July 2009[edit]

Your recent addition to Action figure has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Siawase (talk) 18:06, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your civil response. Unfortunately, the potential copyright violation was no the only issue. An online store would not be considered a reliable source, and when you have a conflict of interest it's borderline spam to add your own store as a reference. It would be easy to restore the material you added, see Help:Reverting, but I would recommend you not doing so as the material is not compliant with Wikipedia policy. Siawase (talk) 22:19, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Restoring the information without the link was a good idea for a compromise. It is now unsourced, which is generally not recommended, but since it's not controversial or dubious, I won't remove it. But be aware that any unsourced information may be removed by other editors. I'm no expert on copyright issues, and if you want to make sure the copyright issues are cleared, I think it would be best to follow the procedure at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. Wikipedia Help Survey[edit]

Hi there, my name's Peter Coombe and I'm a Wikimedia Community Fellow working on a project to improve Wikipedia's help system. At the moment I'm trying to learn more about how people use and find the current help pages. If you could help by filling out this brief survey about your experiences, I'd be very grateful. It should take less than 10 minutes, and your responses will not be tied to your username in any way.

Thank you for your time,
