Being Human pages[edit]

Hi Eshlare. This is a quick response to your own message on my talkpage re Being Human and creating an Annie Sawyer page. Just to let you know that I like what you're doing and will keep an eye on it, being as helpful as I can. - Dann Chinn (talk) 13:43, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

Re: Rose Tyler[edit]

You're welcome. Those were some links I had on hand and had planned to add to the article for a while. I'm interested in working on character articles (have you joined WP:CHAR yet?), I'm just not sure where to start (I added a lot to Amy Pond but I'm not sure what to do next). I also don't have access to DWM or Confidential prior to series 5 (I think they're online, but they seem to be region-locked to the UK), though I know the cut-down versions are on the DVDs. The DVDs for series 1-4 also have commentary on every episode, I believe. Some things can probably be taken from articles like "Doomsday" or found on online sources. I'll see if I can find reception on her debut or in series 1. There's a fair amount of information in the article concerning her creating, casting, and character arc, so I'm not sure if there's anything major missing. The literature section might be fleshed out like the Torchwood articles (I need to do this for Amy as well). Glimmer721 talk 22:08, 17 March 2012 (UTC)

Was searching Google Books and found an analysis here; might be useful. Glimmer721 talk 22:15, 17 March 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I tried cutting down Amy's "apparances" section but had some trouble. She's very central to the overall plot, which in turn is very complicated. I'd love to take her to GA, but I figured I'd wait until the fall when she will leave. I've kind of based things off of Jack's article too, so we're coming from the same angle. I can see what you mean about Rose's characterization section; the paragraph about her leaving in "Doomsday" should probably be presented with the production information first (that Piper decided to leave, Davies writing it so they were responsible for their separation), and then about the media first saying she was saying for the third series, etc. I know Davies wrote a book (The Writer's Tale), so that might be a good source. Glimmer721 talk 00:03, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
I've put together some potential topics for the Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Doctors. Nine wouldn't be too hard, as the series 1 article is very good, though Ninth Doctor does need some work. An article might have to be created for Adam Mitchell, though; there might be enough information. Glimmer721 talk 00:49, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
I've gone ahead and reassessed Amy and River to B, which I was thinking about doing. I have some casting and early character development stuff to add to Rory, though I haven't done it yet. There's definately some stuff to find on Adam like what is in the series 1 article. It might be best to start that in a user subpage or sandbox. I left Jackie and Mickey out of Nine and Jackie out of Ten because they were not listed as companions at Companion (Doctor Who) (though Jackie might be considered for Ten in "Army of Ghosts"), but they could be added. Hm...I'd probably ask about Children of Earth at WT:GTOP. Typically season topics include each episode, but as Children of Earth is a serial I'm not sure, and each episode is probably not notable enough for its own article (there was probably a discussion about this back when it aired). You could also ask one of the GT directors (there's a few listed on the WP:GTC page). Not quite sure where to go with Ninth Doctor, though it needs considerable trivia-trimming, so if you're going to ask about Rose at WP:WHO you might want to mention that as well--should it be just on the character, or the (brief) era? Glimmer721 talk 22:32, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, that looks good. I'll try filling some things in. Glimmer721 talk 00:06, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
I was thinking about Adam's possible article...the reception section may be the only problem. I couldn't find any reviews online from "Dalek" or "The Long Game" in reliable sources, though I did find this, which also may be useful in the Ninth Doctor article. Glimmer721 talk 01:26, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
That looks like a good source. Have you been able to find any reviews from series 1-3? I added a reception section to "Utopia" after I just watched it, but IGN is really the only review I can find (and that's only series 2+); the rest were all mentions of the cliffhanger in recent years. I expect "Dalek" got a lot of press coverage, although "The Long Game" is really Adam's story. Anyway, were you planning on starting a userspace draft for Adam or would you like me to do it? Actually, you could probably just copy and paste the old revision into the redirect, add the reception info, and work from there. Glimmer721 talk 23:39, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, have been looking around the SFX archive. These are some interesting facts from the DVD commentaries that may come in handy. Glimmer721 talk 02:16, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
It looks good! Maybe the BBC America analysis could fit in the reception section like the others? Glimmer721 talk 21:31, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
Are you able to watch the online episode commentaries, starting with "The Christmas Invasion" here (too bad there's none for series 1)? I can't as I'm not in the UK. Glimmer721 talk 01:51, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
I assessed Adam as B-class. Do you think you could look at the commentary for "Fear Her"? I put it up for GAN a while ago and it's decent, but I'm not sure how reliable Shannon Sullivan's site will be considered (in my defense it was used in "Army of Ghosts" and "Doomsday", but that was a few years ago). Also, this might be of use for Owen and Tosh's articles. Thanks, Glimmer721 talk 00:58, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Doctor Who reviews[edit]

