Disambiguation link notification for December 12[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Carroll A. Edson, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Lenni (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Anti Fekas NBA[edit]

Is a page that is not targeting any living person. Is an information only page created to let fans know where they can talk about NBA, is mostly Spanish but English is speak in the room. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hplanteny (talkcontribs) 05:56, 13 December 2012 (UTC)

Hey. Even if it was not an attack page (which may have just been the language differences), it still did not meet the notability guidelines. Check WP:WEB for information on how to prove it is notable enough. Also, since this is the English Wikipedia, all articles do have to be in English. Good luck! Can I get the information that I posted on the page so I can open a Spanish Wikipedia page with the information to direct people. The page was in Spanish, maybe that is the reason why it was delete. Thanks for your promptly action. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hplanteny (talkcontribs) 06:09, 13 December 2012 (UTC)

I'm not an administrator so I don't have access to that, I was just the editor who tagged it. Diannaa (talk · contribs) is the administrator who deleted the page and would be the one to contact about that. Deflagro (talk) 06:15, 13 December 2012 (UTC)

You did a good job on Grass Dance. Any interest in doing something on the Chicken Dance? It's a "new" old dance, fair amount of YouTube videos on it, but not to be confused with the goofy Funky chicken, which is sometimes called the "Chicken Dance" though is something entirely different and unrelated to the Native American version. We could probably stand to see some improvements on the other pow-wow articles, but of course, cultural sensitivity is required; you seem to have a good touch, though. Thanks! I plan on working on articles for most of the major pow wow dance styles. I'm not as familiar with Chicken Dance, but I've seen it once or twice and seen some videos on it. I'm most familiar with grass so that's why I started on that one. I'm probably gonna leave that one for the last men's style to write and do Traditional and Straight first, but I'll definitely work on it. Deflagro (talk) 03:14, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
Have you joined Wikipedia:WikiProject Indigenous peoples of North America? If not, I'd encourage you to do so, some good folks there. BTW, I have quite a few shots of traditional dancers uploaded at Commons, one set here, two sets here (Plus whoever hits the Seafair one gets some nice photos), not always excellent technical quality (Some better than others; had a decent point and shoot at Spokane and it was outside, the inside ones a bit harder to get good light except when flash allowed. Arlee powwow I only had my cell phone camera, darn) but usually good enough for a decent thumbnail sized image that shows what is needed. "Straight"? Dance? Hmm. That one is new terminology to me, but then (as the user name indicates) I'm mostly familiar with Montana and the surrounding area (and BTW and FYI, I'm not Native, just a white ally who tries to have respect and not be a "culture vulture" or a wannabee (grin)). My cursory review of sources indicates that the Chicken Dance is actually a relatively new one to powwow competition, though appears to have traditional roots with the Blackfeet. I don't recall seeing it at anything I attended in the 80s (though I don't watch a lot of powwows, 1-2 a year if that, and am certainly not any sort of expert) So far, I mostly babysit the existing articles on my watchlist (pow wow, jingle dress, fancy dance, etc... ) and remove the serious garbage when it shows up. There is a need for some good WP:CITEs and a move to GA, but it's so tricky to handle the Native American topics because cultural understanding is so critical, the most reliable sources aren't necessarily on the net, and even many sources that superficially appear to pass WP:RS are actually utter crap; the articles really are better off a bit sparse than to have to remove too much nonsense. I'll be glad to help as I can. Montanabw(talk) 19:57, 16 December 2012 (UTC)
