Talk:Stanley Matthews[edit]

Wasn't really any need to refer to Man Utd as "Manure" in that last edit summary, was there? Also, Matthews made several guest appearances for United during WW2, so it seemed apt for the Man Utd task force to support the article. Can never have too many groups supporting an article, I reckon. – PeeJay 01:48, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Dawn Acton[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Dawn Acton requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. GSorby - Talk! 22:27, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Walter Atherton[edit]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

A tag has been placed on Walter Atherton requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about it should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you can assert the notability of the subject, Speedy delete contest button.png. Clicking that button will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the article's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

Charlie Adams Liverpool squad number[edit]

I have removed this as there is a blank entry on the official squad list page here http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/team/first-team and I rekon the training kit used was borrowed as part of the clubs publicity stunt as he couldn't well do it in his Blackpool gear or whatever he was wearing that day could he?Seasider91 (talk) 07:17, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Or... they've had an age to get things in order and 15 will be his squad number? - Dudesleeper talk 10:09, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Could be the case that the site is behind the club in terms of squad progressions though its highly unlikely considerring adams names on the list and Darbys listed as being on loan, best leaving it alone till the site confirms it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Seasider91 (talkcontribs) 13:48, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Barry Ferguson[edit]

Hello. I'm surprised you reverted to a version of the article with Ferguson a Blackpool player and no club reference to verify it. Perhaps he has already signed, but as of 8.30am Friday UK time, Blackpool haven't announced it either on their website or on their Twitter feed. If he stays fit, he'll be an excellent signing. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 07:37, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

File:Blackpool F.C. 1908-09 squad.jpg needs authorship information.[edit]

Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:Blackpool F.C. 1908-09 squad.jpg appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

Images - Perthmixed.jpg and PerthScotland.jpg[edit]

I see that File:Perthmixed.jpg has been tagged for deletion and it looks as if it was your work originally though not uploaded by you. I copied the image to Commons, which got it spotted. Can it be saved?

You did not get the notification as the image was uploaded by User:LemonCrumpet (who may or may not be related to you; none of my business frankly). It is a good image, if it is not a Copyvio, which I have used elsewhere and would be sore to lose, if it is not a Copyvio.

The same would apply to File:PerthScotland.jpg. I would transfer that to Commons too if its copyright tag were fixed; until it is, then a transfer would get it jumped on and wiped.

Hogweard (talk) 13:28, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

I'll have to leave you to square it with Commons by showing where the images come from.
A derivative which I made and uploaded to Commons is, I now see, just a re-creation of File:St. Matthew's Church and Smeaton's Bridge.jpg which you mentioned. It is a good picture (and that has always been my favourite view of Perth). I see it alone is used alone to illustrate Perth elsewhere. Hogweard (talk) 13:44, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

William Williams[edit]

A player of the name William Williams played for Blackpool and Everton in the 1920s. Joyce has his date of birth rather cryptically as 16/11/?? Do your books give any more info? Jason Puncheon[edit]

I have reverted your own revert as Puncheon's loan at QPR has now ended. Technically he is now a Southampton player but whether he ever pulls on the red and white stripes again remains to be seen. In yesterday's local paper he was quoted as saying "I'd like to start afresh at Saints", so maybe he can get over his problem with Nigel Adkins; after our recent performances, we could do with an injection of new blood as there is no real depth in the squad. Cheers. -- Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 07:46, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Serenity Now[edit]

The article Serenity Now has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not a notable album per WP:GNG and WP:NALBUMS.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Clubname[edit]

Hi, I noticed your recent edits where you added "F.C." to the "clubname" parameters at football club articles, and was wondering if there is any consenus to encourage this? I seem to recall (probably incorrectly) that a consensus was reached that articles should stick with the status quo and remain unchanged, but I likely just dreamt that up. Anyway, I just thought I'd bring this up as I'm not quite sure about it myself. Cheers, Mattythewhite (talk) 00:16, 11 January 2012 (UTC)

Jock Dodds image[edit]

Hello mate. This image of Dodds was uploaded by you on 3 April 2007. As part of the "Fair-use rationale" you have mentioned that the image is only available for the articles "Jock Dodds" and "History of Blackpool F.C. (1887–1962)", I was wondering on what copyright grounds the image was only available for these two articles specifically and not for other articles. It was my intention to use the image on "List of Sheffield United F.C. players" which I'm recently improving however this copyright query has stopped me from doing so. Can you please confirm for me if I am able to use it on this article please? Also I was wondering when the image was taken, because if was 70 years ago (baring in mind you uploaded it 5 years ago), it might now be copyright free if I'm correct. Also the licensing may need updating too. I'm not too good with copyright law and international copyright law haha. Regards IJA (talk) 15:31, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

I'll add it to the article then. I'm guessing I can remove the "Hist of B'pool" and Dodds only statement on the file itself then too? If someone with a better knowledge of Copyright Law objects, I'll remove it. Regards IJA (talk) 16:07, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

You imposed your opinion that a WikiCommons photo of the James Herriot Museum was not relevant to the All Creatures Great And Small page by removing the photo. Jeanfield players[edit]

Hi Dudesleeper, thanks for the recent comment on my talk page. At least I know one other person is interested on the Juniors on wiki! Was just wanting to mention the Jeanfield Swifts players you added to the Junior internationals section on the Scottish Junior Football Association page. Aird and Kelly don't actually belong there as neither player won a Junior international cap before their illustrious Senior career. Maybe a page or category for all ex-Junior players who received Senior international caps would be a possibility but I haven't thought too much about it.