I've debulleted the series 1 articles and plan to make them more comprehensive, though sources are hard to find. Have you been able to find all series 1 SFX reviews on the Wayback machine? I think I've used all the ones you have linked. Also, I see you've cited the Who is the Doctor book which could come in handy if you have time. Feel free to add anything important you find in commentaries, Confidential, etc. Once I finish making the "Awards and nominations" section prose, I'll probably ask User:Xeworlebi what he thinks of the series 1 article, since it was he who majorly improved the article last year. Anyway, Jackie, Mickey, and Harriet Jones all look great! Glimmer721 talk 21:58, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Okay, thanks! I'll check them out. Glimmer721 talk 19:48, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
I'm thinking of ordering the Who is the Doctor book from Amazon as my family is planning on placing an order from the site anyway. It will definitely help with sourcing continuity and outside references and will be fun read anyway. I'll tel you when I get it if you would like me to look things up that aren't avaliable in the preview on Google Books. Glimmer721 talk 21:26, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
I don't have it yet but it should come in next week. Adam is probably ready. As for HighBeam, you can apply for a free account here. I found reviews/comments on most of series 1 at Digital Spy, which I have linked to here if you are interested. Glimmer721 talk 01:40, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

I've started a userspace draft of "Rose" which I'm planning to work on. I think most of the production information is irrelevent/trivia, don't you? Glimmer721 talk 23:31, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

Will do. Glimmer721 talk 00:17, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

I have the book now. Glimmer721 talk 19:36, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

The only thing I would suggest would be to move the production information to the third paragraph of the lead, keeping the second paragraph all plot summary; this is what has been generally done in Doctor Who and Torchwood episodes. Otherwise it looks fantastic (no pun intended), definitely an improvement upon most of the Torchwood episode pages and the original (it should be enough to count for DYK). If you're looking for a second opinion, I would ask User:Matthew R Dunn (who brought "Day One" and "Cyberwoman" to GA) or User:Grapple X (you borrowed the "background" technique from his articles). Glimmer721 talk 00:10, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
That would also work. 23:20, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

RE: Ninth Doctor[edit]

Well, the McCracken article doesn't specifically say "Shalka Doctor" and "non-canon" (because it wasn't then), so unfortunately I don't think that would work. The only thing I can think of would be reference books that give a brief history of the show, but he's not mentioned in Who is the Doctor or the other book I have, Doctor Who and Philosophy. The series 1 article states, "In the April 2004 issue of Doctor Who Magazine, Davies announced that Eccleston's Doctor would indeed be the Ninth Doctor, relegating Grant's Shalka Doctor to non-official status", but I'm not sure the magazine actually says that. I'd leave the reference off for now and move it to the mainspace, then ask WP:WHO if a reference is even needed, or if they would know of one. Glimmer721 talk 15:21, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

Okay, that might work. Glimmer721 talk 22:23, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the article! I saw this on Eccleston, might help with his own article. I really don't know a lot about biography articles, though. Glimmer721 talk 20:45, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

Re: Review[edit]

You're welcome. Note that the image is up for deletion. I'll check out the review when you're done. The only articles I've been trying to avoid are the mythology ones, since I'm currently watching the series and don't want some of the details spoiled (although I've let myself know the general structure of the series from working around here, and probably won't reach the end anytime soon). FYI: Series 7[edit]

I've started a userspace draft here for the upcoming seventh series, because when it starts I'll be in school and won't be able to contribute as much. Right now it's just a collection of links, though I still have to transfer information from List of Doctor Who serials and stuff, so if you see any news about it or the new companion you can drop off a link. Glimmer721 talk 16:45, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

