Why did you undo my edit of "death is coming"? This is actually used by practicing pathologists. I believe it adds value to the topic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kganjam (talkcontribs) 03:37, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

If you can locate a reliable source that verifies it's used that way, by all means add it. ... discospinster talk 11:14, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

A barnstar for you![edit]

Administrator Barnstar Hires.png The Admin's Barnstar
Thank you for helping out at Malik Shabazz. I don't know what it was all about, and don't care much. I just appreciate your efforts. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 03:03, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. It was just your garden variety anon freakout. ... discospinster talk 03:04, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
Yes, but it is our much-derided team of administrators that prevents invasive weeds from obliterating the garden. Please know that many of those of us without the mop, who sincerely try to improve this encyclopedia, appreciate the special work that you and most other admins do. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 03:13, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

you removed my link[edit]

Hi, You removed my link from the air freshener page citing external link inappropriate for encyclopedia, but there is already an external link to a commercial air freshener vendor on that page. Not sure why it's ok for them, but not Air Delights?

Since Air Delights has been a valuable resource online for over 20 years in the air freshener business, I thought a link to our company would be appropriate.

Thank you, Steve Bronson — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 15:33, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

I have removed the other commercial links as well. It's not appropriate to advertise specific places to purchase products, since the article will then become a commercial directory. ... discospinster talk 15:36, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

Quantum Fiction[edit]

Could you please explain why you deleted the reference to our book in the titles list? This book was already listed there but a link was added. If we were in error somehow please educate us and we won't repeat our mistake. If the link deletion was correct we still believe the notation should revert to the way it was - the title maintained in the book list. This is a legitimate QF title available since 2007. We are currently writing a Wiki page for this title - and hope we can link to that without an issue - as intended . Thank you for your consideration. — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 18:24, 4 July 2014 (UTC)

I assume you are referring to Quantum Spies? In that case, it's better to write the article first before you add it to such lists. ... discospinster talk 00:45, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

Florida State Seminoles football[edit]

Everything in my edit was sourced. No reason to keep removing it unless you are bias and trying to hide facts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:E:8300:63:84AC:8B46:6BC7:7FEC (talk) 22:13, 4 July 2014 (UTC)

The bias is on your end. You are taking the sources and adding your own commentary about public perceptions and "dragging someone's name through the mud." ... discospinster talk 00:44, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

Persistent vandalism on 'Got Talent articles[edit]

Is there anything that can be done about an IP who's been slowly vandalizing several 'Got Talent articles. These are pages with few watchers where such deliberate factual errors can stick around for months. (Working on the Britain's Got Talent pages, I've found deliberate errors that were 3 months, 5 months, & over a year old.) IP's talk page has plenty of warning but due to slow nature of vandalism, blocks have been avoided. Is there anything that can be done? If left alone, I suspect some of these deliberate errors will stick. Thanks, Kirin13 (talk) 02:26, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

I'm not familiar with the programme, so I can't tell which edits are factual. You can post at WP:ANI and perhaps someone there will be able to determine what to do. ... discospinster talk 00:45, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

You issued a warning to User:Aethelfleda about advertising on 3 July but he is still spamming to push his novel. He has made about 40 edits in the past three days, some when his edits have been reverted. Dudley Miles (talk) 20:44, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

in what way does leaving a valid message about further reading or popular culture section constitute any violation of the rules? Aethelfleda (talk) 21:56, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

The problem is that it's the same information by the same author that is being added to many articles. It gives the impression that it is meant to promote the author and his works. ... discospinster talk 22:36, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
There are countless depictions of real people in historical novels. They are only notable if they are discussed by literary critics or cultural historians. I and other editors frequently delete edits promoting novels as not notable and unreferenced, but Aethelfleda is adding edits on a large scale, and adding back edits which have been reverted as not notable. This is spamming to promote his novel. Dudley Miles (talk) 09:18, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

The article must indicate how the company is notable by Wikipedia's criteria. Please see WP:Notability and WP:ORG for guidelines. I suggest that you start the article in your user space so that you can work on it before it is ready to be published. For example, at User:Sibipaul/Fastunlocker. Good Evening Discospinster

Can you please delete King Abdulaziz Air Base so I can rename Dhahran International Airport to it's correct name.

Hello, Discospinster! I believe you may have Parsi on your Watch list, but I wanted to point out to you an addition made by an IP editor just today. The editor added:

"who are much more recent arrivals, mostly descended from Zoroastrians fleeing the repression of the Qajar dynasty and the general social and political tumult of late 19th- and early 20th-century Iran".

While it may be true, it is unsourced. What do you recommend? CorinneSD (talk) 14:19, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

I checked the Irani (India) article and though it's consistent, neither are sourced. It doesn't seem controversial, so I put a "citation needed" tag on it. ... discospinster talk 01:33, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

Australian music vandal[edit]

Hi, I left a message above about this vandal, who is still active, see e.g. this history, which suggests some range-blocking might help after all. Otherwise an admin needs to recursively step through these histories and semi-protect a large number of articles. It's not clear to me what the best option is. Do you want to deal with this, or should I post to RFPP or AIV or elsewhere? vzaak 22:29, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

I wrote an ANI. vzaak 00:47, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
That's probably the best course of action. I'm not very familiar with range blocking, so even if I tried I'd probably mess it up. ... discospinster talk 01:28, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

Promotion of doctors website on Visakhapatnam page. The IP's keep on adding like edit1, edit 2, this was today, you reverted the last one. Need semi-protection for a while.--Vin09 (talk) 05:03, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
