Durood[edit]

Hey, I replied on the talk page for the Muhammad (saws) template. I'm glad to see someone else interested, converting the names of articles on Islamic terms to their English equivalents is something I'm highly supportive of in general. To give you a heads up, I'm suggesting that we move the discussion to the talk page for Durood itself and start a general clean up and adding of secondary sources. Disambiguation link notification for January 19[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Moses in Islam, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Meaning (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Muhammad in Islam # Names and titles of praise[edit]

This section is taking too much space, and clearly looks odd. I like to arrange in two columns but don't know how to do. if you like my idea, will you please do it? In that case, the image there should be placed to another spot. −AsceticRosé talk 14:15, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

It is still in one column !!! −AsceticRosé talk 15:31, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
Actually I mean to divide the whole list in two parts, one part at left and one at right, like newspaper columns, so that the space at right can be utilized. I didn't mean to separate the Arabic and English names. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AsceticRose (talkcontribs) 16:07, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
I mean

an-Nâbî, "the Prophet" ar-Rasûl, "the Messenger"

al-Habeeb, "the beloved" al-Muṣṭafā, "the chosen one"[45]

al-Amîn, "the trustworthy"[46] as-Sadîq, "the honest"[47]

al-Haq, "the truthful"[48] ar-Rauf, "the kind"[49]

al-Uswa-e-Hasana, "the model of conduct"[50] al-Insān al-Kāmil, "the perfect man"[51]

...... with bullets −AsceticRosé talk 15:53, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

Muhammad in Islam[edit]

I've created contents up to Muhammad in Medina, but I'm not quite sure what the names of the following sections should be. Also, I do not like to simply copy the main article, rather it would be better if it is written according to Islamic tradition. Can you help me in this case? −AsceticRosé talk 05:26, 18 February 2013 (UTC)

In the article Muhammad in Islam, currently I'm working on the pre-Badar time in Muhammad's (pbuh) life. The difficulty is while the Western writers say that the Emigrants in Medina used to raid the Arab caravans to plunder its goods as their income, Muslim biographers reject this. In my view the latter should be correct. What do you think about it? Also, if we say that the raids were sent to ensure security of Medina, we need some historical references. Can you provide me such sources? I have two or three sources, but I need some historical sources. --−AsceticRosé talk 05:25, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

With regard to your last reply, I have the following observations:

  1. I fear you did not get my point. I was not talking about content or information. I have ample of them. I was talking about references, i.e. English books written by Muslim writers which I can cite to give this article an Islamic look.
  2. If your word sources mean references, then I'm not sure how I can use Urdu or Arabic sources in this English article. Additionally, I do not have enough language skills in Urdu or Arabic to churn out references from them.
  3. Is there no one who also can contribute to this page? Being a simple editor, I do not have many acquaintances on Wikipedia. Only one person’s contribution can't create a good article like this.
  4. What is your evaluation about the contents that I have made so far in Muhammad in Islam article? Do you have any suggestion? −AsceticRosé talk 15:57, 20 February 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for your valuable reply. It has been suggested on its talk page that the historical role and place of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) be included in the article. In that case, we should have some discussion and planning on what information and sections can be included. I’ve planned to include sections like Personality, The Prophet’s Stature in the Muslim Community etc (but this will take long time for me to prepare contents). What I want you to do is to help me in deciding the aim and scope of this article first (the bio is less important though I’ve worked on it so far).

There is no haste. You can plan and put your comments on Talk:Muhammad in Islam at your ease.--AsceticRosé talk 08:52, 24 February 2013 (UTC)

Articles[edit]

Hey man. I'm kind of embarrassed to ask, but...what were the articles and discussions you had asked me to look at? I've been a bit caught up, and forgot about your request. Sorry about that. MezzoMezzo (talk) 12:49, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

Alright, let's leave durood aside for later then. The move discussions appear complete though I am not mistaken. Honestly, I agree that "X in Islam" is better than "Islamic views on X." Not simply because you asked me for my input; I honestly agree with the moves. If there are any move discussions which haven't been completed, then let me know and I will add my input there - with full disclosure of who informed me of the discussions, of course. If you can post names of articles, it might be easier for me to jump right in. MezzoMezzo (talk) 03:51, 23 February 2013 (UTC)

About your series of templates[edit]

Hi Ibrahim ebi! About your series of templates, there are a few issues I noticed in them and that should (in my opinion) be changed. First of all, many seem to include an infobox within the navbox in a matryoshka kind of way. This is inappropriate, as while the navbox should be replicated in several pages, the infobox should be used only in the article about its main subject; at the same time, navboxes are not given as prominent a position as infoboxes. In other words, they shouldn't be used together, and it would be better to just separate them. Second, as this guideline recommends, the default colour schemes and formatting for templates should not be altered without good reason. This other guideline states that default colours should be used in cases where the subject of the navbox is not normally identified with a particular color (eg for cases like Isa or the Quran, which are not usually associated with any one color). Let me know your opinion on these issues. Cheers, --eh bien mon prince (talk) 15:27, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

Instead of reverting my changes because there's "no consensus" (where is the consensus for nesting three templates one within the other, may I ask?) you would do better to address my concerns in a proper discussion.--eh bien mon prince (talk) 06:42, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

Templates on the Prophets! :)[edit]

Hello! I haven't edited Wikipedia articles for quite a while now, so caught up with work! But previously I was a frequent editor on the articles on prophets, angels and saints in Islam. I am very happy to see the templates on the prophets, on the pages of Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus etc. Now I wanted to points out a few things regarding them: (I am using Noah as the example)

1. Firstly, it says "Islam: Nuh", "Christianity: Noah", "Judaism: Noah". For Judaism, I feel the Hebrew original of the name should be used. So, Noah there should be Nōăḥ. This may seem insignificant but it will make a difference, the more precise the info, the better!

2. Secondly, Wiki is a world wide website, so people should know exactly what ʿalayhi s-salām means. Thus, please also try putting in over there it's English meaning, so people know exactly what the honorific is.

3. I very much like the "Miracles" section, but one must be specific. For Noah, for example, Deluge or Great Flood would be better then simply "Flood".

Please do tell me what you think of my points. Im trying to be as clear and want the prophets pages to look as good as you do! I also wanted to know could other people edit the templates too?? When you respond, I want to discuss the templates further, especially Moses and Adam. :) Imadjafar (talk) 19:21, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

Template:Anbiya[edit]

Again, all praise for making this in the first place! But, I don't think this should be put on pages just yet, for it needs improvement visually (aestheically) and in terms of the clarity of information. I had made both the following templates and felt that one color muted in different tones really as a good effect and to keep quite a bit of the info in English so many understand it is also beneficial:

Template: Qur'anic people Template: Angels in Abrahamic Religions

But this is secondary in concern, after the individual prophet templates! Thanks again! :) Imadjafar (talk) 19:28, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

Achieving consensus requires discussion. You should be the one to start it, as you take issue with my edits, and not the other way around. You could begin by laying out your concerns.--eh bien mon prince (talk) 22:23, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

Hi again! From what I read in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Templates, there seems to be a broad consensus that infoboxes and navboxes should be separated. For doing that, I think it would be better to fill in the pre-existing Template:Infobox person rather than create a new one for each case. You can see how it would look like here.--eh bien mon prince (talk) 14:42, 17 March 2013 (UTC)