I found this (from issue 446) which would be useful for her character. Moffat has stated that he only plans to reveal the minimum before the actual episode. Anyway, thanks for the source. Seems reliable, although I don't know where they got that Episode 1 was filmed in Spain (that was Episode 3)... Glimmer721 talk 22:48, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
I moved it to article space yesterday. I'm going on wikibreak tomorrow, so you might want to monitor it every once and a while. I've added notices about adding unconfirmed episode titles and that there technically are 14 episodes, so hopefully that helps. Glimmer721 talk 20:48, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
The official confirmation says 14 episodes, as well as Coleman's announcement ("The new series will contain 14 episodes, featuring "new monsters and some familiar foes", split across two years"). It will probably be marketed as a Christmas Special because it is one, but in terms of placement in the series it would be Episode 6 (as opposed to being stand-alone, since it will lead into the second half with Coleman). As for the titles appearing on CVs and such...it's probably best just to wait until the BBC confirms them, as they often go through several working titles anyway (Neil Gaiman's episode was titled "Bigger on the Inside" until just a few weeks before they had to officially announce it). Glimmer721 talk 22:11, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
Poor Adam! Oh well, I'm surprised he was even on the list. Anyway, I saw you draft of Jo--it looks great. So far I've only seen bits and pieces of the classic series (though I'm planning on actually watching whole serials soon) but I haven't seen any of her stories (except for the SJA episode). I've found a lot of brief stuff on Sarah Jane (especially about her legacy) if you're interested in her. She's probably my favorite :) Glimmer721 talk 16:04, 1 July 2012 (UTC)
You could probably browse the TARDIS Index File (Doctor Who wiki) for info on Jo's appearances. I can't fully contribute right now, but it's something I can work on later. Glimmer721 talk 14:46, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

Re:GT[edit]

Welcome back, and congrats on the job! Check out this WikiProject interview for The Signpost if you've got time. Once I get done with a few things I have to add to some articles I'm going to continue with series 6 and cleaning up and adding reception to the earlier ones. Wish I had more sources, but they need to be cleaned up first anyway. I'm thinking it might be worth to move your draft of Jo to the regular article, and then the plot section can be expanded another time. I also was browsing this, which has some analysis and reception on Liz, Jo, and Sarah that was interesting. Glimmer721 talk 23:27, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

I've added that article to the reception section, and I think I'm going to look for a replacement to her infobox image. She's not even looking at the camera in that one. Glimmer721 talk 01:25, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
That looks like a better picture. What do you think of the really long "List of appearances" sections for many of the characters (for instance, Romana)? I think they are fancruft and best removed, I mean, that's what the TARDIS wiki is for. I also think the "Reprising the role" section in Sarah Jane Smith is unnecessary. I'm going to work on a "Reception and legacy" section after I clean it up a bit; what Toby Whithouse says here is a good jumping-off point. Glimmer721 talk 17:07, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
From the Entertainment Weekly online poll? Yeah, I read the article too (I sort of wished they talked about the classic series more). It's not surprising, because he's at the beginning of the relaunch and most Americans (especially those who are online a lot) have caught on by watching straight through on Netflix, and Eccleston didn't get too much time. I sort of try to stay away from fandom (and not suceeding) because it's always in wars and it ruins my enjoyment of the show sometimes. Okay, frustration about the Internet over. Pity about those appearences sections, though, the only books I have are from the past year or so and I think it's only The Coming of the Terraphiles that has something worth putting in Amy's article (she was proposed to by some guy, I think it was during the time Rory didn't exist). Oh well, maybe I'll just focus on cutting down those big plot summaries in some of the classic serials as I watch them. Only someone has already done An Unearthly Child, The Ark in Space, and City of Death. Glimmer721 talk 02:12, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
This came out today, if you haven't seen it already. I now think they split up the series so they could have a bigger budget. Glimmer721 talk 16:17, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

Harriet Jones[edit]

You've got the right category. I'd say work in that running joke mention in the lead somewhere; it looks sort of odd in its own paragraph there. Also, there isn't a ref for the "Sound of Drums" mention and I'm not sure about having the double parentheses with John Barrowman's name. Maybe explain who RTD is in the casting section. "Dénouement" is linked and accented in the casting section but not the plot. Otherwise, it looks good. I didn't realize that there was such a big political allusion in "The Christmas Invasion"...is that something we can work into the article sometime? That article is so big I don't know where to start.

