Firstly, let me wish you a very happy New Year and thank you for all your help in the Milhist Tag & Assess 2007 drive.

Wiki-stripe1.svg Military history service award
For tagging and assessing 250 articles in Tag & Assess 2007, by order of the coordinators I hereby present you with this Military history WikiProject Service Award. --ROGER DAVIES talk 11:16, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Secondly, although the Tag & Assess 2007 drive is now officially closed, you are very welcome to continue tagging and assessing until 31 January 2008. Any articles you tag and assess during this time will be credited fully to your tagging tally for further award purposes.

Thirdly, if you can find the time, it would be good to have your feedback/comments on the drive at the Tag & Assess workshop

Thanks again for your help, --ROGER DAVIES talk 11:16, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

New! BCAD drive from Milhist[edit]

Can I invite you to particpate in our new assessment drive? It's strictly for experienced editors and has a degree of friendly competition built-in. It involves re-evaluating around 3500 Milhist B-Class articles to ensure they match our new criteria. As ever, we're offering a range of awards as our way of expressing our thanks. The drive doesn't start until 18:00 (UTC) on March 10 but you can sign up in advance here. It would be great if you can spare the time, --ROGER DAVIES talk 05:33, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

News! Tag & Assess 2008 is coming ...[edit]

Milhist's new drive – Tag & Assess 2008 – goes live on April 25 and you are cordially invited to participate. This time, the task is housekeeping. As ever, there are awards galore, plus there's a bit of friendly competition built-in, with a race for bronze, silver and gold wikis! You can sign up, in advance, here. I look forward to seeing you on the drive page! All the best, --ROGER DAVIES talk 11:08, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Lightning Talks at the NYC Meetup[edit]

I started on the NYC Meetup page by clicking on your user page, with {{User wikipedia/Uncat}} mentioning the Uncat task force. That seemed interesting to me, so I tried Wikipedia:WikiProject Categories/uncategorized and then, randomly chose Paul Schattel. I added two categories using Wikipedia:HOTCAT, and I placed three appropriate templates on the talk page. That was easy enough, so I would encourage you to consider doing a lightning talk at the NYC Meetup on the Uncat task force. I did one last year on the Article Rescue Squadron on the spur of the moment. With a bit of preparation, you could do a good job, calling attention to this housekeeping task force. --DThomsen8 (talk) 15:47, 1 January 2011 (UTC)

I'll give it some thought. Thanks for the suggestion. DutchTreat (talk) 18:18, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

You're invited to the New York Wiknic![edit]

You could be having this much fun! Seriously, consider coming.

This message is being sent to inform you of a Wikipedia picnic that is being held in your area next Saturday, June 25. From 1 to 8 PM or any time in between, join your fellow volunteers for a get together at Norman's Landscape (directions) in Manhattan's Central Park.

Take along your friends (newbies permitted), your family and other free culture enthusiasts! You may also want to pack a blanket, some water or perhaps even a frisbee.

If you can, share what you're bringing at the discussion page.

Also, please remember that this is the picnic that anyone can edit so bring enough food to share!

To subscribe to future events, follow the mailing list or add your username to the invitation list. BrownBot (talk) 19:04, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

Dancing Stars[edit]

Hello Bai Brother, I am User:Es.ntp from Vietnam and I need your help a lot in expanding Dancing Stars articles which strongly influences to our vietnamese version of Dancing with the Stars. We used your country's format and brought your professionals to our country and even bought the show's script. Thus, there might be some international winners (who win both in Bulgaria and in Vietnam) and some strictly similarities. Our latest winning professional is Lachezar Stefanov Todorov. I ask you today just for more info about the show, especially the elimination order, how many season there are and so-on. Thank you so much for your collaborating. From Vietnam with love!! 1.52.27.207 (talk) 04:28, 4 July 2011 (UTC).

National Archives ExtravaSCANza[edit]

You are invited to the National Archives ExtravaSCANza, taking place every day next week from January 4–7, Wednesday to Saturday, in College Park, Maryland (Washington, DC metro area). Come help me cap off my stint as Wikipedian in Residence at the National Archives with one last success!

This will be a casual working event in which Wikipedians are getting together to scan interesting documents at the National Archives related to a different theme each day—currently: spaceflight, women's suffrage, Chile, and battleships—for use on Wikipedia/Wikimedia Commons. The event is being held on multiple days, and in the evenings and weekend, so that as many locals and out-of-towners from nearby regions1 as possible can come. Please join us! Dominic·t 01:15, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

1 Wikipedians from DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Newark, New York City, and Pittsburgh have been invited.

CC or PD Licensing Images from Yale Center for British Art[edit]

I'm requesting peer review on a decision I made for licensing images from the Yale Center for British Art. I chose to use Creative Commons (CC), but I'm wondering if it would be permissible to use the Public Domain (PD) instead. When I read statement from Yale on unrestricted rights, it mentions both being in the public domain and under a CC license. Any words of advice before I continue to upload more images from this large (100,000+) collection? Thanks DutchTreat (talk) 09:49, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

Sample images with CC templates applied:

  1. Commons:File:Portrait_of_a_Woman,_Possibly_Miss_Nettlethorpe_by_Henry_Walton.png
  2. Commons:File:The_Daughters_of_Our_Empire._England_The_Primrose_by_Edwin_Long.png
When I click on the source links now (i.e. this one, for example, it says "Public Domain" right under the thumbnail. The Yale link you supplied above states that they are releasing things under the CC-0 license (essentially PD on steroids), so I would release everything under that template. Hope this helps, Sven Manguard Wha? 14:58, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

Seeking Diagram Sketch from Wikimania 2012 Grand Ballroom[edit]

At Wikimania 2012, I witnessed a a hand drawn diagram on a table at the back of the grand ballroom. I believe it was the work of several hands in a burst of creative, problem solving. I'm seeking more information on the substance and conclusions resulting from this great expression of the spirit of the Wikipedia movement. Can anyone please share a photograph of the diagram or explain what it was all about? DutchTreat (talk) 10:18, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi Dutch, I spoke to the guy who did it. It was just one guy and he started by doodling during the GLAM talks. As the talks went on, he just continued. I have a bad pic of it, but on Flickr there are several nice pics (none of course were able to capture the entire sketch). I'm away at another conference right now but I'll try to look for something on Sunday. Meanwhile check out the #wikimania Flickr streams. -- kosboot (talk) 12:14, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for August 21[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited National Design Awards, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Scott Wilson and Ken Smith (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 12:26, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

Good catch! These were correctly flagged for correction. I made the changes. Thanks for the help. DutchTreat (talk) 10:27, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

BACKLOG OF THE WEEK Category:Pages with broken reference names[edit]

Hello - some editors fight off the vandal hordes, as I do repairing pages with citation errors. If I didn't - there would be a large backlog in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting and in Category:Pages with missing references list as in Category:Pages with broken reference names (more than 1500 yesterday). But it is impossible to work it alone. Do you know how to do a "Blitz" (excuse the comparision) to find willing editors to work on it. It is much more easier to repair references if you do it one hour, one day or one week ago after the errors were made instead of months and years after the error was done. Very, very difficult to find these errors.

Only with WikiBlame Search it is possible to find and repair such errors.

Best wishes --Frze > talk 08:49, 10 October 2013 (UTC)

June 2014[edit]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Louis Wolowski may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
