Josh Warner Deletion...

So, I hate to keep beating a dead horse, but given that Josh Warner was featured on tonights episode of LA Ink (ep3) - described as "world famous jewelry designer", he made pendants for Kat's team (he wasn't there getting a tatoo), is it possible to undelete the Josh Warner page (or reinstate the discussion from Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Josh_Warner_(second_nomination) Shaunco 04:10, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

A Link to the Past

Thanks, I was just reporting him too but stopped when I saw that you blocked him. I think he's a very disruptive user, read his edit summaries and comments. Many users find that ALTTP is hard to deal with. Maybe you could warn him about gross incivility too? Lord Sesshomaru 05:11, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Re: SineBot

Ick. It was because I had just updated the way it looked for blank row additions (v1.1.5), so I think it just got confused as to how to calculate what lines were being added/changed, so it barfed. I reverted back to 1.1.4, so everything should be good, so it's safe to unblock it. I'll go hunt down the logic fallacy offline before updating it with that one change (which was a trivial, low-priority one anyway). Thanks for the heads up, and sorry about the confusion. --slakr (talk) 05:56, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Today I was sifting through the songs when I saw that you deleted the forementioned article. Can you give me a better explanation, even though you deleted it a month ago? bibliomaniac15 Two years of trouble and general madness 01:05, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Honestly I thought it was a unintelligible mess of nonsense, which had only been edited by its (now-long-inactive) creator almost a year ago, and I do not think it would have survived an MfD. If you want to undelete it, I have no objections. --krimpet 04:40, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Thank You

Thank you for looking into my autoblock and removing it. I'm glad you gave it some thought, and I appreciate your positive evaluation of my actions. I love my brothers, but sometimes they can be pretty ridiculous. Again, thank you for your help. Also, a general question about talk page policies - would it be inappropriate to remove the block template and whatnot from my talk page? It's kind of embarrassing. Just let me know if it's supposed to stay and I'll leave it there. Thanks again.. Glad to be getting back to contributing normally. bwowen talkcontribs 06:07, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Oh, and it's funny to note that today is the one year anniversary of the creation of my account. Go figure that today of all days I would get caught up in a messy explosion of vandalism from an IP address related to my own. Haha. Thanks again. bwowen talkcontribs 06:08, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
No problem, you can gladly remove the section from your talk -- it's understandable why you got caught in that autoblock, and as a positive contributor to our project there's no reason for your page to be forever branded with an unblock request like that. =) And a happy first wiki-anniversary! --krimpet 06:14, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Hi Krimpet, could you please take a look at my block and see if it is still active? I went to bed after our exchange last night and when I got up I couldn't edit any more. Now I'm at the university library and can edit, which seems to suggest that my IP range has been blocked or some such business. Can you have a look at this for me? Thank you, bwowen talkcontribs 17:03, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
I think that finally did it!! Thank you! =] Is it okay if I remove the declined template? It says not to, but considering it was accepted after the fact.. Just want to make sure. Thank you for following me so closely and helping me out... This was so stressful. I appreciate it so much!! bwowen talkcontribs 01:37, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

Question on Sock report

Although I am not involved in Chrisjnelson's recent discussions, he and I have had a number of run-ins for reasons I'll leave for you to figure out. Recently, during his block, another user has engaged in some alerting edits. I have engaged him briefly and am of the opinion that it could be a meatpuppet or sock. This user then showed up on the ArbCom evidence page despite no notification or request (in an attempt to raise issues on my behavior). I would like to explore this users identity but i don't want to fuel the fire either. Any suggestions? JmFangio| ►Chat  04:21, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

I would suggest filing a checkuser request with the evidence you have gathered, so that a checkuser can confirm for sure whether the user is a sockpuppet and take the necessary corrective action. --krimpet 04:36, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
Sounds good, if it comes back negative, it is still possible that this is a meatpuppet. Thanks for your advice. JmFangio| ►Chat  04:38, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
I filed and made note of this conversation - here is the link. be well. JmFangio| ►Chat  04:56, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

Let's discuss your block

I think it would be a good idea for us to discuss the block you put on me. I don't think it was justified, and I think you could have taken another approach. (I don't think I took the right approach either, although I was trying.) Would you discuss the matter with me, civillly, on my talk page? I'm interested in a civil, unemotional discussion.Noroton 00:03, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Read it. It's very clear.Proabivouac 06:04, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

