Bharat Wadhwa tagged for speedy deletion[edit]

An article that you have been involved in editing, Bharat Wadhwa, has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please look there to see why this is, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. AmiDaniel (talk) 09:40, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Diviwadhwa. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Yug Purush Maha Mandaleshwar Swami Paramanand Giri Ji Maharaj, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. If you don't want Yug Purush Maha Mandaleshwar Swami Paramanand Giri Ji Maharaj to be deleted, please add a reference to the article.

If you don't understand this message, you can leave a note on my talk page.

Thanks, 0x0077BE [talk/contrib] 07:37, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion[edit]

Thanks for message. So many problems. Although it's not a reason for deletion, note that the article title is wrong. It should be just his name, without titles, honorifics etc, as with Gabriel, Albert Einstein and Barack Obama. No saint, swami, professor or president. I deleted your article because

  • it did not provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. It is now Wikipedia policy that biographical articles about living people must have independent verifiable references, or they will be deleted. Although you gave references, they were mostly unacceptable. Apart from a deadlink, they were a mixture of spam links to his books, or "references" to sites that were clearly associated with him. You need proper sources like national newspapers, not hagiographic websites. The World Council of religious leaders is a proper source, but doesn't appear to mention him.
  • it was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Examples of unsourced claims presented as fact include: Enlightened Master... The highest title of saints.... Living Legend... dawning of a new era... destined to become an enlightened master of this Age... He revealed early signs of spiritual maturity toward the path of renunciation... and so on. Basically the whole article, right through to Most of all, his compassion, humbleness, and kindness have filled the hearts of his devotees with divine love and the direct knowledge of Brahman is completely over-the-top glorification of this man by his supporters, with ahrdly a shred of verifiable fact. It's about as far from a neutral encyclopaedia article as it's possible to get. Would you write an article in this tone about a religious leader from a Christian or Muslim background?
  • There are multiple spam links to sales sites for his books, Wikipedia is not free advertising.
  • You have an obvious conflict of interest when it comes to editing articles about this subject. If, after reading the information about notability linked above, you still believe that he is notable enough for a Wikipedia article (and that there is significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources), you could, if you wish, post a request at Wikipedia:Requested articles for the article to be created. See also Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest.

It's possible that he may be genuinely notable, but it's hard to pick out genuine facts from all the guff. Please note that if you just keep on posting the same text, the article may be protected from being created. If you can write a proper factual article, fine, if you are to close to the subject to do so, best to leave it.

Removal of link[edit]

Hi Diviwadhwa. I removed your link The Direct Realization Of Brahman from Brahman and Nondualism because it is WP:UNDUE and WP:NOTADVERTISING. This means that this link gives undue attention to this guru, and that it reads like an advertisement. By the way, I've added a few links to your draft on Paramand.
