Welcome to Wikipedia![edit]

Hello Flurry, welcome to Wikipedia!

Here are some tips:

If you feel a change is needed, feel free to make it yourself! Wikipedia is a wiki, so anyone (yourself included) can edit any article by following the Edit this page link. Wikipedia convention is to be bold and not be afraid of making mistakes. If you're not sure how editing works, have a look at How to edit a page, or try out the Sandbox to test your editing skills.

If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else to do it. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. As well as the wiki community pages there are IRC Channels, where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks and happy editing, Alphax τεχ 05:48, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Tildes[edit]

Whenever you leave a message on a discussion page, (discussion pages of users or of all other articles) please leave four tildes. It will help Wikipedia's other members know who writes what on discussion pages and when they write things on discussion pages. MCRGIRL 01:13, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Antonio_Guzman.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Antonio_Guzman.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 09:20, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Moroder.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Moroder.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 14:18, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Blanco[edit]

In your comments about former president Blanco, I think you might be mistaken the terminaology. "Drug czar" is sometimes used as a term in the US for an official who has overall responsibiliy for narcotics policy. Not the same as a "drug kingpin" a major dealer, in the sense you seem to have taken it. Just FYI--Dudeman5685 (talk) 15:13, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Pedro_Franco_Badia.jpg[edit]

I have tagged Image:Pedro_Franco_Badia.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Some examples can be found at Wikipedia:Use rationale examples. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. Biographies of living people[edit]

Hi. I'm afraid this edit is not acceptable. Critical material on living people needs an independent reliable source to verify it and must be written in a [[WP:NPOV|neutral tone. Please review the policy on living people before continuing. If in doubt, suggest controversial changes on the article talk page and get feedback before making them.--Scott Mac (Doc) 12:51, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

And this edit is also unacceptable. Please don't attack other editors, and don't post negative commentary to the talk page of a biographical article. If you want to discuss things, explain calmly what text you believe should be in the article and what reliable sources back that up.--Scott Mac (Doc) 18:07, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

November 2011[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Sweet corn. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Disambiguation link notification[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Henri Christophe, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Azua and Moca (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Edit[edit]

Hi, regarding your contribution[1] to State of Palestine. You said that the use of "partially" is "bias-inducing weasel word". Do you have a neutral alternative, to reflect that its not recognized by everyone, without building walls of references both ways.--Mor2 (talk) 02:35, 6 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I have: That term is precisely NO TERM AT ALL. Case in point: For example, a nation's elected president, according to your insistent redefinition, will almost always be "partially recognized" (since he/she never actually receives a 100% of "recognition" of the voters). Thus, almost every leader will have to be called "partially elected president" or "partially recognized president", which is absurd, insulting and unhear of.

The recognition of the UN, as most voting bodies in the whole wide world, is not required to be unanimous (100%) in order to the remove the "partially" label, nor people right's to self determination is NOT required to be unanimous and in good terms with the whole planet; otherwise, 189 nation's of the world would have to redefine themselves as "partially" recognized. Absurb in every sense, unless you're pursuing a bias-inducing agenda which I firmly believe. Israel, in particular has never been universally recognized, but you don't feel like stamping a "partially ok" label to that nation. Am I right?

Recognized is recognized. Adding "partially" is just cherry-picking and the very definition of BIAS INDUCING. So it was duly removed.

Flurry (talk) 23:39, 6 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted your redirection of Top secret based on the number of incoming links, which indicate that this link has developed stable expectations. Please feel free to initiate a discussion at WP:RfD if you wish to obtain community consensus on a change to this redirect. Cheers! bd2412 T 15:30, 20 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

On further review, I believe that the problem is not that "Top secret" redirects to an article that is particular to the United States, but that the article Classified information needs to be globalized. The article already has information about practices in a number of different countries, but the lede and early parts do not reflect the breadth of this scope. bd2412 T 17:20, 20 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Dodge M4S, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Saab (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Notice

The article Deborah McGuire has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not appear to be notable, outside of her marriage to Richard Pryor.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
