Welcome! (Original research)[edit]

Hi Haseo9999, and welcome to Wikipedia! I wanted to point you to our policy on attribution of sources in articles (you can also read the frequently asked questions about that policy). In particular, it forbids what is called "original research". Basically, we aim to have every article properly attributed and cited to a reliable source; original research done by Wikipedians and then incorporated into an article is unable to be verified by an outside, reliable source, so we cannot include it in articles. In light of this, I have removed your edit to Mac OS X, not because it's wrong (I have no idea), but because of the above policy. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me here or on my talk page. Thanks! —bbatsell ¿? 17:56, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Re: User page problem[edit]

I don't have to use my user page for anything; please read Wikipedia:User page, which states "If you would prefer not to have a user page, then it is recommended that you redirect it to your user talk page for the convenience of other editors." Also, it's generally considered bad form to edit someone else's user page without their permission, except when doing things such as fixing links or reverting vandalism. Extraordinary Machine 21:12, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

I understand now, and as such, have reverted the edit I made. Haseo9999 23:15, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:CCI.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:CCI.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 23:06, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

CCI high school image (response to media copyright question)[edit]

First, don't worry about OrphanBot - it's annoying, IMO.

If you live near the high school or have access to it (your user page suggests you do) then the best thing to do is to take a photo of it yourself if you want to put it up on Wikipedia.

There are lots of alternatives to the picture you put up from the school website because lots of people can take a photo of the building and release it for free. You can be that person if you want to make it happen.

To answer your question asked, I don't believe there is a license for the picture from the school website that would be compatible with what Wikipedia wants for free images. In this case, it wouldn't fall under fair use because it's too easy for someone to take a photo themselves.

Best of luck and welcome to Wikipedia. Guroadrunner 18:33, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi, the recent edit you made to Apple TV has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thanks. Dude, why for you undo what I posted in the Hilary Duff tv section?

from imdb:

George Lopez: George's Grand Slam 8 March 2005 (Season 4, Episode 19)

Hilary Duff ... Kenzie

George Lopez: Team Leader Original Air Date: 30 April 2003 (Season 2, Episode 22)

Hilary Duff ... Stephanie

not trying to be rude? But I remember those episodes, saw them again on Nick at Nite. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Silvershrek (talkcontribs) 00:39, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Hey,no worries. Given what you told me,I'd have been cautious as well, given some of the edits I saw over at 'The Big Snooze'... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Silvershrek (talkcontribs) 02:25, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Regarding Drift City cars[edit]

The information has not come officially from Hangame or ijji, they are mere speculations. Until the cars are officially to be confirmed by either of the two companies, the speculations cannot be added. ~Ambrosia- talk 04:05, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

You reverted my revision saying that it is "common knowledge", hence it is okay for it to be there. This is not true. Everything on wikipedia not attributed to a reliable source can be removed. The paragraph in question is not completely accurate either on the "warez scene", but I do not have sources to fix it, so removal till sources are found is the best alternative. Wikipedia Rollback.png

After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback can only be used to revert vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback may be removed at any time.

If you do not want rollback, then contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some information on how to use rollback, you can view this page. I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, just leave me a message on my talk page if you have any questions. Happy editing! Malinaccier (talk) 15:39, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

From this edit summary it appears that you have not yet understood Wikipedia's verifiability policy: Information in Wikipedia articles must be verifiable by all readers, not just by a tiny percentage of the population (e.g. people who have been to a particular concert nine years ago).

And from other entries here on your user talk page it appears that this is not the first time you ran into problems with this policy. Please re-read it, especially the "burden of proof" section.

Tila Tequila[edit]

It was my understanding that on an article which is a biography of a living person, that when there is new information that there needed to be two reliable sourced references. After reading the pertinent policy section I see that is not the case. Sorry for requesting a second reference and thank you for removing the tag. --RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 04:23, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Information.svg Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, including your edits to PlayStation Portable system software, but we cannot accept original research. Original research also encompasses novel, unpublished syntheses of previously published material. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your information. Thank you. First ref is reliable. second ref isn't - it's a fanmade wiki. third ref is WP:OR and shouldn't be added. Also, GT requires 6.00 as ref'd by the first.  GSK (talkevidence) 05:40, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:WarGames 2 - RIPLEY.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:WarGames 2 - RIPLEY.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 05:02, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:YoubelongwithmesingleTaylorSwift.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:YoubelongwithmesingleTaylorSwift.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. FASTILYsock(TALK) 02:22, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

I reverted your move because I couldn't find any verification of the change. If you can leave a note one the talk page indicating where the change is noted in a reliable source, please do. Protonk (talk) 20:13, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

Possible COI of a users contributions on DNS-related articles[edit]

Pictogram resolved.svg
This help request has been answered. If you need more help, please place a new {{help me}} request on this page followed by your questions, or contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page.

I noticed several additions of a user named DonerBaier on DNS-related articles. Upon further investigation, it appears his contributions, at are solely to add links to Comodo Group products and services. I wish to take further action on WP:COI noticeboard but I don't know how exactly to about this. Can someone please walk me through the process? Thanks in advance. Haseo9999 (talk) 02:17, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

  • A report to the COI noticeboard is a bit premature at this point. Essentially, I would recommend removing the spam links the user inserted into various articles. Then add a welcome message to the user's page, followed by a level one user warning for addition of spam links. Let me know if you have questions or need additional help. Best regards, Cind.amuse (Cindy) 13:26, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

Please read sources more carefully...[edit]

The edit you made here was not factually accurate. Namco has not confirmed any of those games or franchises, nor have they confirmed bringing any games to the Ouya. The source just says that they're currently "discussing" and "exploring" the possibility of the Namco releasing games, and that those games/series listed are ones that Namco has made in the past. Please read over your sources more closely so not to spread misinformation. Thanks! Sergecross73 msg me 21:24, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Homeland (Cory Doctorow novel)[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Homeland (Cory Doctorow novel) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

It's just WP:TOOSOON for this to have an article. It hasn't received any coverage in any reliable sources that would show it merits an article at this time and passes WP:NBOOK.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Tokyogirl79 (talk) 04:19, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

Nomination of Homeland (Cory Doctorow novel) for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Homeland (Cory Doctorow novel) is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Homeland (Cory Doctorow novel) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Tokyogirl79 (talk) 04:10, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
