Hi Fv, good luck in the new house. If you get a break in between packing, could you take a look at Rotavirus ? I plan to take it to FAC around the 9th or 10th of March and would greatly value any comments you have. Best wishes, Graham. --GrahamColmTalk 20:24, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Sure, I'll probably be available by then :) Fvasconcellos* (t·c) 20:43, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Please let me know when you're satisfied; because there isn't a single psychology article at WP:FA, I'm going to allow time to get this one right. Hopefully, it will provide a sample that others will follow. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 17:51, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Great. Keep me posted. And then we should all keep it watchlisted, as we need One Good Example in the field that will hopefully lead the way for other psych articles to improve, the way TS paved the way in neurological conditions for autism, AS, et al. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 18:00, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

The book titles (specifically, Bowlby) in references are wrong. They don't check out with the ISBN finder in the userbox on my userpage, the & was a tipoff, but I'm finding contradictory titles. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:37, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Logo of St. Andrew's Ambulance Association.svg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Logo of St. Andrew's Ambulance Association.svg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 20:51, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Treatment of multiple sclerosis

Hi, I note your interest, have you seen the Relative Efficacy Table developed on the Treatment of multiple sclerosis Talk page ?...io-io (talk) 13:47, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

What could be more fun than an ANI posting about Natalizumab? Anyway you've edited the article, and you're welcome to participate in the ANI thread, and I was so rash as to mention your name as one of the people who have edited the article. EdJohnston (talk) 21:38, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Note that I tweaked your changes to the lead - made PML and interferon explicit. Since both have their own wikipages, I'd say the lead should be specific. Am I wrong? Always happy to learn if so! WLU (talk) 13:38, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
Regards the third case - I know there were two explicitly linking PML, N and Interferon, with a third diagnosed 'retroactively', but I'm unsure if it was related to interferon. Have at the lead, I think my ideal compromise would be "progressive myowhatever lwhatever (an neurologic illness) and interferon (another immune-suppressing drug)", but I'll wait to see what you do then post a comment if I have one. I would prefer the explicit links, don't really like the easter egg approach, but am OK with the bracketed explanations. But do as you like and I'll see how strong my opinions become :) WLU (talk) 13:46, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
It lacks elegance, but you can never be elegant when you've a sentence that long and I couldn't do any better. So huzzah! I normally just put in the wikilink and curse any lazy reader not willing to jump to a new page, until it was pointed out to me that some poor souls may be reading a print-off. Tsk, might as well be chipping out wikipedia on stone tablets... Thanks, I think it's a good addition and appreciate another's opinion! WLU (talk) 13:52, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
The compliment is much appreciated. I don't mind screwing up and getting called on it, but the continual accusation of agenda and bad faith (as if I put in 20K worth of edits over a year and a half as a clever, well-planned way of screwing over natalizumab right now) are wearing. The comments by other editors at AN/I and Talk:Natalizumab that I'm not being irrational is heartening, thanks. WLU (talk) 14:12, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

A commercial exploitation

Hi i would like to bring to your notice that some people are misusing wikipedia We have changed our global logo and want to put that information on wikipedia along with the news article where we have been listed. there are a few people who are using tricks to delete this articles , they create a user name and then delete the article and then remove their user name from wikipedia and also use some admins for this. We have tried posting article on our company karrox technologies limited (an organization in IT education) , there are some local net optimizers who approached us to give them contract for wikipedia listing and maintenance, when we denied they started deleating article on our organizaton. they have taken contract for our competitor " NIIT ", which is listed on wikipedia and has been tagged as advertisement. they maintain NIIT article and are hitting all competing companies like (IIHT, Aptech, karrox)and also blackmailing them to give SEO contract. Its a complete dirty racket. such group of people are really a bad name for wikipedia, which is considered to be an unbiased source of information. if you refer to history between karrox and NIIT , you will find how they are mainting the NIIT article and have been using tactics to remove karrox . the usernames which has been created and then deleated for this purposes are Stop.spam , s.khaan, 220.226.200.72, Bollywood ,Minigimi,. Well these are group of people headed by a someone called sanaa khan. i would request you to please look into this matter on an urgent basis so that organizations do not suffer and get balck mailed by such people. Please help us by putting our article back on wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.163.56.178 (talk) 07:30, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but, regardless of the motives driving the people who put Karrox Technologies Limited up for deletion, the deletion process itself (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Karrox Technologies Limited) was legitimate; established users discussed the article and believed (a) the article was not demonstrating how the company is notable (in short, why it merits an article) and (b) the article needed to be rewritten extensively to even resemble an encyclopedia entry. As an aside, this edit by Stop.spam was not inappropriate, even if you believe there was a dubious motive behind it. It is not appropriate for an article on a company to have links to competitors' websites; it is also not appropriate to add links to your company website in completely unrelated articles, as you did on Servant of Evil. You should avoid adding links to a website you own or represent even if it seems appropriate to do so. I suggest you read our guidelines on corporate notability and editing when you may have a conflict of interest. If, after doing so, you still feel Karrox should have an article on Wikipedia, you may create one again, but it must be based on multiple reliable sources—such as reports about the company published in reputable news media—and it must follow the tone expected of an encyclopedia article (that is, it should not read as an advert), or it will be deleted again. I'll keep an eye on the articles you mentioned above, and, if necessary, ask other administrators to weigh in on any edits that seem inappropriate. Best, Fvasconcellos (t·c) 23:40, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Socks and benzos