Incidentally, Jeanfield have had two players capped for the Scotland Juniors side, Harry Adamson in 1947 and Ally Hill in 1952. Adamson made over 200 appearances for Notts County and is surely worthy of a page in his own right, while Hill's page makes little reference to his Junior career. Over time I hope to get around as many ex-Juniors as possible and add categories/detail to their articles. Thanks again Sgt Elvan (talk) 11:05, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:North Stand from south-west corner.jpg)[edit]

Ambox warning blue.svg Thanks for uploading File:North Stand from south-west corner.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 05:55, 9 March 2013 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Billy Ayre tribute, April 2012.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Billy Ayre tribute, April 2012.jpg, which you've attributed to TV screenshot. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 23:56, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

Journalistic Opinion reverts[edit]

Che1563 (talk) 19:38, 25 August 2013 (UTC)Journalistic Opinion reverts

I noticed that you did a lot of reverts on me on the issue that they were journalistic opinion. You also mentioned me on a wiki about editing without at least first contacting me and discussing any concerns that you have.

I do not go on wikipedia and disparage players or their reputations, I was simply adding details (95% of them referenced) about a players abilities or attributes. I guess according to your opinion, I cannot post saying Roberto Carlos is skillful at free kicks, or that Pele was a great goal scorer or that Xavi is great passer even if it was referenced because it was a journalist's opinion. So a wikipedia page can only say a player's biographical stats and chronological history and cannot discuss how a player's playing style is? If you go to the articles for the above players there are descriptions of their playing styles and I thank all the Wikepedia contributors who posted such information.

Raikes Hall[edit]

It is what the book states, but other sources suggest the author may have been mistaken on this occasion (or not considered the fact that they may have returned to Raikes Hall when they were researching it). Number 57 21:56, 9 March 2014 (UTC)

Blackpool lead[edit]

I suppose two things: the amount of detail about matches in 1953 seems undue and the amount of detail about recent seasons also strikes me as recentist. Haldraper (talk) 09:21, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for March 24[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2013–14 Blackpool F.C. season, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages David Perkins and Jack Robinson (footballer) (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Minor edits[edit]

Hi. I noticed this series of edits which were all marked as minor edits. Could you please not mark edits as minor unless they are actually minor? Help:Minor edits may be of interest here. --John (talk) 22:49, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

By the same token, how is this not a minor edit? - Dudesleeper talk 22:56, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
You could so argue, I suppose. But it is better to err in the direction I have; some editors turn off minor edits in their watchlist and might view what you have done (fairly major restructuring as a series of minor edits) as some sort of subterfuge. I am not making that judgement, just asking you nicely to adhere to community standards on this. --John (talk) 23:15, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

Information icon Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. Mutt Lunker (talk) 21:20, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

Adrianne Wadewitz Memorial edit-a-thons[edit]

Adrianne Wadewitz edit-a-thons in Southern New England

As you may have already heard, the Wikipedia community lost an invaluable member of the community last month. Adrianne Wadewitz was a feminist scholar of 18th-Century British literature, and a prolific editor of the site. As part of a worldwide series of tributes, New England Wikimedians, in conjunction with local institutions of higher learning, have created three edit-a-thons that will be occurring in May and June. The events are as follows:

We hope that you will be able to join us, whether you are an experienced editor or are using Wikipedia for the first time.

wet wet wet[edit]

You have appeared to removed the musical credits I implemented on the various album pages [wet wet wet]. I was just wondering what spurred you to do this, as the credits [including the technical usage of the Emulator synth] are correct. If you could allow me to understand you views I would be most pleased, thank you. Simply tom (talk) 19:38, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

Edit warring[edit]

Last chance if you revert again I will report you for edit warring. Lukejordan02 (talk) 17:08, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

Go crazy. Have you actually looked at what you're removing each time? Thanks for the threat, though. - NewTestLeper79 talk 17:11, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
It's got nothing to do with the content, edit warring is rule breaking full stop and if you actually read the rules you will see it says reverting anything that isn't vandalism should be explained in the edit summary. Do you know what one of them is? Lukejordan02 (talk) 17:15, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
I'm reverting incorrect content; what are you reverting? - NewTestLeper79 talk 18:35, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
Unexplained changes. Lukejordan02 (talk) 18:37, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
You've had four blocks this year. I've had none in 8.5 years. So don't be offended if I don't heed your opinion too much. - NewTestLeper79 talk 19:39, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, I made mistakes in the past but your making mistakes now. And there's a first time for everything. Lukejordan02 (talk) 19:49, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

2014–15 Blackpool[edit]

Sorry for any confusion regarding away goals, I am a Manchester United fan first and there articles don't list away goals, I thought it was because of ruling but it isn't it's because they have a different template to other teams. But the fact that the previous Blackpool seasons means there is some unfinished work on these articles. Lukejordan02 (talk) 23:30, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

2014 Blackpool Season question[edit]

Hi, do you know who scored the goal for Burnley during there match against Blackpool as the score was 1-0 but it doesn't mention the scorer on the article. Lukejordan02 (talk) 14:34, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
