Edit summaries

Hello, my friend. Thank you for the great edits. You are a fine asset over on this of the project. Please, don't forget the edit summaries. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:28, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your feedback, Anna! I take your reminder (for me to add summaries, you are absolutely right, sorry) as an encouragement to do more edits :) Note that I am not an expert. Though, I add those places in Geonames. For instance, Bo'ao railway station on Geonames. And I try to reach consistency across IATA, Geonames, Google Maps and Wikipedia. The railway stations, which I have added onto Geonames, may be wrongly located, for some of them, as the (Google Maps) satellite images are pretty old already. So, if you know for sure where those railway stations are located, do not hesitate to fix the corresponding coordinates. Anyway, many many thanks for your great edits! Cheers -- Denis.arnaud (talk) 22:38, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for December 9, 2012

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited High-speed rail in Spain, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Vitoria (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Narsaq Kujalleq Heliport

When changing the name of an article you need to move it rather than copy paste it, Wikipedia:Moving a page#Page histories, so that the history is kept intact. As long as the new title does not exist or is a redirect with only the one edit then the old page can be moved. If the redirect has been edited then you need to get an admin to do. I got the Narsaq Kujalleq Heliport fixed. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (talk) 07:25, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for having spotted that!
Indeed, I swapped both pages, i.e., Narsaq Kujalleq Heliport and Narsarmijit Heliport (I did the same for Narsaq Kujalleq and Narsarmijit). So, in that case, I do not know how to keep the history attached to the corresponding page... but I am keen to learn how to do it :) -- Denis.arnaud (talk) 19:13, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
In case some editors would like to challenge the swap, I gathered from official Web sites, referenced in the articles themselves, that the most common used English name is Narsaq Kujalleq, rather than Narsarmijit: Air Greenland booking Web site, Location details for Narsaq Kujalleq (PDF file) by the Danish Transport Authority -- Denis.arnaud (talk) 19:13, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
I moved that across too. It's pretty easy to do. There should be some tabs at the top of each page. Just look at them and if there is one called "Page". Hover the mouse over it and there should be a link to move the page. Usually you will just want the default options and that's all there is to it. If when you click on the move button it won't work it means the target page has had more than one edit. In that case you need to et an administrator to move it for you. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (talk) 18:38, 11 December 2012 (UTC)
Yes, I of course know about the "Move" feature of a page. It translates into Special:MovePage/The_Page_To_Be_Moved . What I missed, but now clearly understand, is the way to do a swap, i.e., when the target page already exists. The way you did it works: first, delete the page having got the target name, then move the page to the target name, then re-create the original page with a simple REDIRECT. Easy, clean and efficient. Thanks! -- Denis.arnaud (talk) 19:01, 11 December 2012 (UTC)

Please note that there is already an article about Myrhorod Air Base. As the airport code are the same, the articles should be merged.--FoxyOrange (talk) 10:06, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Done. (It's now a redirect).--FoxyOrange (talk) 10:11, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Alborz Province

Hi, you removed the Alborz Province, Iran (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=ISO_3166-2:IR&oldid=562382294&diff=prev). However, that province exists, and is missing from the ISO region list. So, I do not understand your removal -- Denis.arnaud (talk) 12:15, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

There is no source on what is the ISO code of Alborz Province. From the introduction: "Currently for Iran, ISO 3166-2 codes are defined for 30 provinces. Alborz Province, created in 2010, is not listed." ISO has yet to issue an update that assigns a code to the province (as far as I know from the sources I find). Also, previously "09 was used by the dissolved Khorāsān Province". -- Chanheigeorge (talk) 13:04, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
Ok, you are absolutely right: my mistake... Thanks, and sorry for the disturbance! -- Denis.arnaud (talk) 13:17, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

Mould Bay Airport

Hi. Mould Bay is listed as an abandoned aerodrome in the current Canada Flight Supplement. A quick way to check them is to use {{Can-arpt-wx}} with the four letter ICAO or TC LID code. You can also use http://www.flightplanning.navcanada.ca/cgi-bin/Fore-obs/metar.cgi?NoSession=NS_Inconnu&format=raw&Langue=anglais&Region=can&Stations=CYMD and just change the last four letters. If the place exists then you will either get weather or that no current weather is available. If the place does not exist then it will tell you that as well. If you don't know the code then go here and click on METAR/TAF and in the next screen use the right box to look for the code. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (talk) 21:21, 17 August 2013 (UTC)

Thanks!
Note that, however, IATA (see their code search page) still references that airport, and that they notified about an update in their last "LIWG Notif" publication (bulletin giving updates on IATA Location Identifier (LI)), namely the #49: they notified that the airport is not in the Nunavut region, but rather in the Northwest Territories (!)
If you would like to have an access to the IATA bulletins, just drop me an email (I am easy to find on any social network) -- Denis.arnaud (talk) 22:32, 17 August 2013 (UTC)

Tasu Water Aerodrome

I have a copy of the current, valid 7 March 2013 until 3 April 2014, Water Aerodrome Supplement (I'm slowly going through it and updating all the aerodromes) and couldn't find it listed there. Also I went to Nav Canada and clicked on the both the NOTAM and weather tabs and in the aerodrome search box entered Tasu but got "No location corresponds to your entry." Also I noticed that Tasu, British Columbia is listed as a defunct mine site.

It's a bit similar to the Sechelt/Porpoise Bay Water Aerodrome discussion that I had with another editor. The aerodrome is listed by Nav Canada as abandoned, I assume because Fisheries and Oceans don't want the responsibility, but the are is still busy with aircraft. Tasu Water Aerodrome could be the same in that the Nav Canada version of the airport is defunct but there may still be planes landing there.

This got me wondering about other airports listed on Wikipedia defunct and that have/had an IATA code. I looked at all the "list of airports in province" articles and got 14 airports. Telegraph Creek Airport (YTX) and Mould Bay Airport (YMD) have the same codes on Wikipedia and at the Airline and Airport Code Search. Arnes Airport, Killaloe/Bonnechere Airport, Lac Gagnon Water Aerodrome, Cartierville Airport, Naval Station Argentia, Saglek Airport, Lupin Airport and Nanisivik Airport have codes here but nothing at the IATA site. The last one Terrace Bay Airport has the code YTJ here but at the IATA site it has TCY. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (talk) 01:47, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

Guyuan Liupanshan Airport

Thanks for adding the coords for Guyuan Liupanshan Airport (and for many other airports that you did before). However, the coords for Guyuan are clearly wrong, as the airport now shows up on the map hundreds of miles from Ningxia. Could you please correct them? Thanks! -Zanhe (talk) 19:59, 24 November 2013 (UTC)

Many thanks for the heads up, and for having created the page in the first place! I have now fixed the coordinates, I believe, but do not hesitate to tell me if I still miss something. By the way, as I am just a beginner in Chinese, it is highly probable that I have done other errors here and there. Do not hesitate to tell me wherever I am wrong. Thanks again for all your edits! -- Denis.arnaud (talk) 20:35, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for fixing the coords. And all the Chinese (both simplified and traditional characters) you've added to various articles has been flawless. I honestly thought you were a Chinese speaker, in spite of your username. Thanks again for your contributions! -Zanhe (talk) 23:42, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for your encouragement! Taking care of transport-related POR (points of reference), and in particular airports, railway and bus stations, is a good motivation to (begin to) learn Chinese :) -- Denis.arnaud (talk) 07:23, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
