Triple Crown jewels

Your majesty, it gives me great pleasure to bestow the Triple Crown upon LaraLove for your contributions in the areas of WP:DYK, WP:GA, and WP:FA. Cirt (talk) 05:37, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for contributions to the project, Great work, especially your work on Maynard James Keenan - looks like you had to overcome quite a few comments at the FAC, great job and the article is comprehensive and well-sourced. May you wear the crowns well. Cirt (talk) 05:37, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Awesome. Thanks! LaraLove 12:01, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
Done, updated to main list - sorry about that, it is set up in a two-step updating process, makes things a bit easier to work through. Cirt (talk) 22:47, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey

Hey, i'm ChezSant, thanks for help into my user page. Now first, about that image that is a simullation of MDST, i got it while playing FS, and i added, but it is not important anymore, because Andrew merged the article into the main page. About AA and SY's logo, why did you erase those images? what did i do that those images can't be into MY USER PAGE? And the other image (Continental 777), why did you nominated it by speedy deletation? i think it was because the copyright (MY COPYRIGHT), but realy i don't understand people here!!, i post an image without copyright, and it is under fair use, and i put the copyright, its under fair use too!!!! so what is happening with u???? also the image in PUJ Intl was with WIKIPEDIA'S COPYRIGHTING BY MY USER NAME, seriously i don understand you ether those pages that talk about that!!! Please tell me the last time what do i have to do so this couldn't happend again???? Thanks for reading, i hope you to understand me! - thanks 4 all - ChezSant (talk) 22:07, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

The simulation image is under copyright, as it's a screenshot of copyrighted work. It needs to be appropriately tagged and removed from any user space pages, as copyrighted, fair use images are only allowed in article space with fair use rationales (FUR). It's only allowed to be used in the article for the airport with a FUR. The logos are also copyrighted. I'm not sure why they were tagged as "own work", which is copyright infringement. They were orphaned and therefore deleted. They were also duplicates, as the articles already have logos included in them. Lastly, the image above, while tagged as freely licensed, you'd placed a copyright watermark on the image, which is not allowed. We don't have "Wikipedia copyright". It can contain no text regarding ownership or authorship. If you need any help bringing them into compliance, feel free to ask. Thanks, LaraLove 22:30, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Image:COA-B772enSTI2007-2.JPG

This image is my own work, i took that picture by myself this is because i put it with the copyright. What is the problem, we add an image with ourself copyrighting and it is wrong, and we add it without copyright, it is worng too!!! whats that??? Lacreta (talk) 22:26, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

This image was watermarked with a commercial website, airliners.net. If you upload any other copyrighted images as your own work, as you did with this one and the logos, you'll be blocked. LaraLove 22:34, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Do not confuse me with Chezsant, that's my cousin. Why i'll be blocked??? do you need to be this rude with me?? Think about it i'm not a native speaker of english, and we can do some errors. Don't tell me that you haven't did an error, aren't you a human or what? sorry for that but this is not enough to bockme, i have only two images in this status!

however thaks your attention Lacreta (talk) 22:49, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

I didn't confuse the two of you. You uploaded the images, he had them on his userpage. There were three, not two. And I wasn't being rude. You uploaded logos as your own work and uploaded an image from a website and claimed it as your own work. This has nothing to do with native languages. You claimed someone else's copyrighted work as your own. I'm warning you, so that you don't do it again, that any more infringements of copyright will result in a block. So be sure any images you upload are either your own work or that they are appropriately tagged copyrighted with the source provided and not used in user space. That's all. Drama Ullman

Kill me for the bad joke, but you might want to skate by. Sceptre (talk) 10:15, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanx for your succinct comments here [1]. However, I want/need to clarify one thing: As I said in my statement, the real reason that these editors are so so upset with me is that they think that homeopathy is completely bogus. And because there are so many wiki-editors who are not just "against" homeopathy but seem to have a lot of emotion connected to their position, they have been effective in silencing many other editors who just happen to have a pro-homeopathy position. The story of Whig3 is a good example. He was extraordinarily civil, made efforts to provide references to the scientific literature, and sought to reduce the strong anti-homeopathy info (Like I wrote in my statement, the article on homeopathy didn't even have a single external link to a non-profit homeopathic organization before I changed that in February 2008 (through consensus)...what type of encyclopedia would do that? And just to remind you, I have been hounded by multiple socks who followed me around as well as some totally uncivil editors.
The fact that I cite research in peer review journal, that I also provide secondary sources, and that I am civil really pisses them off. If you simply asked any of the editors who have complained against me about their viewpoint on homeopathy, I would be (happily) surprised if they have even a modicum of appreciation for homeopathy (except as a "placebo"...which doesn't seem to be the full explanation for all of the phenemona behind it). One of the reasons that I sought you out as a mentor was that you didn't know anything about homeopathy and thus would not have any pre-judgments for or against it. THAT is the wiki-way...and I too strive for NPOV.
By the way, Spectre shouldn't apologize for the pun. It made me laugh too. DanaUllmanTalk 23:06, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

