License tagging for Image:Lim yo hwan starcraft pgm.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Lim yo hwan starcraft pgm.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Unspecified source for Image:Lim yo hwan starcraft pgm.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Lim yo hwan starcraft pgm.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kimchi.sg 07:18, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Billy10.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Billy10.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}. If you have not already done so, please also include the source of the image. In many cases this will be the website where you found it.

Please specify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. thunderboltz(Deepu) 06:08, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Billy10.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Billy10.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Dwightandfan.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 22:05, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Shurikenger.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Shurikenger.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Silver Ranger et al[edit]

The content you copied at Silver Ranger from Other Rangers and Ranger-like allies was a violation of the GFDL (you didn't say the source nor the originating page).

You've uploaded two fair use images, Image:Shurikenger.jpg and Image:GaoSilver LunarWolf.jpg, which do not have fair use rationales for the use you intended them and they are orphaned now. Additionally, you were using images explicitly stated to be from Super Sentai sources on Power Rangers articles, which we do not use. There are also issues with using a typical Green Ranger picture (one where the individual is a core team member) at Green Ranger, and a pre-existing image (Bridge as S.P.D. Green) as the image to illustrate the article with a fair use rationale. Please remember these things in the future, Hai Tien.—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 01:46, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

And now you've uploaded a screencap of GingaPink, still without a rationale. We are using images that already exist for this, Hai Tien.—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 01:50, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Silver Ranger is also really unnecessary. There have not been as many Silver Rangers as White Rangers, because there haven't been anyone designated as "Silver" other than in one series. Everyone else has had a different title. Also, screencaps from Power Rangers are better than those from Sentai.—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 03:21, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with File:The-comedian-filmver.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:The-comedian-filmver.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Watchmen character pages[edit]

Here's why those character pages were turned into redirects: [1]. All information about the characters should go into List of characters in Watchmen. WesleyDodds (talk) 23:42, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

That's the thing: since Watchmen is a relatively closed-off universe, there's no need for the level of detail to warrant separate articles. In fact, the characters are sufficiently covered by the Watchmen article; the character list still exists pretty much so we can move few details about some of the main characters in the main article in the near future. After reading every available source on the series so I could rewrite the article back during its Featured Article Review in October, I can honestly say that's pretty much all the out-of-universe information that exists on these characters. And we also need to refrain from writing pages of in-universe description. WesleyDodds (talk) 13:04, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Deathnote lastnamecast.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

File source problem with File:Hachi poster.jpg[edit]

Copyright-problem.svg

Thank you for uploading File:Hachi poster.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:36, 27 April 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Shizhao (talk) 12:36, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