Fvasconcellos, I've taken loads of drugs off my watchlist because vandalwatching them was just getting me down. However, my radar has picked up what looks like a bundle of socks making good-faith but ultimately disappointing edits to the benzo articles. The pattern is to cite a PubMed abstract and add a sentence about the drug. I don't think the author has access to medical journals, appreciates the importance of review articles or understands that, for example, animal studies shouldn't be presented as evidence of human effect. The editors I'm suspicious about are Stilldoggy (talk · contribs), HalfFullGlass (talk · contribs), JournalJunkie (talk · contribs), Literaturegeek (talk · contribs), Openandshutcase (talk · contribs). There are probably more. Some trouble brewing at Clonazepam, Chlordiazepoxide and Clobazam, for example. Edit warring with 70.137.178.160 (talk · contribs) who I sympathise with.

I'm looking for some wisdom as to how to proceed. Should we ask the Drugs or Med wikiprojects? Ask Jfdwolff? I wonder if the chap would benefit from mentoring by someone with ready access to the medical journals and with training in the subject, which rules me out. And what about the socks? That's not a good sign.

Colin°Talk 21:39, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi,

I have stumbled across this chat about me. I would have appreciated it if I was consulted directly on my talk page before accusations were put out about me. I think a socks is a proxy, well no I am not using a proxy. Why would I want to use a proxy? I am not adding illegal content, not vandalising, not adding external links except very rarely so why on earth would I sneak around on a proxy/socks? I do own the account HalfFullGlass. That account I use at my girlfriend's house. I registered a different username because I was genuinely using a different computer. There was no sinister motive intended. I was just trying to contribute and expand wikipedia articles which were lacking say in pharmacological data, side effects, dependence information and so on. Areas where I thought that I could help out. I am shocked that someone who has no editing history comes along and deletes half of articles which even bots picked up as vandalism is getting seen as the hero whereas my hours and hours of work is being seen as the work of some sinister individual behind a proxy server. I am diplomatic and if people had a problem with my style of editing, I am approachable. With the level of editing I have done, whether some people agree or disagree with all of my edits, I think that I deserve a bit more than to have conspiracy theories spread behind my back. It makes me feel as if I have wasted my time and to be honest it has put me off doing any further wikipedia editing.--Stilldoggy (talk) 00:50, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Also, it wasn't just my work that was being deleted by the ip address but that of other editors as well.--Stilldoggy (talk) 00:59, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Fvasconcellos,

Hi again. I have tried being diplomatic with this anon user and tried to have dialogue with them but they just edit everything out without discussing it. They don't try and come to a diplomatic agreement. Even when I give her a citation from Department of Health UK gov, she dismisses it and deletes it. I am sorry but this person comes across as obsessive and bordering on crazy. Can you please help me out lol ***smiles***. I honestly don't want to get into an edit war but it is becoming increasingly difficult. I accepted a lot of what this anon user said and made significant deletions to the clonazepam article. See Clonazepam Talk Page but he or she hits me with personal attacks. See chlordiazepoxide talk page I am trying to hold my temper. P.S. thanks for the kind words on my talk page and glad we sorted everything out.--Stilldoggy (talk) 06:08, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi Fvasconcellos,

I am beat, been awake for 8 hours deleting a lot of my edits which were judged to be irrelevant and getting personally attacked after that for another hour or two. I think that I am going to take a break from wikipedia editing for a few weeks, except for the occasional edit. I have a feeling this anon user is going to become a bit of a stalker and end up in an endless fight so now the time is good for me to switch over to literaturegeek and kill my other accounts. Maybe I can escape from this anon user lol. I will add to my talk page acknowledgement of my older accounts as we discussed on my talk page. Sorry for taking up your time. Take care. --Stilldoggy (talk) 10:53, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Photos

