AWB request[edit]

I've denied your AWB request - re-applying 8 hours after being denied probably wasn't what he meant by "get more experience". I'd wait at least a week or two - note also that users are usually not approved for AWB before they have 500 edits unless they have some specific project that needs AWB. --Philosopher Let us reason together. 02:36, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, that seems reasonable. Thanks! Firebat08 (talk) 02:40, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling changes[edit]

Please be careful when making spelling "corrections" that you are actually correcting the spelling. I note that recently you changed conquistadores to conquistadors despite the fact that both are considered to be "correct" spellings (see wiktionary:conquistador). Also, please be aware of Wikipedia:Manual of Style#National varieties of English which states that no variety of English spelling is preferred over another, except that the spelling style should be consistent within the article and that articles on nationalistic topics should use their nation's spelling (e.g. United States of America would use American English). --Philosopher Let us reason together. 02:44, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RfA thanks[edit]

Hi Firebat, and thanks for supporting my successful request for adminship. It was nice to see all the kind comments I got from my supporters and I hope that I will be more useful to the community now that I have the tools again.--Berig (talk) 15:32, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not that it's going to make a huge difference to the outcome, but you might want to go and sign your post to the above discussion. -- roleplayer 00:20, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your request for rollback[edit]

After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback can be used to revert vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback may be removed at any time.

If you no longer want rollback, then contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some information on how to use rollback, you can view this page. I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, just leave me a message if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Happy editing! Rickrolling[edit]

Okay, GaryColemanFan took care of the references and I added a little bit of context regarding the song and its music video, per your suggestions in the GA nomination. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 21:32, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Firebat08. I see what you mean. What little I've seen of the history of Rickrolling isn't the obvious kind of vandalism, such as blanking or obscenity or "I woz ere". Some of it looks like attempts by IP's to introduce some rickrolling or other "humour" of their own. I think semi-protection would be a good idea to curb this. OTOH this bit of pedantry covers up a real problem - "data is / are shown as a pixel in Rick Astley's shoulder" looks like a misinterpretation of http://xkcd.com/485/, where I'd interpret "Data (a pixel on Rick Astley's shoulder)" as "and here's some data in this computer - oh, it's only a bit of Rick Astley's shoulder" (? implies the computer has been rickrolled ?). I'd ask for semi-protection and put the review on hold for a week after it's semi-protected to see if there are any serious changes, other than minor improvements that people make even to exisintg GAs. I hope this helps. --Philcha (talk)

So are you going to pass it or not? It's been a while now. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 01:16, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, are you in there? *taps on monitor* Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 18:51, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just saw this link on Philcha's talk page, and wanted to note that vandalism doesn't count towards whether or not an article is stable in the GA process. Martin (Smith609 – Talk) 22:56, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. New deal for page patrollers[edit]

Hi Firebat08,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
