Congrats

Never mentioned, but congrats on Administrator for wikipedia. I know about a year or two ago, we started off on the wrong foot, but I've learned a lot from you. I've been even making sure that someone doesn't add a schedule to the radio pages, since that's not allowed. Haven't made any other changes to the radio pages, just read them now, or fix them, if someone adds something that they shouldn't have added on there. I am though, using my sandbox more to fix pages, before putting them on the actual pages, then that way, all the corrections are on my sandbox and not on the actual pages. Just have to remember to use the sandbox more, for stuff that needs to be added though. (JoeCool950 (talk) 06:28, 7 July 2010 (UTC))

Thanks, Joe. You've come a long way and I'm glad to have you working on these articles. - Dravecky (talk) 08:23, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
Would you be able to see who deleted User:JoeCool950/Sandbox. I'm working on the Tehachapi Unified School District page, and my sandbox got deleted. I put it back up. I was seeing what copyright tag would be good for the Tehachapi Unified School District. I got User: JoeCool950/Sandbox back up and working with what I'm previously working on. (JoeCool950 (talk) 22:12, 10 July 2010 (UTC))
An admin deleted your Sandbox after you replaced the content of the page with a db-copyvio template. I can restore the previous text, if you want, but it appears you're farther along now than you were before you deleted all that text. - Dravecky (talk) 03:46, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
Would you be able to restore what was on there, before the admin. deleted it. He deleted it too fast, before I could get to the page to take off the template. I had some other stuff on there that I was working on, beside that stuff, so if you can add the stuff that was on the history, before he deleted it, that would be cool. Thanks. Some of the administrators are too fast on here. They delete stuff, before you get the chance to take off the templates. Like I said, I was seeing if the template would work for a part of an article, but decided not to use it, since it was for the whole article. So, just restore the other content from my "history" that I've worked on, and that would be great, so that I can go to them, if I need them. If you can't then that's a big bummer. Wish the administrator would have contacted me on my talkpage, before deleting it, but guess he that I didn't need or want the page. If it's in my sandbox, means I'm testing it out for an article, so that I know the appropriate template to use, and not put the wrong one, if that makes since to you. Thanks. (JoeCool950 (talk) 06:25, 11 July 2010 (UTC))
If I'm testing it out though, would it be best to put a hangon template on there also, and explain just testing the template to see which one to use? Let me know, so that I know next time. (JoeCool950 (talk) 06:34, 11 July 2010 (UTC))

Question

Where do you go to get deleted stuff back, if deleted from userpage. If you know, could you let me know. Thanks. Or, could you put it back up, the stuff I had on my user page User:JoeCool950. Thanks. (JoeCool950 (talk) 22:54, 11 July 2010 (UTC))

Only an administrator can restore deleted files. I've moved what you had in the Sandbox to User:JoeCool950/Sandbox2 then restored what was deleted (minus the two edits that got it deleted in the first place) to User:JoeCool950/Sandbox. May I strongly suggest you use the Preview button to see the effects of your edits rather than saving dozens of times? That will prevent this from recurring when you save a page with a speedy-deletion template in place by mistake. - Dravecky (talk) 00:53, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Where's the Preview button. I didn't know about that. I've been having problems with User:RHaworth. Do you know if he's a good administrator? Was just wondering? (JoeCool950 (talk) 01:21, 12 July 2010 (UTC))
"Show preview" is right next to "Save page", just below where you type the edit summary. I have no personal knowledge of that admin and can't render any opinion other than to note that they appear to be a longtime and consistent contributor to Wikipedia. - Dravecky (talk) 01:27, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Question

Was wondering, if it's considered vandalism blanking this page User:JoeCool950/Sandbox2? I know the articles themselves, it's definitely considered vandalism. If I ever do that, I would request a block on myself for that, but was just wondering about the page User:JoeCool950/Sandbox2. Thanks.(JoeCool950 (talk) 21:26, 24 July 2010 (UTC))

No, your own sandbox is fair game for blanking by you. Don't be surprised if it gets deleted after you blank it but, of course, you can easily recreate it at any time. - Dravecky (talk) 03:33, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Please help

Please explain at the article talk page how being on the national registry of historic places is in and of itself enough to satisfy WP:CORP? I don't have my mind set on having the entry deleted, but in the current state it really does not indicate notability. If you can please help fix it if indeed this restaurant is notable. Thanks.Griswaldo (talk) 01:39, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Another editor just nominated Big Spring Cafe for deletion. Since you recently expanded it I thought you should know.Griswaldo (talk) 13:53, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
As an aside, it might have been helpful of you to actually respond to the request for non-local sources on the talk page instead of ignoring it. The nominator might have held off if there was ongoing discussion about the issue.Griswaldo (talk) 13:58, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
My nomination was based on my own review of potential sources, not what was in the article at any point in time (of course it is true that many editors—including Dravekcy—are more capable than I am in identifying potential sources). If any sources beyond what I was able to identify are later raised and indicate notability, I will immediately withdraw the nomination. As noted elsewhere, I think the current guidelines are unfortunately broad, but this topic seems (based on the references in the article and those that I have identified on my own) not to meet even that threshold. I felt it more urgent to actually add sources to and expand the article than to discuss the theoretical basis for doing so. Having spent six hours tracking down news stories, creating prose, refining categories, and such I found myself at 4:00 a.m. with a decent start article sourced primarily to The Huntsville Times but also to the one regional source required by WP:CORP so I was more than a little surprised to find this expanded article at AfD at lunchtime. - Dravecky (talk) 18:27, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
