Speedy deletion nomination of StarNamer[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

A tag has been placed on StarNamer, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. — Timneu22 · talk 16:16, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

Creating deletion discussion for Star naming controversy[edit]

AfD Nomination: Star naming controversy[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but all Wikipedia articles must meet our criteria for inclusion (see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Since it does not seem that Star naming controversy meets these criteria, an editor has started a discussion about whether this article should be kept or deleted.

Your opinion on whether this article meets the inclusion criteria is welcome. Please contribute to the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Star naming controversy. Don't forget to add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of each of your comments to sign them.

Discussions such as these usually last seven days. In the meantime, you are free to edit the content of the article. Please do not remove the "articles for deletion" template (the box at the top). When the discussion has concluded, a neutral third party will consider all comments and decide whether or not to delete the article. Killing Vector (talk) 11:51, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

June 2010[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Star. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If the edit warring continues, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. TbhotchTalk C. 20:58, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

November 2010[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article International Star Registry, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. RadioFan (talk) 02:00, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

You're being discussed by admins at the COI noticeboard[edit]

Please see WP:COIN#Glennconti. You are welcome to add your own comment there. Unfortunately I believe you are on the edge of a block per WP:VANDAL, which refers to the problem with persistent spammers:

Adding or continuing to add external links to non-notable or irrelevant sites (e.g. to advertise one's website) to pages after having been warned is vandalism, or sites that have some relationship to the subject matter, but advertise or promote in the user's interest, or text that promotes one's personal interests.

Thank you for getting the ball rolling with respect to expanding the introduction of the article. I hope you agree that the article is improved as a result of your comments. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 19:51, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Create a mini-project to bring the articles of Neda, Mohamed Bouazizi, Khaled Said, and Hamza Ali Al-Khateeb up to GA/FA status. Possibly expand to include others whose deaths became symbols of war and peace (i.e. Pat Tillman). Would you like to work on something like this? Ocaasi t | c 21:18, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

What text in the ref supports...[edit]

"Children of schizophrenics might try to avoid substance abuse so as not to increase their chances of developing schizophrenia.[1]"--Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 16:06, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

The greatest risk for developing schizophrenia is having a first-degree relative with the disease (risk is 6.5%) and A number of drugs have been associated with the development of schizophrenia, including cannabis, cocaine, and amphetamines.

Glennconti (talk) 16:12, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

Yes agree with both of these statements but the source does not say that recommending limiting drug use is an effective preventative measure and I am sure are readers can make this assumption by reading the causes section.--Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 16:45, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
Is there nothing we can do or statement we can make to give hope and lead the horse to water?Glennconti (talk) 16:48, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
Can you replace your most recent ref with a review article? If you use pubmed there is a tab on the right that will limit your search to review articles.Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 17:17, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for finding that review article for me. Your help was sincerely appreciated. Glennconti (talk) 17:38, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

BTW if you take the PMID for the article in question and look just above the edit box when you are in edit mode you will notice a cite tab. Pull this down and enter the PMID and it will properly format your ref for you.Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 20:52, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

With respect to saying that THC causes schizophrenia, some reviews do not feel the evidence is strong enough to make this conclusion. Thus reworded what you added.Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 21:02, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
I am happy with "many". We will see what others think.Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 22:37, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
Please try to use review articles. If you are not sure what they are feel free to drop me a note and I can explain further. Thanks Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 19:58, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

We are happy to have you. There is still room for improvement. It is just that we need to be all on the same page with respect to references. We where all new editors once and are happy to provide guidance. If you use pubmed simply click on the "review" button you see on the right and that will limit your journal search to reviews.Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 20:32, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Please use high quality references per WP:MEDRS such as review articles or major textbooks. Note that review articles are NOT the same as peer reviewed articles.

My regrets[edit]

Sorry I haven't been over to the article to help out yet. I've been assisting a neuroscience class (see User:Biosthmors/Intro Neuro) lately and that's been taking up nearly all of my editing focus. One good thing is that their final draft is due in about 27 hours, so there won't be as much of a demand for my help after that, though of course I hope all students stick around to improve their articles further. Anyhow, just thought I'd mention that. Best. Biosthmors (talk) 20:54, 27 November 2012 (UTC)

Without even looking at anything, you may have thought I was "policing" when in fact I thought I was using wise editorial judgement. The source I saw said thousands of people would have to quit in order to prevent one case, which AFAIAK has 0 clinical relevance (as the number needed to treat is too high). Biosthmors (talk) 20:57, 27 November 2012 (UTC)

I did take some time to explain my thoughts further with this, but I think any further discussion should be done at Talk:Schizophrenia. Best. Biosthmors (talk) 02:05, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Discussion over[edit]

Isn't it beautiful? [1] Sometimes I like to just sit and gaze at it. EEng (talk) 23:00, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Yes it is beautiful. Thanks for doing all the heavy lifting. Glennconti (talk) 00:16, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