Fvasconcellos,

I see you help out at Wikipedia:Graphic Lab/Images to improve, mainly with SVG stuff. I've taken a few pictures and made some diagrams for Ketogenic diet but am looking for some advice to improve them. Although I'm sure the picture images can be improved in software, I'm also looking for advice on how to best take such a picture (with just a compact digital camera). I'm also looking for ideas on composition and lighting. You might not be the man to ask but perhaps you know of a person, project or forum to ask? Some ideas I've got:

  1. Take a picture of a ketogenic meal for the main top-right image.
  2. Show the Liquigen being poured out the bottle into a small measuring container.
  3. Show a Ketostik being held against the scale on the tub.
  4. Show the KetoCal as a liquid in a Flexitainer bottle ready to use, possible framed with container and/or powder.

Any other suggestions wrt to diagrams and images are, of course, welcome. Cheers, Colin°Talk 12:56, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

I knew you'd be itching to convert them to SVG. My old Excel doesn't offer much options for charts and has a limited colour palette. I'd like to be sure the charts were useful before spending time polishing them. If you can think of a better way of presenting that data (or other data from the article) I'm listening. I originally thought this article could make GA but I've since gathered enough material, there shouldn't be any reason it can't make FA with some help from my friends. What's your opinion? Colin°Talk 13:34, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Please help me with anon user

He is driving me nuts. Please he never shuts up. I am spending 4 hours a day trying to defend my reputation on here. See the nitrazepam talk page now and the temazepam talk page and numerous other talk pages he is filling up. The guy is a raving lunatic! I am disappointed that I have been put through all of this with no wikipedia admins stepping in. I have done nothing to deserve this. Please read all of the talk pages to understand the problem and not skim over them. Action needs to be taken. I am going nuts with the stress he is causing me.--Literaturegeek (talk) 15:44, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

I have to agree with Literaturegeek. There is serious damage being done to article with no diplomacy and when going over the talk pages of articles in question (Chlordiazepoxide‎, Clonazepam and others) it is quite likely that there only a possible understanding of the subject matter at hand. The user is merely removing large junks of information, some of which have some relevance, the primary justification for this being that pubmed articles are being used. While I admit I have not received serious abuse there have been some users such as Stilldoggy and Literature geek who have unnecessarily had to take this abuse. Medos (talkcontribs) 15:53, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Medos2: Literaturegeek and Stilldoggy are the same person, Stilldoggy writes now as Literaturegeek. I would appreciate, if I have brought up some discussion on the articles. I would appreciate a discussion of the encyclopedia-level evidence vs. level for inclusion in peer reviewed journals. pubmed is not the counterargument. The counterargument is that much of such research has been rejected e.g. by the FDA, for lack of evidence. 70.137.178.160 (talk) 17:02, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

I told you he wouldn't last 3 hours. He is starting the fight back up on the temazepam talk page. I can only hold my temper for so long as I see my reputation and character as an established editor further hammered into the ground by this person. Just letting you know.--Literaturegeek (talk) 17:49, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Anon user

Hi, wikipedia often gets some stick/flack in the media for its credibility etc. How can anyone take it seriously or me, if it is being insisted that I try and get a consensus with a nursing home resident who believes he and all of his fellow residents worship a God with 5,000 heads and 10,000 years and that him and his fellow residents make sacrifices "unto it" and posts this drivel during conversations about the article during serious discussions? Am I going mad or is wikipedia going mad? I am sorry but you can't reach consensus with such an individual. Is there an admin who can look into my problem with this anon user who is also a psychiatrist?--Literaturegeek (talk) 21:51, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Images that might be replaced in en-WP articles

Hi Fvasconcellos. We from de-WP came across of several skeletal formulae of one user, which are missing hydrogens at heteroatoms. In de-WP, there was only one image used by an article. I have replaced it also in the English version. However, there are many more images used in en-WP articles, which might be redrawn or replaced by other existing images. See here for the list and Ben's comment. :-) --Leyo 16:46, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Sure, I could take some of these. I know that a few (such as mifepristone and aprepitant) have already been replaced, so I'll go over the list and see which ones actually still need substitutes. Best wishes, Fvasconcellos (t·c) 17:07, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Sounds great, thanks. According to CheckUsage (with the list inserted copy&paste) some of these are used in 41 en-WP articles currently. However, some images like Image:VitaminB12.png are used in several articles. I am going to check if for some structures formulae there are already better versions in de-WP articles. BTW: As you see I prefer not to scatter the conversation. --Leyo 17:45, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
