Speedy deletion of DevMaster.net

A tag has been placed on DevMaster.net requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Re: Speedy deletion of DevMaster.net

As described in the first section of the DevMaster.net article, DevMaster.net is best known for its Games and 3D Engines Database (aka. 3D Engine Database), and is, by far, the most comprehensive and up-to-date source of information on Game Engines (which are the primary tools/technologies used by game developers). I have personally found it invaluable in finding and comparing game engines in the past.

In addition to the description of the main features and history of the website, I was going to provide additional information on the aforementioned 3D Engine Database, including a listing of the top ranking commercial and open-source 3D engines. This page was created because it is referenced by the Game Engine article on Wikipedia (which now points to a non-existent page) as it was the primary source of information used in the Notable Engines section, and was a basis for other references to significant game engines throughout the article. Beyond that, DevMaster.net is directly linked to, or listed as a reference, on 20 Wikipedia articles, most of which are referring to it in the context of its 3D Engine Database.

Also, beyond DevMaster.net's role as arguably the best source of information on game engines, it is also one of the 3 primary community, news, and information sites for the Game Development Industry. This can be substantiated by the following:

• 1st ranking on Open Directory (dmoz.org) in 3D Games Programming

• 4th most popular Game Programming website on Alexa (ranked right after Gamasutra, GameDev.net, and GarageGames, all of which have their own articles on Wikipedia)

• 1st page (2nd search result) on Google for "3D Engine" (right after most popular open-source engine OGRE)

• 1st page (4th result) on Google for "Game engine" (right after Wikipedia and developer/publisher GarageGames).

I propose that this delete be reverted. I have a local copy of this article available and can repost it, but I would like to hear your thoughts on whether, in light of this additional information, you would consider it a relevant - or helpful - article to include on Wikipedia. And, I would appreciate any suggestion you have as to what, if any, of the above facts or descriptions would be helpful to include in the article to better explain its relavance.

As its been a while without a response, I have recreated this page, with improved/corrected content, and also placed the above justification on its Talk page. We can continue the discussion there. And, I would appreciate if, on that talk page, you would make any suggestions you may have as how to make this page more useful/relevant to viewers, or what of the above facts should be included to make this clear.

3D computer graphics software edits

There have already been several discussions about a page rework like this. In fact the page formally was in a similar but different structure to your changes and all it did was left the page in a constant copy fight between application fans. The page in this format has remained stable and useful for readers, and a change like this needs to be formally discussed and agreed upon before being implemented.

Just looking at your sorting of "Major 3D modeling package" vs. "Other commercial packages", it appears arbitrary and POV. How did you even quantify this? Your edits also lead me to suspect COI. BcRIPster (talk) 15:43, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