It is not "harassment" to present reasonable evidence that you have been editing tendentiously, wikistalking fellow editors, and disrupting the project all while using an alternate account to avoid probation. I know you yourself have investigated and contributed evidence to many checkuser, sockpuppetry, and arbitration requests in the past -- do you consider yourself to have been "harassing" these editors while doing so? You are not above Wikipedia's policies; thankfully, Blnguyen's confirmation that ArbCom is currently discussing this matter in private has made me confident that they will resolve this issue in the appropriate manner. --krimpet 06:33, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
"Krimpet," (as you call yourself here) I haven't edited tendentiously, and I've wikistalked no one. Read the guideline WP:HARASS once again, rather than relying upon your personal impression of what the term means.Proabivouac 06:41, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
Even if you feel you haven't been editing disruptively, how is evidence that you are evading your probation any more harassing than the many checkuser requests you yourself have initiated, or your contributions to this evidence page? I am not at all intending to harass you; I am only trying to put a stop to your inappropriate behavior by bringing notice of your probation evasion to the proper channels. Please put this to rest now; ArbCom has indicated that they will deal with the issue. Your incivility here only has the potential to make things worse, and I do not want to have to ask a third party to intervene. --krimpet 07:40, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

Phil Hendrie/Steve Martin Vandal at it again?

Hello Krimpet, I guess user: 216.93.229.62 is close to vandalizing the page he made an edit on Phil Hendrie's talk page. Here is his quote: "Did he die of stomach cancer? What if someone made Wikipedia say that he did?" the link [[1]] He does realize that he was the one who made that erroneous edit. Even though he making it sounds like he isn't guilty of it. I don't know if you've already considered this issue, but just in case, I'd like to point out that the changes you made to the Commons helper script could produce unwanted effects if someone managed to make you follow a link like this (possibly through a redirect). I believe one or more of the machines on your network may be compromised, allowing malicious users to use it as a proxy, as large amounts of spam have been found to come from this address -- see for example some of these Google hits and this Project HoneyPot summary. Unfortunately I am unfamiliar with your network's architecture so I am unsure how you can track down and fix this. =/ However I have reblocked the IP as anon-only, so until the problem is fixed, your network's users can still log in to edit. =) --krimpet 20:03, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi Krimpet. MONGO is part of 7 diamonds' ArbCom case and the block will only make things harder for the community. Please consider unblocking. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 19:20, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

  • From reading your comment on MONGO's talk page, it appears that you blocked him because he failed to acknowledge your "final warning". Since he removed said warning from his talk page, one must assume that he saw and read it before he removed it. I am not aware of any policy or guideline that requires someone being warned to acknowledge that warning, or be blocked for it. Can you explain your rationale behind this block? I can't see any trolling whatsoever? ViridaeTalk 06:16, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

The User page Swastika and the "Oy!" preceding his question about editing Adolf Hitler constitute trolling by any reasonable standard. I find it odd, even bizarre, Viridae, that you threaten to block MONGO, but feel compelled to defend this kind of thing.Proabivouac 06:21, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
"Oy" I took to mean "Oi". ViridaeTalk 06:23, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
Besides the difference in spelling, that interpretation is inconsistent with the sense of the following remark.[2]Proabivouac 06:27, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
No it isnt - Oi! Can you help me? Oi! Why did you do that? It is a commonly used call of attention. ViridaeTalk 08:23, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
This exclamation is and is widely understood to be Yiddish in origin; its usage here is anti-Semitic and parodical.Proabivouac 08:34, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
Possibly that was the intended meaning, but as I already pointed out I took it to mean something different. Regardles, why are you arguing, they are unblocked now and I have no doubt multiple people are watching - if they do turn out to be disruptive they will be quickly dealt with. If they don't turn out to be disruptive then I have unblocked an innocent contributor... I personally fail to see any problems whatsoever. ViridaeTalk 08:39, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
(edit conflict x2) His first edit was to add an ASCII swastika to their userpage — clearly a trollish move. Then his second edit was to ask someone why Adolf Hitler is protected. Kids and their hitler obsessions - assume good faith. There is the possibility he is just there to cause trouble - but there is also the possibility he just a kid with a nazi obsession who actually wants to contribute something to his favourite subject. ViridaeTalk 06:25, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Dont let the shock troops scare you

Krimpet, don't let MONGO's shock troops scare you. These are not nonpartisan spectators at all. MONGO elected Crockspot to Admin status.[3] (which failed). Crockspot follows MONGO everywhere, defending everything MONGO does. Proabivouac continues to echo MONGO.

Despite an uproar, MONGO lost his admin status because of his nasty comments to others:

The 10 bigot and 2 racists comments are my favorite.

Several editors have been amazed that any wikiuser can get away with such comments. But somehow Mongo has. Maybe they all work for Homeland security like MONGO did--I dont know.

Editors have been complaining about his personal attacks on ANI for months, no one does anything.[4]

On a related note, the current Arbcom case with SOD/NuclearUmpf/Zer0faults mentioned above has a long history. I actually was the one who found out that NuclearUmpf was Zer0faults. NuclearUmpf suddenly turned on MONGO and revealed some pretty interesting information about how Mongo leads a group of editors on how to vote in AFDs, etc.[5][6] NuclearUmpf was protected from any administrative attacks until he turned against MONGOs group, then he was swiftly indefinetly banned.

