Fair use rationale for Image:Hpshot2.JPG[edit]

- - Thanks for uploading Image:Hpshot2.JPG. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

- - Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

- - If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Alpha Gamma Delta[edit]

- Regarding your contribution to Alpha Gamma Delta if you notice further on down the page the designation is specifically 'fraternity for women' so instead of a sorority it goes by fraternity. This is not just some random designation so please double check before you change something like that. Thanks. --ImmortalGoddezz 00:14, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

Spaceballs[edit]

- Hi Eridani, and welcome to Wikipedia! I'm afraid I just removed your addition to Spaceballs analyzing the implications of the relationship between Lone Starr and Dark Helmet (it's quite a coincidence that I stumbled upon it mere hours after you added it).

- - Anyway, to get a bit geeky about this, the reason your conclusions don't hold is the following. Here's the original statement:

- -

Lone Starr's "father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate," (which means Helmet was either Starr's cousin's roommate, or even Starr's own roommate, if he had one cousin on his father's side)

- - Okay, let's take this a step at a time:

-

  • "father's brother's" = "uncle's"

-

  • "uncle's nephew's" could just be "cousin's", but this could equally well refer to a nephew by marriage of the given uncle.

-

  • even if it is just "cousin's", that gives us "cousin's cousin's former roommate". Now "cousin's cousin" doesn't necessarily mean "cousin": my cousins on my mother's side and my cousins on my father's side are clearly not cousins of one another.

- So the most we can simplify the original statement, while retaining full generality is "uncle's nephew's cousin's former roommate". --Saforrest 18:45, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Userbox For Speedy Deletion[edit]

- - - A tag has been placed on User:UBX/User photoshop-1,User:UBX/User photoshop-2,User:UBX/User photoshop-3,User:UBX/User photoshop-4 and User:UBX/User photoshop-5 requesting that they be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

- -

A template for all skill levels has been created, and so renders these obsolete

- - - Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet very basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on [[Talk:User:UBX/User photoshop-1|the article's talk page]] explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

- - For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Rugby471 16:55, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Nobel-medal.jpg[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg

- Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Nobel-medal.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

- - Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 02:27, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Better source request for Image:Botanpic.jpg[edit]

- - Thanks for uploading Image:Botanpic.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

- - If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talkpage. Thank you. -- SilentAria talk 05:19, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Licky[edit]

- - -

Nuvola apps important.svg

The article Licky has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Image copyright problem with Image:Jc-rogo2.gif[edit]

- Thanks for uploading Image:Jc-rogo2.gif. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.

Speedy deletion nomination of Williamson (band)[edit]

-

Ambox warning pn.svg

A tag has been placed on Williamson (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

- - If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Your RfA[edit]

Hi Eridani!

You created a Request for Adminship page earlier today, and an administrator, Mattgirling (talk · contribs) who noticed that you had completed the nomination and answered the questions, transcluded your RfA to WP:RFA, making your request go live. Was it actually your intention to run for RfA immediately, or did you intend to transclude it yourself at a later date?

Several people have already commented in the "Oppose" section. Regardless of your intentions, I recommend withdrawing this attempt, follow the advice offered by those who commented, and possibly run again at a later date. Regards, decltype (talk) 12:30, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Nuvola apps important.svg

Hi Eridani. I noticed you created a Requests for Adminship page some time ago; I was wondering as to what the status of that request might be. I think it's fair to warn you that new users are rarely successful at RfA and that the Wikipedia editing community sets very high standards for editors running for adminship. That being said, I strongly urge you to read WP:GRFA, User:Davidwr/Administration is not for new users, and WP:NOTNOW, and ask you to reconsider whether you really do wish to go through with your candidacy; please understand that you stand very little to no chance of passing RfA at this point and that you are strongly discouraged from running for adminship. If you are still intent on running for adminship with that RfA and are absolutely positive this is what you want, please do let me know; otherwise, I'll go ahead and delete the RfA page for you in about a week or so from today. Thanks for your note. No problem, the article has gone though a lot of talk page discussion and changes recently. Let me try to rework the lead and see if it can be made clearer. - Ahunt (talk) 13:31, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for June 8[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Luftrausers, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages EGM and Digital download (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
