A barnstar for you![edit]

The Barnstar of Good Humor
Apparently we have never directly interacted (or at least I have no memory of it), but I have frequently noted your light touch and constructive contributions in various discussions across the 'pedia -- so thanks for that! JBL (talk) 21:55, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks, JBL! I don't recall any direct interactions either, but I do think we tend to haunt some of the same locales. And yes, I do try to remind everyone not to take themselves so seriously--if only as a reminder to myself! Have a wonderful upcoming week. Dumuzid (talk) 23:10, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

is this a reliable source?[edit]

chris kindred (@itskindred): "The @Steam curator harassment group Sweet Baby Inc detected is lead by this person, @kabrutusrambo. Here's them trying to be slick so they don't get reported. Even with the discriminatory language filed off, the group itself still fails the code of conduct." | nitter.poast.org (archive.is) MisteOsoTruth (talk) 14:19, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MisteOsoTruth, and a sincere thanks for stopping by. I know you raised this at the Sweet Baby talk page, which I won't have time to check until a bit later, so forgive me if this seems redundant. First, my standard caveat that these are all my opinions and reasonable minds may differ. I suspect you are looking at the reliable source inquiry a little too mechanically; it doesn't really matter what webpage it comes from--it's a more organic inquiry. Like: is there a team of editors and fact checkers behind this? Do other sources think this source is reliable? Has this source made corrections in the past (believe it or not, a history of corrections is a good thing because it shows the source is doing its due diligence and owning up to mistakes)? So, what you have here is an archived image of a webpage showing a back and forth on X. (I believe Nitterpost is just an X lookup?). So, no, not really reliable, and definitely a primary source if you want to use it for any of the people in that conversation. That will run into some WP:ABOUTSELF issues, but also some WP:DUE issues. On Wikipedia, we don't get to decide what we think is important about a topic--we follow what reliable sources say. Maybe there are reliable sources that have covered this particular exchange! It is certainly possible. But if not, then it does not belong in the article. I understand your side of this, but again, I think you're just trying to bend Wikipedia a way it is not meant to go. I know Wikipedia has a special sort of prestige, but I would respectfully suggest these are arguments to be made elsewhere or to write about for publication--but of course that could all change tomorrow depending on what reliable sources put out. Cheers, and feel free to stop by if you have any other questions. Dumuzid (talk) 15:38, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the notice, asparagusus. I have to say, my first time being summonsed to ANI, and I feel a bit underwhelmed by the issue presented. Cheers. Dumuzid (talk) 01:24, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
