Engr Derrick Ovunda Njobuenwu graduated summa cum laude in Chemical/Petrochemical Engineering from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology RSUST Port Harcourt Nigeria in 2001. On completion of National Youth Service Corps in Nigeria in 2002, he worked for Star-AP Joint Venture (now AP Oil Field Services) as a Drilling Fluid Engineering in Shell Petroleum and Addax Petroleum Oilfields. He later obtained funding to study for MSc degree in Loughborough University UK where he specialised in Advanced Process Engineering and competed favourably with other students and excelled, passing out with high distinction in 2005 to justify his inclusion in the Rivers State Government - HiPACT scholarship scheme. He lectures in Chemical/Petrochemical Engineering department RSUST before he proceeded to University of Leeds UK for his PhD degree in Computational Fluid Dynamics CFD in 2006 funded by Commonwealth Scholarship in UK. He has published in both Nigerian and international journals. Folks call him donadviser and he loves music, photography and trying new ideas.
In an interview with a Nigerian newspaper, he said "University is a good place to be, working with people, seeing new faces each year and most importantly, you remain a student by reading to meet the challenges of the academic environment. I love teaching, to impact knowledge on others".