Not that I am a nonpartisan spectator, MONGO and I have never seen eye to eye, just three months ago he was calling for my indefinete ban.

I am glad that an admin finally had the bravery and fortitude to stand up to such blatant abuse of WP:NPA. It is no surprise that several admins came to MONGOs aid when he got boot. If you look at his boot log, everyone of his boots is quickly revered. Noone (or is it No one?) should be above the rules. Thanks again.Travb (talk) 00:00, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for the support. :) It does really disappoint me that editors like MONGO are able to consistently flout the civility rules that hold our project together, and are given carte blanche to game the system as they please. I really wish the community would start holding MONGO and friends accountable to the same policies and guidelines that apply to the rest of us; until then, the needless edit wars and drama will continue, the credibility of our project and its leadership will continue to go down the tubes, and overall our goal of building an encyclopedia will drift farther and farther away from us. :( --krimpet 18:07, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
It was never "the civility rules" which held this] project together, but sincerity, rationality, insight and seriousness of purpose. Civility is an easy thing to game, and still easier for dishonest and insincere people. What you call civility amounts to hardly anything more than the absence of overt emotional content.Proabivouac 06:50, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
You have my support any time Krimpet. You are very brave, but in a levelheaded way. Travb (talk) 00:56, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for that, but it's only partially resolving the issue, on any dynamic pages (e.g. Watchlist) the notice keeps loading, displaying, then removing. Can we force it to not load in the first place? — xaosflux Talk 01:07, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
Unfortunately that would probably have to be done at the developers' level. :/ It would be a fairly easy fix to this code, if someone can prod the devs to do it. --krimpet 01:19, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Hello

I am a new member of Wikipedia. I look up to you as a leader of the Wikipedian force. I have a quick question: How do create userboxes because when I search the users of Wikipedia, it looks like a hot item. How do I do that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ps45 (talkcontribs) 03:49, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia! You can find detailed information on userboxes, where to find them, and how to add them to your talk page at Wikipedia:Userboxes. :) --krimpet 09:27, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Eyes of Jimbo

Hi, can I use the image in a personalized Barnstar? (I also don't know if the blink thingy can be incorporated or if the image will fit inside the small part of the barnstar. Besides, I haven't learned how to make one yet). Anyways, the barnstar will be used to award good arguments in the Afd (a good Delete argument (countering all Keep votes or going against a snow keep and winning) or a good Keep argument (sufficient expansion of article until the Heymann Standard or going against a snow delete and winning). --Lenticel (talk) 09:42, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

You can if you'd like — I simply took the frames directly from the fundraising video. :) --krimpet 20:54, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, check it out. --Lenticel (talk) 21:48, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Libelous description used in image deletion

Delete as you want, the image in question was orphaned anyways, but your summary of your action as resultant from copyvio, or copyright violation, constitutes an act of libel committed against myself, the uploader. This is something I see no reason to tolerate or accept, especially considering you took this action after having seen the discussion regarding the image, a discussion where it was indicated that the image was not a copyrighted image because it was the result of the work of the federal government of the United States of America.

In the future, when you decide to be bold and jump the gun cause hey, its an orphaned image anyways, please refrain from making false accusations about the original uploader; as there is not much motivation to reupload an orphaned public domain image that remains available from the source at http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml04/04195f.jpg (page: http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml04/04195.html) anyways. Thankyou... Zaphraud 06:16, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

The arguments brought up in the IfD discussion already explain it all. Images on the CPSC website, or any other federal government website, are not necessarily public domain unless that image was produced as part of work by a federal employee. Because of the way product recalls are performed, it seems most likely that this image was provided to the CPSC by the manufacturer; we have no definitive proof that this image is in the public domain. --krimpet 10:16, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

Edit summary attack by Calton

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section.

Please look at this remark made by Calton on an edit I made. The term "Buckwheat" can and has been considered racist in the past. At the very least the remark is rude. [8]. TruthCrusader 20:03, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

I have commented on his talk page. --krimpet 20:51, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
At the very least the remark is rude. As is calling a comment left on his talk page "vandalism", as he has done. As is telling someone to "fuck off, you wikipedia nazi", as the delicate, reading-impaired flower whinging above has done off-wiki. Taking the side of a troll with self-control problems: generally a bad idea. Certainly a good way to drive away productive contributors in favor of the poisonous. A little research before making threats: always a good idea. --Calton | Talk 11:00, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
Calton consider what you just said, you aren't exactly being sugar and spice yourself. If you calm down and cool the language I am sure you will get a better response. ViridaeTalk 11:51, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
I am extremely offended by Calton's remarks above. Rather than take this to a higher authority I am going to let this slide and request that Calton again leave me alone and stop his hateful attacks on me. I do not contribute to Wiki much anymore due to real life, but I do not need to worry about slander being spread about myself either. TruthCrusader 16:56, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

you aren't exactly being sugar and spice yourself. If you calm down and cool the language I am sure you will get a better response.