2 Questions

  1. LaraLove is trademarked? For real?
  2. "No reason to oppose"? Did I hurt your feelings Love? Whatsamatta?
    VanTucky 20:19, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
    1. No. At least I hope not, because I'm using it illegally if it is. XD
    2. No again. I had a longish support typed out, but it was mostly a jab at Pedro, so I just trimmed it to one line and stuck it in the edit summary. I would have gone back and started a longish post about your awesomeness, but it's mostly all been said and you've got this in the bag. There's literally no reason for me to oppose you. So I just went with that. I thought it better than my usual "Strong editor" support. ;) LaraLove 03:01, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for deciding not to have a jab at me! I've got enough to do at the moment without being a pincushion. :) Pedro :  Chat  13:08, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi Lara. As you are such a good person for reviewing articles, and you do a fab job at it, could you possibly do a little favour. I've been working on the 1995 Japanese Grand Prix article which was just failed at FAC. I've decided to take it to peer review. User:Paul Gene is working this up for FAC and I have reviewed it before. Problem is, both of us working in the field may lapse into jargon without realising it, thus we need someone from way outside the bio-medical end of it who may otherwise have a passing interest when I noticed your BPD userbox. Recent block

I just wanted to drop in and give you a heads up that your recent actions were (IMHO anyways) highly inappropriate and, really, against policy. Specifically, our blocking policy tells us that "purpose of blocking is prevention, not punishment". Further, it tells us that "Administrators should also be aware of potential conflicts of interest". I believe you have a conflict of interest regarding Betacommand, and that your actions (unprotecting the page and blocking me for edit warring with Betacommand) were merely an extension of your favor for him. Finally, your actions occurred over eight hours after the incident and after it had already been handled by another administrator. Undoing another administrators actions is typically frowned upon, and I'd advise against doing it again in the future (especially so long after the incident had been dealt with).

I'm trying really hard to keep discussion going on the Bot policy page so we can move past our disagreements, but your actions have been chilling and unhelpful. I'd appreciate it if you used more care and forethought in your administrator actions. Thanks for your time. —Locke Coletc 01:37, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

I came home from work to see a mess made by you and made worse by Majorly. The page protection was against policy. Betacommand received a block for reverting your bad edits and then making some inappropriate comments when spoken to about it. You're making changes to a policy page during an ongoing discussion where, from what I read, people don't agree with you. From your messages to me on your talk page, it appears that people started ignoring you, because discussion was going no where, so you decided to take matters into your own hands and make your changes despite the direction of the discussion. Whether that was to be pointy or to get their attention (perhaps both) is not clear, but you were obviously having issues with appropriately dealing with the situation. I fixed Majorly's mess. If he'd done what policy dictated, you would have been blocked for 3RR instead of the page being protected. You delve in to claim my action is biased on Betacommand. This was about a bad page protection instead of a warranted block. I won't delve into the possible reasoning behind that decision, because I don't care, but the page was protected because of you. That's not how it works. I unprotected the page and blocked you, that's how we end edit warring. Betacommand was blocked for other things, but he was not the only one who you were revert warring with, thus your block. Also, considering your block log, I could have blocked for much longer, but I figured a day would be enough time for you to get a grip. LaraLove 04:19, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
A couple of things:
  • I didn't violate 3RR, so a block for that would have been inappropriate
  • The version being edit warred over was clearly marked as "disputed" (so I wasn't trying to force policy at all; I left the disputed tag in place intentionally because I wanted to engage people in further discussion)
  • Betacommand was blocked for making personal attacks (I would argue that making personal attacks is actually worse than edit warring)
  • If you believe I wasn't handling the situation appropriately, perhaps you should have suggested an appropriate method (constructive, preventative) rather than simply blocking (punitive)
I won't answer the "people started ignoring you" bit, because it seemed people were ignoring the issue and not me specifically (contrary to what you may believe, I wasn't the only one promoting this method). As to my block log, you'll notice a lot of those are old (two years in most cases), and a number of those were also inappropriate. At any rate, I already had "a grip", things had been settled down for eight hours (as I already indicated), so I don't see what your actions did besides make things worse (and if nothing else, made a bigger mess, IMO). —Locke Coletc 04:43, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
An editor must not perform more than three reverts, in whole or in part, on a single page within a 24-hour period. A revert means undoing the actions of another editor, whether involving the same or different material each time. -- WP:3RR

Message from me (Lara) to you (everyone else)

Regarding my short retirement, I'm srsly not one to retire for two days. I know there are editors who retire on a regular basis for any length of time between 15 minutes and a couple weeks, and I find them to be incredibly dramatic to epic annoying proportions. When I retired, I had no intention of returning any time soon.

