[edit] it:Template:Football kit
Please refrain to make such edits without any prior discussion; the SVG version is used since March and nobody complained about it, if you feel it's a big issue reach a local consensus before. --Brownout (msg) 15:10, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- IE6 users tend to be the least technical hence the lack of complaints - but it will be rendering as white kits for all those people. Do you really think breaking the template for 20% of internet users isn't a big deal? ed g2s • talk 16:51, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- In fact if you look at the talk page there have been complaints. ed g2s • talk 16:52, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- I think that before reverting to an older version a fairly stable template included in ~3000 articles you should at least discuss. --Brownout (msg) 17:05, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- PS: I kinda agree with the Germans, IE6 is horribly old, nobody should use it.

[edit] Invitation to Wikipedia meetup in London
Date: 13:00 onwards, Sunday 10 August 2008
Venue: Penderel's Oak pub, Holborn WC1 map
More information: Wikipedia:Meetup/London 12
Hello,
I noticed that you have listed yourself as a Wikipedian in London, so I thought you might like to come to one of our monthly social meetups. The next one is going to be on Sunday 10 August, which might well be rather short notice, but if you can't come this time, we try to have one every second Sunday of the month.
If you haven't been before, these meetups are mainly casual social events for Wikipedia enthusiasts in which we chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy. It's a great way to meet some very keen Wikipedians, but we'd also love for you to come along if you're interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, or other collaborative wiki projects too.
The location is a pub that is quite quiet and family friendly on a Sunday lunchtime, so hopefully younger Wikipedians will also feel welcome and safe. Alcohol consumption is certainly not required!
Although the meetups are popular, many UK-based editors still don't know about them. It would be great to welcome some fresh faces, so I hope you can come along.
Yours,
James F. (talk) 09:27, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Please forgive the slightly impersonal mass-invite!

[edit] Template:Nutritionalvalue
Hi Ed. I noticed your experimental edits of {{nutritionalvalue}}. Next time you edit a complex template or when you are not absolutely sure what result your edit to the template will cause, I recommend you use the /sandbox and perhaps the /testcases subpages of the template. Or you can experiment on a subpage in your own user space. Thus you don't cause weird looking article pages while you experiment. And you save a lot of server load, since each time you change a deployed template lots of articles are re-rendered.
You can learn more about this at Wikipedia:Template test cases.
--David Göthberg (talk) 13:54, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
- Ed: You really should come to Template talk:Nutritionalvalue and explain the purpose of your major edits to the {{nutritionalvalue}} template, and what changes those edits mean. We should not have to spend hours comparing code line by line and run tests to figure out what changes you might have added.

[edit] Talk page
Just letting you know - my talk is currently broken in IE and Opera, so I have decided to get a new design. I was going to design one, but I usually end up screwing it up some way or another. Anyway, I am borrowing yours (with some modifications) for now, not going live until I've sorted out the aforementioned mods though. If you have any objections to this, please do make them known. Thanks again, — neuro(talk) 16:05, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, and I forgot to mention, I will credit you at the bottom of both my talk and user pages, as I may use a modified version of your userpage for mine as well. As I say, any objections, just say. :) — neuro(talk) 16:09, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Suspension
Hi, I noticed you were the one created the match report templates and uploaded the images to Wikipedia, so I hope I'm ask the right person here... =) Do you know if there is a similar image or template on a "2-minute suspension" given in handball? It should be a hand showing the peace-sign "backwards", look at this document on page 65 for a preview. Hope you can help? =) lil2mas (talk) 23:44, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
[edit] <caption> margins

[edit] Cambridge meetup

[edit] Photograph request: British Airways headquarters
Ed, do you have a digital camera? Is Heathrow Airport convenient? If so, would you mind taking a photograph of the British Airways headquarters and putting it on Commons so it can be used on Wikipedia? Thank you WhisperToMe (talk) 04:10, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Templates for deletion nomination of Template:Sin bin
Template:Sin bin has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for Deletion page. Thank you. – PeeJay 22:25, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- I've left you a reply at the TfD discussion for this template. I hope you understand where I'm coming from on this. The length of the sin-binning, regardless of the sport, should be obvious from the context of the article, making the template unnecessary. – PeeJay 17:27, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Meetup
FYI, the fourth Cambridge meetup will occur on the afternoon of Saturday 1 August. Charles Matthews (talk) 18:56, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] WP:ACTOR and non-standard Filmographies (redux)
Hi. I just read the long thread at:
I've stumbled into this issue during the last few days, having worked on maybe 20 filmographies attempting to clean-up poor markup and styling.
I think the time has come to sort the issue of non-standard styling in the name of a wikiproject. The whole initiative originating there reeks of article ownership, wikiprojects as "governing" bodies, and impeding site accessibility in the name of meretricious appearance.
I think the appropriate outcome is filmographies either implemented as bog-standard wikitables, or a suite of templates/css that allow central control of the styling (i.e. to site-wide conventions).
The current point of discussion is at:
I hope to see you there.
Cheers, Jack Merridew 07:20, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
- The thread above has rolled well-along and I've a request at WP:AN#Stuck RfC @ WT:ACTOR#Filmography asking that it be reviewed. Cheers, Jack Merridew 03:43, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

[edit] London Wikimedia Fundraiser
Good evening! This is a friendly message from Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry, inviting you to the London Wikimedia Fundraising party on 19th December 2010, in approximately one week. This party is being held at an artistic London venue with room for approximately 300 people, and is being funded by Ed Saperia, a non-Wikipedian who has a reputation for holding exclusive events all over London. This year, he wants to help Wikipedia, and is subsidising a charity event for us. We're keen to get as many Wikimedians coming as possible, and we already have approximately 200 guests, including members of the press, and some mystery guests! More details can be found at http://ten.wikipedia.org/wiki/London - expect an Eigenharp, a mulled wine hot tub, a free hog roast, a haybale amphitheatre and more. If you're interested in coming - and we'd love to have you - please go to the ten.wikipedia page and follow the link to the Facebook event. Signing up on Facebook will add you to the party guestlist. Entry fee is a heavily subsidised £5 and entry is restricted to over 18s. It promises to be a 10th birthday party to remember! If you have any questions, please email me at chasemewiki at gmail.com.
Hope we'll see you there, (and apologies for the talk page spam) - Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 22:46, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