Really. You actually believe that "cool[ing] the language" will have the slightest effect on someone who told me (pay attention now, it was right there above) "fuck off, you wikipedia nazi", who has a multiple block log demonstrating his impulse-control problems, and who has had a long-term history of looking for excuses to get me banned? You might just as well wish for that and a pony, too.

Speaking of which, I'm sending you a full copy of his latest message to me, via e-mail. Some redacted highlights:

I know who you are....a[n] ... arrogant bitter angry fucktard whose alcoholic father raped a ... woman and had the misfortune of fathering YOU...piece of shit who uses the fact that he was taunted all his life ... to bring misery and bitterness to Wikipedia. You're the worst example of a wikipedia editor and a human being in general.
...you come across as a bitter 15 year old emo kid. You will never amount to anything except a lonely old english teacher (which means you are also probably a pedophile). The best thing for you to do would be to blow your fucking brains out.

Lemme know how that double-standard troll-enabling philosophy works out for you. Meanwhile, a good dose of common sense would work out better here on Wikipedia instead of carrying water for trolls. --Calton | Talk 13:38, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

As I commented on my talk page I wasn't reffering to your interactions with TruthCrusader, I was reffering to your interactions with Krimpet. ViridaeTalk 13:45, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
I have NO idea what Calton is talking about. But yet again he has left another personal attack on my talk page. [9]. I think he is possibly being trolled by someone and for whatever reason he sees fit to falsely blame me. In any event his personal attack on my talk page, coming so soon on the heels of a ban he got for the exact same thing, i think warrents some kind of action beyind a warning. Thank you and I am sorry this is getting ugly. TruthCrusader 17:06, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
I have already noted to Calton that he should try to remain civil; I have no desire to get involved any further in this dispute. Please resolve this dispute elsewhere. --krimpet 18:22, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
You were carrying water for a troll -- which a minimum of research would have revealed -- so take some responsibility for your involvement. --Calton | Talk 19:03, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
I still stand behind my warning; dealing with trolls does not give one a free pass to be incivil. I suggest you heed this, but other than this advice I am not going to get mired in this dispute. This discussion ends here. --krimpet 19:42, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

While I think you should have given a better rationale for deletion, considering lists like this are usually kept, I'll let it be. However, can it be recreated, at least, as a soft redirect? i (talk) 04:09, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

I have gone ahead and made it a soft redirect. --krimpet 04:15, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

Commons helper problem

For some reason the commons helper isn't adding the "Now commons" tag to the image page. Generally it replaces it with the tag requesting that it be moved to commons, but right now it isn't. Wikidudeman (talk) 16:31, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Good Articles Newsletter for November 2007

Oh god no

On Talk:Concurrency (road) you posted in support of using "concurrency" or "overlap". I have seen use of the latter by a number of states and the FHWA, but I can't find anything that uses concurrency; the only matches I get are for transportation existing to support development. Have you seen any, or is this almost as much of a neologism? (I do note that [10] includes "something joint or contributory", so it may not be a problem, but it's always good to use a term used by professionals.) --NE2 04:08, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Request to restore the Zeitgeist the Movie content to userspace

You deleted Zeitgeist the Movie. It, and numerous title variations are salted. There is a request to restore the content to userspace here.. Since you are more familiar with the deletion of this article, please response to that request. Thanks. -- Jreferee t/c 18:24, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Hmm, the request was posted by the same IP who vandalized my userpage yesterday. I, for one, will not be fulfilling this request. --krimpet 22:02, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

I too regret seeing you feel compelled to leave Wikipedia ... but I was shocked when after reading the current contents of your userpage, I clicked the link in your last edit summary and saw where it linked to. What the heck are you referring to? (Please answer via e-mail if you prefer.) Newyorkbrad 05:30, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Krimpet, I'm sorry to see you come to that decision. I personally don't think it should end this way. Please remember our conversation from the other day. All's well that ends well. SWATJester Son of the Defender 07:56, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

I just saw this edit [11]. You are wrong, stick with it, it can only get better. I truly beleive that. We need some good guys. Giano 21:20, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank you all for your support; after this outpouring of encouragement, and after talking it over with friends, and I think deciding to leave was a hasty decision. :) I'm still very concerned about the edit warriors and POV-pushers who have gained distressing amounts of influence in the community, but I'm more optimistic now that things will get better. --krimpet 01:12, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