Also, I found this - an almost complete list of Radio Times reviews for all of the classic serials. Plus, it also has a link to a scan of the corresponding article in Radio Times for some of them, and most have dates and locations of filming. They seem to really like Jo. Also, did you know she hurt herself on the first day of filming? ([1]) Glimmer721 talk 22:45, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

Torchwood[edit]

So yesterday my friends were over and I left BBC America on, and it was in the middle of a Children of Earth marathon (about halfway through Day 3). We found ourselves watching it and spent most of that episode figuring out what the heck was happening, but we were hooked during the fourth episode and were very sad when we had to leave after just 15 minutes of the fifth episode. It was very good. I did watch "Everything Changes" last night, although I may skip ahead to see how Children of Earth begins and ends before I continue. I've been working on cleaning up the page for Liz Shaw in my userspace, and I was wondering what you think. I think I've got a majority of the major things from the "Appearances" section in "Other media", and I wasn't sure if there should be any more. Thanks! Glimmer721 talk 22:39, 6 October 2012 (UTC)

Think I saw that once a while back. I was There was a new ranking from SFX that I included with Jo's and Liz's. Amy and Rory's exist happened as I expected but that was because I was crossing my fingers hoping they would get some sort of happy ending, and they did. That final note/voice-over made me cry a bit. Anyway, I just finished Terror of the Autons and I found Jo instantly likable. I've got an awful lot to work on and not enough time to do it, but if you've got any ideas let me know. Updates[edit]

I know you've been gone for a while, but I thought I'd let you know that Andy Davidson was unfortunately failed (I should have looked after it and made the minor fixes, because it's not much) but it could be easily fixed and resubmitted, and Captain John Hart has been drive-by GA nominated. I've had my hands full recently too. Let me know if anything arises! Glimmer721 talk 00:45, 6 February 2013 (UTC)

50th anniversary[edit]

Wow, I wasn't really expecting that yet, although it's probably the easiest considering the parallel universe duplicate. I expect they'll find a way to include all of them in some way; it's really not that easy since the Three, Five, and Two Doctor stories all had big continuity errors and involved the Time Lords.

Anyway, I've been monitoring Clara Oswald and trying to work on the Amy Pond page, but it's still a bit of a mess. I've also got drafts started on Leela and Romana; I found a lot of information on the former but then I realized that I haven't seen any of her stories. I've also been hanging around the series 1 pages--I found a good deal on the DVD and persuaded my parents to give to to me for my birthday (in July), so those episodes will probably be my next project in addition to keeping up with the new stuff. Well, enjoy the new episodes...I've still got a few hours to wait over here! Glimmer721 talk 17:01, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, I've just added it to my watchlist. I haven't collected information so I don't have much in terms of writing/filming to add and it's mostly been under wraps. The BBC website says they will continually release information, so it's probably all right for now. They just announced the return of the Zygons! (I wonder if they'll take the appearances of previous Doctors?) Glimmer721 talk 00:47, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
Considering his record, I'd expect they'd have to really convince Eccleston to come back on the show. Everyone's getting all worked up because there hasn't been an announcement about the classic Doctors, but I'm still hopeful because we don't know much about the plot and what is actually going to be done. Glimmer721 talk 01:10, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
Actually, they just released information that he wouldn't be in it. He was approached, but he turned it down. He's the only actor so far they've denied being in it. Glimmer721 talk 01:26, 6 April 2013 (UTC)

Prequels[edit]

I'm trying to get back to working on the Doctor Who (series 6) page because it's close to a good topic, and I was wondering what you thought about the "Prequels" section. I think there isn't enough for them each to have a section and it would all be better in "Promotion". I think I was vetoed a while ago though. Glimmer721 talk 16:48, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

Oh by the way, I just found this article on Rose, could be useful. Glimmer721 talk 22:52, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
I'm searching a bit for references and I'll probably build the section under promotion first. I don't know if "Space / Time", Night and the Doctor, and "Death is the Only Answer" should be included in the good topic...I got the first up to GA, the second has everything that is available on it, and the only issue with the last is that there's no reception information. Future[edit]

Well, how about that cliffhanger? I spent a week away from Wikipedia and Nightmare in Silver becomes overrun with trivia, but I'm taking a break from those last two episodes (which I really enjoyed) to work on some of the earlier stuff (and possibly Clara's article, if I feel like it) because, without Confidential, it's really going to have to wait until that DVD set. This summer I'm planning on finishing up Remembrance of the Daleks, Doctor Who (series 6), and tackle series 1. I didn't know if there was anything that you were interested in working on.