In the time that I have been here, I have met many amazing people. Those who I am fortunate enough to call my friends, and those who have read my defense of the Bathrobe Cabal, know that I consider my online friends to be no different than my local friends. I care about them all the same. One person in particular has become extremely important to me. I have displayed many times in various places what his support, encouragement and inspiration have meant to me, how much I cherish him and our friendship, and how I utterly adore him. For many months, through many dramatic (I have Borderline, cut me some slack) ups and downs, I have considered him to be my best friend. So, when he left not only the project, but also me, I was left with no desire to edit. I had to take a break from my volunteer work on a project that reminded me of such an unfortunate loss.

I put up a retirement banner rather than a wikibreak banner because no one ever respects those. I didn't want requests on my talk page or notices of discussions. I planned to come back whenever I was ready. The kind words here, on AN, in IRC and through e-mail are all very much appreciated. I certainly did not expect such a response. I guess I didn't really think about that at all. It was heartwarming and I cannot express how much everyone's concern means to me. This project is flawed in countless ways, but the community is what always prevails for me, and that is what keeps me here. That people who disagree, who have had nasty arguments, or have never even crossed paths, can appreciate the work that one has done and be genuinely concerned and saddened at the loss of such an editor. It's a beautiful thing.

With that said, I've been forcefully unretired, as he put it, by the_undertow, and hopefully I'm here to stay. And, although I continue to be saddened by the loss of the editor and administrator who brought so much laughter and joy to so many on this project, who was the cornerstone for my own adminship and the one who encouraged me to be myself, and who drunk dialed my talk page with hilarity on a semi-regular basis, I am resolve to keep these memories as fond ones and continue on with our friendship that long ago transcended Wikipedia.

As for the rumor about my leg, this is what it looks like now. Tomorrow should be excruciatingly painful, as was Monday. I'll be sure to update. But for those who haven't heard, it was thought to be a Brown Recluse bite, but what looked like necrosis was not. It's a spider bite that led to a bacterial infection and turned into an abscess. They cut and drained it Monday. Tomorrow is follow-up. Wish me luck... and painlessness, kthxbai. LaraLove 03:06, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Welcome back?

Err, don't know what else to say, but welcome back after the 2-day retirement. How did it feel? OhanaUnitedTalk page 19:53, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

It was 3 days. My edits on the 27th don't count. How did it feel? I don't know... I was medicated for my leg, so meh... painful an drowsy, but somehow I don't think those were symptoms of wiki-withdrawal. I wasn't really wikin' if that's what you're asking. I'm back because, regarding the reason I left, circumstances have changed. Otherwise, I'd still be gone. LaraLove 15:18, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

I found bite treatment for Brown recluse spider, it may be useful for you to know =D OhanaUnitedTalk page 04:31, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

I said it was thought to be a Brown Recluse bite, but it turned out it's not... or at least there'a no venom from one. Now, if it were, I'm sure I wouldn't be treating it based on advice from the Doctor's office where anyone can practice. However, I appreciate the effort and thought. LaraLove 15:29, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

I am so happy to see you back...

...you're one of my favorite people here. Along with Chip of course. Glad to see you feeling better, besides the spider bite. Welcome back!<3 Tinkleheimer TALK!! 03:15, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

zOMG! You mean all is back to normal and I can now sleep again? Good news, & welcome back! --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 07:06, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
O, hai. Yes, plz. Go sleep. And note you should change the code in your sig to use span style because it currently messes up the code on my talk page. That's the only reason... otherwise, it's great. XD LaraLove 00:39, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. Steep learning curve. Is this better? --Rodhullandemu 02:06, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
It is, indeed. Thanks, :) LaraLove 08:09, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

User RDO

User RDOlivaw has attempted to use open proxies to evade his ban and is now creating havoc in the Wi-Fi talk page. I appeal to you to take action since you have investigated his sock puppetry case before. Refer to wi-Fi talk page and also its history. See also [6] in case he removed the evidence again. If this isn't the right channel to report, I hope you can forward it to the relevant admin. Thanks. CleanUpX (talk) 07:21, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Sorry I did not know you are retiring. Anyway, I have forwarded my request to another admin Ryūlóng (竜龙) who created my talk page. Thanks anyway. CleanUpX (talk) 08:53, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Welcome back!

