki>TeckWizBot 15:42, 3 April 2007 (UTC)</nowiki>) at the end of each of your comments to sign them.

Discussions such as these usually last five days. In the meantime, you are free to edit the content of the article. Please do not remove the "articles for deletion" template (the box at the top). When the discussion has concluded, an administrator will consider all comments and decide whether or not to delete the article. Invitatious 03:09, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject Soil[edit]

I am pretty sure this project will interest you. You are needed. Cheers! -- Paleorthid 06:49, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Graeme Hobbs[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Graeme Hobbs, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Unsourced, fails WP:BIO

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. —Snigbrook 22:47, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

MfD nomination of User:Dave Favis-Mortlock[edit]

User:Dave Favis-Mortlock, a page you substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Dave Favis-Mortlock and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of User:Dave Favis-Mortlock during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. PleaseStand (talk) 00:38, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Eroding rill in field in eastern Germany.jpg[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

Thanks for uploading File:Eroding rill in field in eastern Germany.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 14:02, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Fourth Monkey Theatre Company logo.png[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Fourth Monkey Theatre Company logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 18:49, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for August 2[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