Knew you wouldn't stay away for so long. That spider bite looks rough. BTW, its probably not a brown recluse, since their only really native to the Ozarks, and you really gotta piss it off to get it to bite. For some strange reason, every unknown spider bite is blamed on the Brown Recluse, which is weird since a) its a kinda rare spider b) it doesn't really bite all that often, and c) though poisonous, its not overly known for necrosis problems. But this is just me being a know-it-all. Anyhoo, good to have you back. L8R... --Jayron32.talk.contribs 17:59, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Insecticides are poisonous. Spiders are not poisonous; but venomous. Hence, when Peter Parker dons the infamous black suit, he does not become his alter-ego and nemesis, "Poison." Anyone have access to an encyclopedia? Haha. Ok. Sry. Retired. Back to golf. the_undertow talk 05:30, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
Well, I've seen them in my house before. Lowes' and Home Depot brought them over on some lumber in 2005. But, yea. I didn't actually see the spider that bit me. But I did some research and found that spiders, including BRs, like to get into clothing lying on the floor, which is where my PJ pants were. So I figured that spidey was hanging out there and then bit me when I sat on him or something. Perhaps that is what happened. But I thought Brown Recluse specifically because when it started to turn black, everyone I work with said it looked like a BR bite. Shit went down hill after a hot bath Friday night, and I read that heat activates the poison in the venom. The black looked like necrosis and then a white ring started to form. EVERYTHING about it pointed to BR. However, it turned out to be no necrosis, so no venom. They did say it could have been a BR, but if it was, no venom was released, which is possible. Personally, I think it was probably just a regular little house spider, and that's what I'm choosing to believe. I was more grossed out by knowing a BR had touched me than anything.
But yea. Monday, when they cut it open and drained it, they first injected me with 10 or 12 shots of Lidocaine and, I swear, it's the most painful experience ever. It was over fairly quickly, about a minute, I'd say. So in the big picutre, not as painful overall as childbirth or a two and a half hour tattoo on my spine, but as far as condensed pain, it was excruciating. Therefore, when I went in today for them to destuff, clean and restuff, I asked for a different medicine to numb me or take the edge off, and was told there was no other option. So I opted for no Lidocaine. It was, apparently, the first time the nurse had ever had a chick refuse to be numbed. She stopped half way through and asked if I was sure I didn't want the Lidocaine. I told her "Fuck no, get it done." She laughed and finished. I did make her stop once so I could breathe, though. Anyway, this was less painful than Monday, so it was a good decision. I do, however, believe getting it cut open and drained with no Lidocaine would have been even worse times. So I'm just glad it's over. I go back Friday. It should be doing well by then. She said it's healing exceptionally well. So it's good times. :) LaraLove 02:47, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
Lara, coming from a country renowned for a total abscence of venemous anything (with one rare exception) the fact that you can sum up the above experience as So it's good times. is, well, WOW! Good on you! BTW, glad you're back per comment at AN when you left. Pedro :  Chat  06:57, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
Dude, good things have come from this hole. I've gotten a week off of work, my best friend back, and a story to tell with pictures that gross people out. It's also given me full right to sit around and do nothing all day for days... that whole unable to walk deal. Almost every bad situation has a silver lining. It's just a matter of finding it and going with it. Good times. LaraLove 08:02, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
Yeah... that sounds a lot like the time that I dislocated my shoulder so forcefully that it made a sound like a tennis ball bouncing off the sidewalk at seventy miles per hour. It was a unique experience, it gave me a great story to tell people but I'd just as soon it never happen again. I'm glad to see you back, this place wouldn't have been anywhere near the same with you gone. now...erm...get your ass to work. Trusilver 09:20, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
Dude. I totally wouldn't change a thing. It's been painful, but it's been an overall good experience. I wouldn't risk changing how things are today. This is the sort of shit that builds character, and it's been an opportunity to spend time on important things. LaraLove 16:31, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
Yay so our very best admin has returned! From what I read here it is a good thing to have a spider bite... *goes into his attic and finds a nasty black widow...* --Chetblong (talk) 17:38, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
I read about what happened, and I'm glad you're back! --Kyoko 18:36, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
Chet, dude, don't seek this shit out. Just go with it and make the best of it when it happens. <3
Thanks, Kyoko!! :) LaraLove 00:32, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
